He oversees the astronaut life support system like I would oversee it. *long explanation from scientists, doctors and engineers* Me - Yep looks good
Dude should challenge Elon to fill out an advanced care directive declining intubation. If it's so bad, and increases mortality risk, then surely he wouldn't want it.
Now thats hes bested Yann Lecun, a worlds foremost expert in AI, he's taking on emergency medicine doctors
On infection #2 Small fever for a day, sore throat, intermittent cough. Uncomfy. Big wave rn it seems
Wife and I both got it after our cruise. Wasn't that bad for me, just two days of congestion and some aches. Hit my wife a bit harder, she was sleeping all day for a couple of days. We both got a booster in October and likely got this new variant I'm guessing.
Actually I never tested myself but my wife and I were sick at the same time and her rapid test was instantly positive so there's no way I didn't have the same thing.
I did a rapid on my wife and it was positive. I feel great and she can hardly walk. Will do another rapid later to see if I've still got it. If I do, I'm worried I might give it to her mom, too
Not that I'm glad I got it, but it sure does beat getting strep throat or norovirus from my kid. Would take COVID ten times out of ten at this point.
I saw some tv program that was playing in a sports bar (couldn't hear it) that had a doctor talking about clotting in covid patients. So, I came to tmb for people that know much more than me. Has there been an uptick in clotting cases? Found the program and yeah, this looks like some sort of infomercial: Spoiler: Screenshot Her playlist and talking points are pretty chuddy.
For me my throat wasn't in that much pain, I just had the absolute most intense vomiting I've had in years for about 36 hours.
Strep is interesting in that rare cases it can get systemic if not treated and fuck up your joints for life and you get strep very easily from then on too Get strep treated, riding it out can be shitty
I knew a guy who's kid would carry it but not be symptomatic and he would get strep every few months and they didn't know why until they figured it out.
‘Very high’ COVID levels detected in 7 states (KTLA) — Coronavirus levels in California’s wastewater have reached a “very high” level for the first time since last winter. According to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the trend matches what’s being reported in several other states. The Golden State was one of seven states with “very high” levels. The others were Arkansas, Florida, Maryland, Nevada, Oregon and Texas. In Los Angeles County, the nation’s most populous, coronavirus levels in wastewater have also increased. COVID cases rising in L.A. County; Mayor Karen Bass tests positive For a 10-day period that ended on June 29, the most recent data available from the county’s health department, COVID levels in the county were at 27% of last winter’s peak. That’s a significant increase from a dataset ending on June 26 when the county was just at 17%. The daily average cases have also increased, from 215 for the week ending June 26 to 307 for the week ending July 7. Overall, coronavirus levels have increased nationwide, indicating a summer trend continuing to grow. Two new COVID variants, known as FLiRT, are responsible for more than half of the latest rise in cases. Experts have found that the latest variants are highly transmissible but don’t cause more severe disease.

just tested positive....2nd time I'm aware of. came down with some stuffy/runny nose yesterday, persisted thru night. sneezing like a MF'er today and my nose had this weird tingle that I've only experienced with covid the first time. we had one test....took it and it went positive the second the test passed the T line. now I'm now locked in our spare bedroom meanwhile my ps5 and new college football game is in the main living room where my kids are. FML. feel fine tho fwiw.
How long does it typically take for paxlovid to start working? My mom hasn’t been feeling well the last couple days, went to a walk in and tested positive yesterday. She took her first round of it last night and isn’t feeling better today just the same. Her symptoms are a bad cold mostly a really bad sore throat. I’m not too worried since it hasn’t gotten worse. She’s just frustrated obviously so trying to reassure her that it has been an effective medication and to give it some time.
Its more important role is preventing her symptoms from progressing and worsening. Sounds like it’s doing its job so far.
Thanks for the input. It’s her first time knowingly she has covid, she and my dad have fortunately avoided it until now. He didn’t test but pretty sure he had it this past week and his symptoms were just mild with some fatigue and common cold symptoms.
just tested positive for covid. I feel like crap but not as terrible as i did the first time i got it back in 2021
I’m in PHX for work and we thought it was just allergies. Congestion cough runny nose. Apparently the wife got up this morning after I flew out and tested positive so I guess I’m positive. SWEET!
(just tested positive) To elaborate, the other times I have gotten Covid I had miserable reactions to it. Horrible body aches, fatigue, chills, fever, etc I had a light fever for probably 12 hours and some mild aches in my lower body and otherwise this has been a cold
Tested positive with nearly no symptoms though. Wife had a fever last week (tested positive) now 7 year old wasn’t feeling well but he’s already bounced back this morning to feeling pretty normal. kinda annoyed none of our GPs mentioned any vaccine updates. Last time we all got them was 2022. Had no idea there were updates as information around them isn’t being talked about even by our own doctors
I think it's safe to assume that this is going to mutate every year, like the flu, and there should be an updated booster released each fall. There's a new, possibly very different and therefore more resistant to existing immunity, variant going around that is responsible for the huge number of cases we're seeing.
My in laws came to visit staggered over the past week. Pretty certain my mother in law had Covid currently. She started getting sick yesterday afternoon. She is in the room next to us isolating, and I’m terrified that she has already infected the whole house (she babysat for us on yesterday morning).
