I think OL and DL are of equal need, so rank all those guys and take the best available. What I’m afraid will happen is there will be a surprise pick ahead of us that causes us to reach for an OL, and we’ll pass on a future pro bowl pass rusher that everybody feels is better anyways.
Not to be a homer but why wouldn’t we take Jonah over Ford. The only knock on him is his reach and he’s got slightly longer arms than Dillard.
if the OT from Washington State is there I'd take him, otherwise go best DL available and don't over think it. and for the love of everything don't trade up
I love our generational player Julio whom we gave up an arm and a leg to get, but we’ve got a lot of midrounds picks that we could really use to shore up our shitty lines and defensive depth.
There’s obviously a ton of risk involved but I’d rather hold on to those midround picks and just take Simmons instead of trading up a few spots for Wilkins.
oh no, I hadn't even pondered this disastrous scenario but now I am praying someone takes the 2 Iowa kids before us. Please Detroit, do Detroit things
Anyone know how far Polite has fallen to where he’s currently projected? Dan loves him some Florida kids.
The thing about this draft is that its depth really aligns with our needs. Plenty of elite and quality lineman, solid DBs, and only one marquee RB so they’ll be a ton available in the midrounds. The thing that makes me skeptical that we actually have a good draft is that in the last few weeks we’ve signed a bunch of has-beens (the NO DT, Wilcox, Rasheed) at positions of need. If TD thinks those band aids have shored up our weaknesses and then goes full TD, I’m gonna be pissed.
the depth in this draft lines up so nice with our needs that I would have guessed we would look at trading *back* rather than trading up (forget that we have Dimitroff who does the exact opposite of the Belichick blueprint)
I’d really like something like the Saints 2017 draft where they got Lattimore, Ramczyk, Williams, and Kamara. Talking about hitting on your picks.
Imagine if we trade up and lose picks after winning games at the end of the season to fall like 8 spots. Genius
Have Bryant come out to kick a fg to just give us a worse draft pick then you CUT HIS ASS ANYWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You mean if we trade up to get him or if we just draft him period? If it's the former, then agreed, I'd be done for at least a month or two. But seems like he'd be a solid pick in general if he fell, and could bench Duke or whatever non-playmaker we're starting over there beside Deion.
I don’t see Bush falling. After him and White, there is a huge drop in talent until the next tier of LB’s, right? Thoughts on Sweat, now that reports are his heart condition was misdiagnosed?
Im not that high on the player, but I could see a reasonable argument to be high on Bush. I still thought his dad was worthless for us back in the day. He would be a solid pick in a vacuum. But (a) Linebacker is not a top end of 1st round value position. Unless its an extremely rare talent. (b) This franchise has routinely neglected OL and DL, and cant afford to keep doing so. (c) This is arguably the deepest DL draft this century; thus why on earth would you mortgage other draft assets to draft a 5'11 ILB? You dont need to give up assets to fill a glaring need....and a guy like Christian Wilkins could fall to 14 when in a lot of other drafts he'd be the #1 overall DT.
Yeah, I love Bush's game and think he'll be a really good LB in the league, but we have to go LOS with the first. Spoiler I cant wait to draft Greedy
Wilkins or Sweat please. I'd also be ok with OT and hoping Dexter Lawrence or another solid defensive lineman is there in round 2
We can always get Trysten Hill on day 2 or early day 3. Strong as an ox and can chug fireball at Big sky 36 hours before deep dicking Auburn.
