Not that anyone here needs convincing, but me and I believe a few other posters had spouses or kids get COVID and we never got it, with a supposedly much more contagious strain too.
Phase 1 and 2 overlapped a lot, and I believe Pfizer and Moderna started recruiting for Phase 3 before 1 and 2 fully wrapped up.
Struggled to explain to my 9 year old how the shot he just took works, this is awesome. Can't wait to watch it with all my kids.
My 8 year old son got it 12 days ago and my 4 year old daughter got it from him last week despite us keeping them apart. Neither my wife or I has tested positive the kast 2 weeks and are both J&J vaxxed and Moderna boostered. Both of us had something the last couple weeks that had us feeling crappy, but all PCR tests negative for us. Both of us were sicker then the kids, who had cold symptoms for a few days and are now fine.
My 4 year old got it from my MIL who had a breakthrough and honestly I wouldn't have kept her home had I not known my MIL tested positive the day after she ate dinner with us. The kid has had worse symptoms just dealing with a runny nose from the air turning dry than COVID.
Yeah, my daughter had a runny nose and an occasional lowgrade fever for maybe 48 hours. My son had a runny nose and felt junky for a few days, but no major symptoms.
Hi yes. Oddly though one of my kids didn't get it but one kid and wife did. Vaccine makes sense for me but not the other kid
I'm due for a test again. Picked up a cold a few weeks ago on a stop-over while returning from Europe, tested negative, and did some additional traveling. Meanwhile I still haven't gotten back to 100%, but have only had very mild symptoms (and never a fever). What's giving me some pause is that whatever I've got has presented in ways that just seem strange, with things coming and going. Never a persistent sore throat, only a very weak one at times (more of the sinus type of discomfort) never a persistent cough, on/off again headache... just weirdness.
Got my booster on Saturday and holy fuck did I feel like complete dog shit yesterday. Just like cloud and pressure head, no energy, aches and my arm and shoulder hurt like a mother fucker. I iced my upper arm and shoulder like 8 times yesterday. Woke up today and feeling alright. Just a little dehydrated. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. Edit: My arm hurt a little after the first shot. Not even anything to complain about though, just move a certain way and you would feel it. Yesterday the fucker was just throbbing. Second shot, not even a sore arm.
Signed up for my booster shot Friday. Apparently getting Moderna. Had 2 Pfizer shots, but that Singapore study claims 2+1 Pfizer/Moderna might be better
My 8 year old is signed up to get the vaccine at 4pm today. Just had a rather heated argument with my mother about this fact. Needed some common sense to calm me down; thanks TMB.
It would seem so, but there were a couple negative PCR tests and rapid tests for each of my wife and I during the times we were symptomatic. I wonder if us getting boosters at the beginning - like right as my son was exposed - has anything to do with not testing positive. I certainly felt like shit for a few days, like days 4-8 after getting the booster, but never had a cough or a fever. Same with my wife, but days 11-15 after booster. Like maybe we were fighting it and felt shitty, but somehow not enough to test positive. I'm just grasping at straws here.
Doing the same crossover booster (+flu) tomorrow. Fiancée more skeptical of the cross-vaxx so she’s repeating Pfizer for her booster on the weekend.
no way to know edit: sort of. you can get an antibody test for non-spike antibodies to see if you've ever had covid
Took my Grandson this morning to get the first shot. It was extremely obvious he was scared but my son and i were there so he didn’t want to appear scared. I told him I needed him to be protected and that I loved him and that’s why we are there. Took him and hit him a large vanilla bean drink from Starbucks and hot him some gummies. Hopefully the symptoms aren’t too bad.
PCR negative. Given the total non-severity of, we'll, anything - I'm not surprised. But it's hard to ignore the nagging possibility of evasion too. So annoying.
Have any of you managed to get a Digital version of your vaccination status? I see there is the SMART health card, will any pharmacy give me that when I get my booster? In time I’d like to be able to get the EU Digital Green Cert to accept my US vaccination for ease but that needs a QR code before the health authorities will process it.
Got my Pfizer booster today, took almost an hour at Walgreens due to the paramedics being called in to stretcher out seriously obese woman from the urgent care and a roidless looking Brock Lesner getting into a verbal altercation with the slow pharmacist because his elderly mothers meds were taking too long to fill. I may continue to socially distance for non-Covid reasons.
Are you in Tulsa? I’ve been looking at getting ours scheduled but from what I can find, I’ve only seen Pfizer boosters available. I know you can mix and match but was just wondering if the Moderna ones are available and I’m getting bad info
Getting my 9 year old vaxxed tomorrow. He’s been rocking that mask in school all year long too. So proud of him.
So I got my Moderna booster yesterday. I was scheduled to get it this Friday at 4:30. The second shot absolutely kicked my ass, so I thought if the booster does the same, I'd better get it on the weekend. My wife (who is fucking paranoid and superstitious) INSISTED we go to our PCP, the same place we got our first two shots. (Logic being that if we survived the first two from the good doc, we will also survive the booster) Only problem is our PCP decided to go to Tahiti or some shit for Thanksgiving so he rescheduled for yesterday. OF COURSE I got fucking LEVELED by the booster. Moderate to severe body aches, chills and a high fever. But the wierd thing is that I could NOT sleep last night. I laid there with my eyes closed all night, but never fell asleep. To say that I will be dragging ass today at work will be an understatement. My wife? Zero symptoms and slept like a baby. Bitch.
Not a doctor, but isn’t the sentiment that if the vaccine gives you symptoms then the actual virus would be worse? No clue if that’s an actual thing just something I heard so it may very well be bullshit.
Aaaand just like the 2nd dose, woke up at 3am with a 102 fever and my body feeling like I got hit by a truck.
Not sure where in Tulsa you're at, but I got the Moderna booster at the CVS on 61st and Lewis. Just went to the website and filled out the questionnaire and they have Moderna appointments every hour today from 12:30-7:00. Most have Pfizer, but there's a couple other stores that have Moderna as well with the same amount of appointments depending on what's closer to you.
I’m up north in Bartlesville, I see the Moderna boosters available at several CVS locations in Tulsa but the one up here only shows Pfizer. Thanks for the tip
