Didn’t watch last nights game but it sounded like more of the WMU series. I don’t think these are bad games to lose because you can learn from them, but man when Michigan concedes stuff defensively they give up golden scoring chances. That has to change.
Assuming petey23 is back from Nashville now, can we discuss this? Silly NCHC schools thinking they can go toe to toe with middle of the pack b1g teams.
When you get beat you get beat. UND was pretty sloppy in their own end and Penn State kept the pressure on them and UND couldn't make or receive a pass which has been an issue this year so far. Took a couple stupid penalties and Penn State took advantage and made UND chase the game all night. Could be an interesting year for UND as we still play Minnesota and Cornell in non conference and have Denver this weekend. I have to admit I do like how Penn State plays.....kind of reminds me of the Dean Blais UND teams where they have an aggressive forecheck and shoot the puck whenever their is an opening from any angle. Clayton Phillips was the best player on the ice. Interesting that he had played against UND in the Las Vegas Hall of Fame game. Good luck to Penn State the rest of the year.
arguably the best women's player in the nation, Alina Mueller, returned for Northeastern tonight in their 5-1 W @ Providence just her second game on the season for the 8-2 Huskies after she apparently took a cheap shot in a game vs Russia while playing for her native Switzerland. So nice to get her back in the lineup in a line with Chloe Aurard and Maureen Murphy. Just a killer first line
Nice sweep for UND on the road at Miami this weekend. 4 game winning streak with UMD and Minnesota coming to Grand Forks the next two weekends. Jake Sanderson put together some highlight clips for the Hobey Baker Show and had a 6 point weekend.
the Northeastern women haven't dropped a game since October 9th, now 11-2-1 after a 4-1 W over UNH the men got a big 1-0 W at BU last night in the first meeting between the two rivals since Jim Madigan transitioned from HC into the AD role. Huskies sitting at 9-4 overall and 5-3 in Hockey East play. They play BU at Matthews tonight
Hard fought slpit with UMD last weekend. UND was missing Hobey Candidate Jake Sanderson and two forwards with flu and injuries. UMD took the life out fo the building on Friday night as UND kept taking bad penalties and the game never had any flow. Saturday was a tough physical battle which UND was able to hang on for a 2-1 win. Rabid The Rodents come to town this weekend. Many students will be gone for the weekend but it should still likely be a sold out arena. In St.Cloud the following weekend so the schedule doesn't let up anytime soon. Currently NCHC teams are ranked 2,5,6,7,9, and 12 in the country so the conference is going to be a grind.
I figured this would be a season UMD took a step back due to roster churn. Sitting at #2 in the poll and #1 in both the PWR & RPI at this point in the season is a pleasant surprise.
UND got thumped last night. Couple of fluky goals but those seem to happen when you are outplayed for 45-50 minutes.
Yes. Just got back from Grand Forks a little while ago. UND was pretty stifling tonight. Gophs had 6 shots on goal through first two periods. Pretty dominant rebound effort for UND tonight but Minnesota did make it interesting late with a 4 on 3 power play goal and an extra attacker goal late in the 3rd. My brother and I stopped at the Tavern United when we got to town and had a bite to eat and a couple drinks. Ended up giving Brodzinski's girlfriend and her mom a ride to the arena as they had thought there was a bus from the bar to the arena(there wasn't) and they had been waiting quite a while to even be assigned an Uber.
The Gophers came to play on Friday night at Yost. 3-0 after one period. It is the Gophers Freshman Chaz Lucius that has 2 goals.
5-1 final but I have a feeling we will see a better rematch tomorrow. I didn’t expect the transition to Michigan being a football school could happen in one week.
the Northeastern men scored a huge win at PC last night, 2-0. Huskies now 12-4-1 on the season in Jerry Keefe's first year as HC. Currently 6-3-1 in Hockey East play. Really encouraging start to his tenure the NU women are coming up on two months since their last loss. They're hosting Cornell for two games at Matthews Arena this weekend. Swept two games at #10 Princeton last week. It's a bummer we don't have Quinnipiac on the schedule this season
Northeastern leading PC 2-1 early in the 3rd period the women got a nice 4-2 comeback W over Cornell. Chloe Aurard is such a stud
Yeah. Penalties absolutely killed the momentum the Huskies started building in the 3rd. Oh well. UND has been weird in their last few series like this...they get stomped the first night and recover to win the next night. UMD, UMN, and now SCSU.
Any idea how much top division refs make at the college level? Is this accurate? https://www.comparably.com/salaries/salaries-for-hockey-referee
Michigan plays Michigan Tech on Wednesday at the Great Lakes Invitational but decided they will not play Western Michigan on Thursday at the Great Lakes Invitational. Enough players to play on Wednesday but not Thursday?
