He's still pretty raw as a pass blocker. Don't forget he's coming from Columbine, where the pass plays mostly consist of play action bootlegs (and that is IF they run a pass play, which is by no means a guarantee). Not trying to make an excuse for him, just saying what I know to be true since he was there at the same time I was an assistant coach. If anything, the fact that we are throwing a redshirt frosh out there whose prior experience consists of running scout team his redshirt year / playing in a triple option run heavy offense all of HS shows how bad the situation is on the offensive line right now. I understand why people are turning (even more so than earlier in the yr) on Sefo with some of the throws he is missing, but I do not think most realize just how fucked we are up front right now (at least when it comes to pass protection). Pretty hard to get locked in as a QB when you are getting sacked 5+ times per game (and when not getting sacked, getting knocked around what I would imagine is half the time he drops back to pass). The thing I do not understand is why we are trying to pass so much and have basically abandoned a running game that looked like the strength of the offense early in the season. You know that you have an OL that sucks in pass pro, but has shown an ability to open things up in the running game no matter who is in there, and yet we are still seeing Lindgren trying to make this year's offense look like the one from 2014. It just does not make a lot of sense.
I can't remember who said it, but there's a coach that said first you lose big, then you lose small, then you win small, then you win big. To me it feels like Mac is in the lose small phase. Ultimately Arizona has better athletes across the board and CU lost by a TD.
No he's not. The OL hasn't blocked well overall and the play calling has been awful. Plus, Sefo has a seperated shoulder. Lindgren at a minimum needs to go.
We were in the phase last year. At some point there has got to be results. I don't give a fuck about losing close anymore, a loss is a loss. Last year was fine because it was the first time we were competitive, this year there needed to be wins on the board. That isn't happening and we've now blown 3 winnable games. Two that we should have won; tonight and Hawaii
Every OL holds all time. Should I mention the numerous blocks in the back by UA's OL that took away big loss sacks?
Too scared to win and I'm talking about the coaches. HCMM doesn't have "it". The play calling with a lead was understandably conservative and designed to run clock but still, you've got to try to put a team away. He HAS TO beat Oregon State HAS TO.
I'm at the point where even if he beats OSU and maybe WSU, it doesn't mean shit. Everything is in place for this program to take off and MM is holding us back. He stabilized us, now its time to get a head coach that can recruit and *gasp* win more than one conference game a year.
I'd be all for it, but how much would we owe him, and who would want to come here with a bottom third roster of talent in the conference with a short leash?
Facilities are great, admin support, and a team that is not far off....that's not a unattractive job. Compare that to 2012 where the facilities were none existant, admin support was minimal, and the roster was a disaster. This job wouldn't be unattractive, and being in the Pac 12 along increases the allure of the job. I think we will see a few staff changes at the end of the year, but if MM was let go then we could attract some good candidates.
Hello at the show. I will be attending a wedding in Colorado Springs this weekend and will be staying Downtown. Looking for some recs on some breweries, bars, and restaurants in the area to check out Friday afternoon and Sat am. Also, would any of those place be open in the am in which I could watch the Auburn game.
the irish snug is the auburn watch party site, its on colfax and near a bunch of other restaurants and bars. edit: if you mean downtown colorado springs then it appears stadium bar and grill is your spot.
Thanks. I'll be in Colorado Springs. It looks like the Stadium Bar and Grill is closed, but it looks like there should be a few places close to me that would probably have the game.
