Chevy had a real racist history with that show and a real beef with Donald Glover. Chevy was known for using racial slurs and justified it by saying Richard Pryor gave him permission
My bad, though he was dark blue do appreciate Jenny Slate and other white voice actors stepping down from voice acting gigs for black characters
Maybe I’m wrong but he wasn’t dressing up as a black person but as a dark elf and Shirley addresses the racism. Not sure why they are taking it down.
I agree but if it’s offensive to someone that’s black I’m not going to tell them they’re wrong. Not for me to decide
The 30 Rock and The Office episodes being cut I understand. This one is difficult for me to understand. Wish they’d just edit the episode.
I don’t see the problem in showing racism when it comes from a place of ignorance or shown in a negative light, it’s addressed by minority characters and in some cases even corrected by the offending character. sometimes comedies do the best jobs at addressing these types of issues. Michael Scott was a real piece of shit many times, but he was willing to listen and learn for the most part and the character grew through the course of the show. far be it from me to tell someone what that should be offended by, and I can deal without some old tv episodes just fine if that’s what needs to happen, but that’s just my perspective. adding a PSA and keeping the stuff around makes more sense to me than pretending it doesn’t exist.
Agree. For example, I think Bojack addresses depression and abortion better than any other show I’ve seen
Season 1, The Art of Discourse (2009) During the food fight at the end when the texts over each person’s names pop up like the end of a college movie, Britta’s text is “Owner of a used IPod Nano, 2014.” 5 years later,Pierce gifts her an iPod nano in his will. That is a joke I definitely missed on first watch and only caught tonight because of the table read they did a few weeks ago of the will episode.
The storyline with Jeff/Britta and the high school kids could certainly be annoying on rewatches. The underlying Abed/Troy first-year-of-college story is fantastic though.
Been watching this show a ton the last few weeks, have loved it so far. Just hit season 4. Is the drop off that steep or still pretty good, just not quite the earlier level with Harmon?
It’s pretty steep for season for. 5 is solid but really struggles when Troy leaves. 6 is a real struggle.
Maybe because I binged it all, but 6 really struggled for me. 4 was by far the worst, but it took me 2+ weeks to finish 6 after watching 1-3 in less than a week
On rewatch, I really liked 6. Pager Brewster is good. I didn’t like the complete absence of Donald on first viewing but going back to it later knowing he wouldn’t be there allowed me to appreciate it for being what it was. And it’s actually good.
5-6 arent up to 1-3 but there are some great episodes and very solid once you take it for what it is post glover. I will skip over 4 on any rewatch. Just all around dog shit.
I actually like 5-6. Not as good as 1-3 but still some good stuff for characters I grew to really like over the course of the show. Still better than 90% of other shows out there.
Just watched Season 6 for the first time. Couple good eps. Grifting and Garrett’s Wedding eps got me good. Decent finale.
Better than seasons 4 or 5 I say, and better than most other comedies on TV. A solid finale set of shows.
Thrown of Hawkthorne tonight Metric fuckton of Easter eggs in this one: Hilda’s menu being the leader...but also The agreement that elder Pierce tries to get Gilbert to sign aren’t the words he’s saying during the scene - it’s actually text from the 3/5th Compromise https://thejoshian.wordpress.com/20...nity-s03e20-digital-estate-planning-spoilers/
Watching community going to sleep. Got to troys birthday party EP. “Troys birthday is tomorrow, December 4th”
In season 5 on my rewatch. I always thought of 5/6 not as good as 1-3 but man there is a solid run of top tier episodes in the beginning part of 5. Asscrack bandit, geothermal escapism, and meow meow beanz are all elite episodes. And one of the hardest times I laugh in the series "It's a bear dance!!!"
Totally forgot they got rid of the D&D episode. Was watching last night and pierce referenced the game and I had to stop and go back through the ep list and make sure I didn’t skip the EP accidentally
Just about to hit Troy and Abed finding lost Fievel with their American Tail duet. Easily a top 5 scene which gives me goosebumps every damn time somewhere, out there...beneath the pale moon niiiIiiiIiiight!
