It's really rather jaw-dropping, numbers-wise. I live in a city of ~5 million, so small-to-medium-sized city. It somehow doesn't feel like that many people to me, which has been one of the biggest surprises. I thought it would be something I hate, being a small-town kid from Nebraska.

The Pearl River Delta metro is just absurd. You have five (5!) cities >7 mm (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Foshan, Hong Kong) and then a handful of others between 3-5 mm. This is also where the SARS outbreak happened (Patient Zero was a farmer from near Foshan). It's important to remember the numbers at play here...puts these outbreaks in context (it's not doomsday).
