Is that money going to Howard university hospital though? Seems like it’s going to the university. Personally, I have a problem with a school who’s endowment is $700 million getting a handout in this bill. Now gaetz only brought it up because he’s a racist piece of shit but i don’t think any school with an endowment above say $100 million should be getting a dime in a bill like this. If they throw money to the hospital at Howard fine but this is not what they are doing. universities are more responsible for the spiraling student loan crisis do to their tuition increases far outpacing tuition than anyone. If we want to give them money, it should be tied to tuition freezes. /student loan and mismanagement of university finances rant by someone working in that world
I don’t understand what he’s saying. Prevention is the social distancing that’s causing the economic concerns that prompted the bailout bill. There are multiple treatment studies ongoing currently and the cure is going to be a vaccine - also currently being studied.
He’s saying that now more than ever our hospital systems need money, we passed a massive stimulus bill in the middle of this under the guise of it being to fix the virus, but the industry that might need our help the most is largely hung out to dry. hospitals shouldn’t be talking about going bankrupt and lacking supplies when the fed can print however much money it wants to hand out to big businesses to protect shareholders.
I don’t think enough was given to hospitals and to states like NY in the bill. We should have seen more focus on them for this. Anything besides fixing our broken healthcare system isn’t going to fix the hospitals altogether though. Too many administrators and non-patient staff are needed because of the ridiculous processes and procedures run by our health industry.
Today is the day I tell my retired, Vietnam veteran dad that he needs to quit killing my future, so he better get his ass back in the workforce.
Sigh. Recent reports from China recommending bear bile injections as a Covid-19 cure. Instagram spoilered due to content matter. Spoiler
SIAP but the teenager in California May have died from other causes, also said the urgent care turned him away from lack of insurance. https://apple.news/AT2sWKxtDRqyaZSPbC4BxBg
One of my best friends growing up thinks he has it. He lives in Sacramento and went to work all last week and found out Monday that a coworker has it. I talked to him last night and he has an awful cough and he’s running a 102 fever. He’s also a little person and has asthma and we’re all worried as hell
Talked to my buddies wife who is a nurse at Tufts in Boston again, she had just wrapped up her 15th day straight of 12s. She’s off today where she plans to do nothing but sleep They are getting one mask per day but other than that ppe is fine, morale remains high despite a large percentage of the staff contracting the virus already. She would’ve gone back in today if she wasn’t forced to take the day off healthcare has some of the best ppl in the world, they are working hard for us
This is awesome, and you’re also not wrong. When this ends, I hope everyone supports these people in any way possible, because there is going to be some serious PTSD in our medical community.
Just read an article where The Cheesecake Factory can’t pay rent to any of their landlords on the first.
holy shit. Boris is manipulating shit worse than trump! The British government has made the US response look great.
People smart on the topic, this article seems to imply that epidemiologist models are not taking in to account the fact that more people are infected vs. confirmed cases. Suggests that death rage could be far lower. Surely not, right? if you study this as your job, you would take some measure to expand your denominator when calculating death rate, yes? https://www.wsj.com/articles/is-the...64?redirect=amp#click=https://t.co/KJvgkdqKNT
One of those most popular chain restaurants in the world doesn’t have enough cheese in the bank to float for one month? That’s just shitty planning.
I’ll most likely have to go back once that happens and will 100% catch it. So, in preparations we’ve devised a plan so I’d be living out of my car in our parking deck. America!
his incompetence is going to be why this epl season will end up voided. it breaks my heart that such a thing is even a possibility but unfortunately it is the correct call
https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/26/health/therapy-dog-er-doctor-trnd-wellness/index.html Spoiler (CNN)Heroes come in all shapes and sizes -- this one just happens to have four legs and a furry coat. Wynn, a service dog in training, is bringing joy and comfort to the medical staff on the front lines of the coronovirus fight in Denver. The one-year-old yellow Labrador serves up cuddles to health care workers who need a much needed mental break from the emergency room at Rose Medical Center. Wynn is no stranger to the medical staff, as she's being trained by Susan Ryan, an emergency physician at the hospital. Ryan shared an image of the two of them on Sunday. In it, the doctor is seen wearing a face shield and a mask while sitting on the floor of the hospital petting Wynn. "I saw Wynn coming back in from being walked outside," Ryan told CNN. "I just slumped down on the floor and said 'can I just have a minute with her'?'" Ryan said she had just finished with a patient and washed up before getting some quality time with Wynn. "Seeing stuff and hearing stuff that you can't unsee has an impact on you," Ryan said. "That's where the dogs come in. When you are in the presence of the dog and petting them you are taking a moment to ground yourself at that present time." Wynn is currently being trained to become an assistance dog for Canine Companions for Independence, a non-profit that provides assistance dogs free of charge to adults, children and veterans with disabilities, according to its website. Ryan has been training Wynn since she was eight weeks old. She frequently takes the pup to the hospital for visits. "It's been the brightest part of our day," Ryan said. Now, Wynn is set up in the social workers office and on-call for staffers who need some puppy love to relieve stress. In the room, lights are dimmed and meditation music plays to provide the best place for medical staff to take a little mental break before returning to their jobs. Don't worry, everyone that comes in contact with Wynn thoroughly washes their hands before touching her Ryan suggests to help emergency room doctors, people should make sure they practice social distancing, wash their hands and take care of themselves. "This will decrease the surge that will hit us," Ryan said. " We took an oath. We will stand up and show up." She also said that she was very moved by seeing the videos shared on social media of people sharing their support for medical staff. #Solidarityat8 is a social media movement that asks people to go on their balconies or open their windows at 8 p.m. to cheer, clap or just make some noise to honor the people who continue to work in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and other medical facilities. "We are all in this together," she said. "We can be connected by kindness, love and four paws." For some virtual puppy love, Canine Companions for Independence has a live stream of a puppy camera daily that features some of their newest additions.
It doesn’t really matter what the “real” death rate is though. COVID induced respiratory failure cases are swamping hospitals in this country and around the globe. That’s the emergency. It’s happening no matter what games people are trying to play to justify the president saying “nothing to see here. Go back to work.”
