I'm glad someone said it. If I were stupid rich and my job would have let me take him on the road with me, Bear would have absolutely been my traveling mate.
Big difference between taking a dog on the road with you when your working circumstances permit and making the dog part of your working environment.
Traveling with him is fine. Forcing him down everyone's throats and putting him on TV every chance they can get is weird.
Working environment meaning that he becomes a part of your work, not just physical presence in a way that is unnoticeable to your coworkers or clients Featuring the dog to the extent that Kirk does is emblematic of there being no distinction between “ESPN Analyst Kirk Herbstreit” and “ESPN Personality Kirk Herbstreit,” which in turn is emblematic of a lot of that network’s problems.
He's a college football tv personality. This isn't some important job. The dog being there is whatever. You guys just hate Kirk, which is fine.
I just don't get the anger about seeing the dog on tv. It's a cute ass golden retriever in the middle of college football games/coverage. I'd like to see more of the dog tbh.
There's lots of things you don't care about that are on ESPN but THIS is the one you want to get angry about. A dog... on TV? Sheesh.
society has lost the plot with letting dogs everywhere in general. he’s just the most visible (and mentally unwell) example of it
I'm sure everyone with pets would love to bring theirs to work with them. only people like Kirk Herbstreit abuse their power and do it. you're telling on yourself that you would act the same way.
there is also a whiff of Kirk lacking humility, having arrogance, about having a full bred proportioned golden retriever which fits into herbstreits larger maga profile
Where did I say I'd be the only one? Weird thing to make it up. I'd love an office where 20% of people could bring their well-behaved pet per day.
I just don't give a fuck about his dog. I have a dog but I don't endlessly remind you of her with endless dog content.
I take my dog everywhere. But she stays outside of any place I don’t own. Kurt Springsteen could learn a thing or two from me.
I don't really care about it in the sense of other people having to deal with the dog at work. I just think it's a view into who Herbstreit is that he wants so badly to be liked and he features the dog publicly to the extent that he does because it's the only thing about him in the last 5-10 years that anyone has ever liked.
You're applying your view to a lot of people here. I think a lot of people like him calling games and unfortunately there's a lot of people that agree with is political takes.
Did his post say TMB? But even then, I'm sure both apply to some here too. Hell I don't mind him on games. I'm used to it, just part of a big cfb game now.
In general, I think people itt are applying their thoughts to others. They don't like Kirk so they don't like anything he does. They assume others feel the same way. The post I quoted was another example of that.
Kirk and Fowler regularly mail it in. They aren’t great at their jobs, we are just used to them in big games. Fewer Kirks and Brandos, more Eagles (both) and Benettis
His post didn't say "the majority of this thread." There's no way to even read it that way bc "the majority of this thread" despise him for it.
Kirk over the last few years as he took on way too many jobs has become quite bad at most of them. While also having a kind of embarrassing mid life crisis that we're supposed to think is charming that we all have to deal with it on every sports show he's on, which is a lot!
If I come out the door and there's a dog playing fetch, I'm asking if I can give them a head rub. I'm definitely not annoyed by it. Some of yall need to lighten up a little.
