The ref is 100% the reason this game is as heated as it is. He gave Mexico a platform to act like shit bags, didn’t give the cards he should. It’s one thing to lose control of a game, it’s an entirely different thing to pour gas and set it on fire.
Never in a million years would I ever expect to see us 1st place in CONCACAF after 8 games including both games against Mexico and a road game against the USA
It’s consistent CONCACAF for the last 50 years. They are protected even more than the ACC protects Duke and UNC basketball.
The ref was amateurish from the start as is typical in this region. Doneil Henry got away with murder to start the match on two plays. He ended up knocking out Lozano out of the game. Then Gallardo got away with a clear yellow on a breakaway in the second half. It’s always a shit show in this here concacaf. There isn’t a conspiracy to allow Mex to act like bad hombres, ye scallywag.
Fucking El Tri shitbags even trying to cause shit after the match. Easily the most unlikeable national team of this hemisphere since Argentina of the 1950s.
He did let Henry get away with a bunch. Then it settled down. Then he stopped calling obvious fouls and actively confronting Canadian players.
You think? Guaranteed Yon de Luiza Plazas is already on the phone with CONCACAF HQ. The conversation is going something like this: YdLP: This is an OUTRAGE! How will you fix it? CHQ: We’re in internal discussions. The preliminary plan includes screwing the USMNT in The Azteca. What do you think, Jefe? YdLP: Of course, idiots. That is obvious. I want specifics. CHQ: We are thinking of the usual instructions to the referees: 1) yellow and red cards will be considered for ET only after the result for ET is not in doubt. This does not mean the card will be issued, but will be considered. For example, if a USMNT player suffers a broken leg, it will be considered, but only AFTER the result for ET is not in doubt. In most such circumstances the official will give “advantage” to the ET attack. In no circumstances will a red card be issued. 2) The officials will be instructed to consider their personal safety at all times. For example, if an ET player chokes a USMNT player, say, 2 feet directly in front of an official, the official shall consider what consequences a yellow or red card might have upon his personal health as he makes his decision. 3) if an official calls a foul against ET and an ET player takes the free kick, the official will allow it. 4) if ET scores a goal and the USMNT GK holds the ball, the ET players will be allowed to kick the shit out of the GK. 5) ET “studs up” into a USMNT player’s foot, ankle, leg, abdomen, neck, face or head will be a simple foul, at most. But probably incidental. YdLP: I agree with all of that, but it seems inadequate. Get back to me with an enhanced protocol in 7 days.
