Checking in for NSD tomorrow...I have to agree with the sentiment that it seems like recruiting has fallen off since the regular season ended (at least that is how it has come across to me). When Leavitt and Clark left (and we got our asses handed to us in the Alamo Bowl), it really felt like we lost all the momentum we had gained, especially in the final few weeks of the regular season. I'm hoping that a quality recruiting class and having multiple guys drafted (Awuzie is gone by the end of the 3rd, Tupou should be gone by the end of the 4th or 5th but has a chance to move up after a strong week in the Shrine game or whatever he played in, TT shou Since I'm somewhat out of the loop...I assume we are no longer in the running for Falo? Only reason I ask is that I went and searched the headlines on the recruiting sites, but I didn't really see much in terms of news that he had cut down his list / was leaning one way or the other. Also, I'm hoping we can steal Newman back from Baylor. How any parents would let their kid go there is beyond me (especially after the accusations in the lawsuit filed this week i.e. 50+ incidents of sexual assault over 4 yrs). The fact that the NCAA will not be imposing sanctions on Baylor, which the NCAA successfully buried by announcing it on Election Day, just goes to show unethical and hypocritical the NCAA truly is (how they cannot go after Baylor after the way they went after CU earlier in the 2000's for "a lack of institutional control" or whatever they said continues to leave me puzzled). I will ask my cousin about our new DB's coach as he is either a GA or working QA for Army. I've read good things about the guy, but I'd rather hear it from someone that knows him.

I got a notification on my phone as I was leaving work yd...it was in regards to their story on HCMM having known about Tump long before he was suspended/ let go. And while my initial reaction was (you know all the hypocrites in Boulder / at CU are going to rail CU FB for this), I am now thinking the following after a night to sleep on it: 1) I don't envy the position HCMM must have been in. Leavitt left shortly after HCMM was supposedly told about Tump by the woman Tump was beating on, leaving CU with no DC for CU's 1st bowl game in what...a decade. And while the woman had at least made HCMM aware that something might be going on, it's not like the restraining order had been filed / the Boulder PD had began investigating Tump prior to him being named DC for the bowl game. What was HCMM supposed to do? Play PI with Rick George and investigate the matter for the Boulder PD so that he knew for certain whether the guy he'd named DC for one game was guilty / a complete scum bag that beat the shit out of his gf on a consistent basis? It was a no win situation for HCMM. 2) From what I can tell, HCMM seems to be a good guy. And what I mean by that is he has always come across as someone who is very ethical / that cares about other people and always doing things the right way (some may have thought his crying after multiple games last yr was a bit over the top, but it showed me a guy who genuinely cares about his job / the kids he was coaching / CU football and the university in general). With that said, I have a hard time seeing him not having done something about Tump earlier had he been aware of him beating a woman 80+ times over 2 yrs (# is per ESPN). And it leaves me wondering what all the woman Tump was beating on said to HCMM in trying to make him aware of the situation. I hate even saying that (and what I am about to say next) because of what she went through, but what the fuck did she expect HCMM to do if she didn't fully explain the severity of the situation? And if Tump really did beat her 80+ times over 2yrs, why did she wait to inform HCMM, let alone law enforcement, that something was going on until December 2016 (Tump beating her once is one time too many - why let it go on that long)? I know that sounds insensitive (and I'll acknowledge that it somewhat is) as it can be extremely difficult for women to confront these situations due to the trauma they have experienced, but it does seem kinda unfair on her part to call out HCMM and CU in the press like this when they aren't the police / it doesn't seem like they knew how ugly the situation truly was. My apologies if the above is offensive (due to someone you know / are close to having been abused in a similar manner) - that is not at all my intent and I'm not trying to make it seem like the woman who went trough this traumatic experience is the bad guy here. There are just a lot of things that don't make sense here and I know the hypocritical libtards in Boulder are going to have a field day with this.
Gotta love how the NCAA announced the won't be going after Baylor for their rape scandal (where former players have actually been charged / arrested / indicted), but dropped the hammer on CU ~15 yrs ago for a "scandal" where not one person was ever arrested / indicted / charged with having committed a crime. Just goes to show the NCAA picks and chooses which schools it wants to punish. They continuously get away with being an unethical, hypocritical, poorly run organization. So I don't doubt you guys, but how did he go from LBs coach to LBs/STs/Recruiting at Nebraska to DC at Purdue while being so bad at all of the above? Usually to get promoted in title you show competence at something, right?

Els was easily one of our 5 worst assistant coaches that i can ever remember, and that may be generous. the only thing i can slightly say in his defense was that pelini stretched him too thin with too many different titles. but our linebackers were atrocious while he was here, special teams were so bad that pelini himself took over ST his last season here and they improved substantially, and recruiting was an unorganized mess while he was RC.
Els was probably the only person dumb enough to take the Purdue DC job given the instability there at the time he took it.
The universe hates everything NU though, so he'll probably win the Broyles award while he's there. Fuck us, always.
Certainly possible he turns out well for us but Chiv is/was a younger up and coming coach. Not the case with Els.
I really can't believe people are complaining about this hire. All we heard about Chev was how awful he was...Fanbases almost always do that.
If there's ever an instance where we can say "trust us", this is it. He fell upwards for the Purdue DC job. Wasn't he was coaching LB's at a Lincoln high school the year after he got let off here?
naw i think the nebraska fanbase on this forum are a fairly realistic lot, we'll give credit where its due (if a couple of our current assistants leave there will probably be a mass suicide). els is a career lower level coach who fell into the nebraska job as a result of his friendship with carl pelini. purdue hired him because they're purdue. i never saw what you hired him for but for your sake hopefully its not a very important title.
He's the ILB coach. For some reason I have trouble trusting a Fanbases who fired Solich and then Pelini because winning 9 and 10 games a year just wasn't acceptable.
I'll trust our cpach of the year who won with a bunch of players who weren't recruited much by P5 schools over Internet posters
Not to mention in every big game he gave up a new record defensively. His defense, what he's known for gave up 408 rushing yards to 1 player in 3 quarters. In 3 quarters Gordon rushed for 15% of his total yards for the season.
I'm sure that was part of it, but I can't count how many times I heard that Bo needed to be fired because he wasn't winning enough.
