i have two major thoughts: 1. everyone has the right to live the life they want, one that makes them happy, assuming what their doing isn't hurting anyone. lgbtqia+ people are not inherently harmful simply because they exist, however they still can be because that individual might be a shit person. bigotry is harmful always, period, full stop. 2. any parent who claims to support the lgbtqia+ communities but don't want their children exposed to it really only support it if their children aren't part of it. if this seems directed at you i've got news for you: the kid either is or they aren't and there's not a god damn thing you can do about it. there's no amount of exposure to reality that's going to make a straight person gay or cis person trans, and there's no amount of propaganda that will make a gay person straight or trans person cis. sorry, just the fucking truth might as well deal with that. however what that propaganda is most likely going to do is cause your kid to live a miserable life and have a relatively high chance of suicide. why? because mommy and daddy don't love them unconditionally, they only love them if their straight and cis. and frankly, if that were how i saw my children, i'd feel more shame than anyone has ever felt.

Not going to lie. About 5 years ago I was one that cried about the “intolerant left.” A series of life events outside of my control forced me to rethink my thoughts and my entire worldview. I was definitely a product of my environment. But if this cis white male in his 40s can do it, plenty of others can. I am so thankful for a lot of what I was taught and learned growing up in small rural towns in the Bible belt one one hand but on the other hand jfc, there is a whole world outside of the one you grow up in. The biggest realization came to me when I realized just how fucking absolutely arrogant I was to think that I had the whole world figured out at the age of 25 and none of my thoughts or views had altered one bit by the time I was 40. People 100% stay in the dark because that is where the environment they were brought up in wants to keep them and they are fine with the comfort level they have there.

My son knew who Andrew Tate was when I asked him about him. He says he gets suggested clips of him on YouTube despite him just watching clips from video games or Mr Beast or whatever. I love the blaming the kids angle.
