Alaska set records on back to back days for daily new positive tests (on Sunday and Monday nonetheless).
Yeah, it appears Sobotka got it backwards. I think they posted it a couple weeks ago and took it down (maybe pressured to do so). Now CDC puts it back up. https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/05/health/cdc-covid-19-airborne-transmission-guidance/index.html
Most lay people have no idea how to distinguish between these 2 things. For many, they think airborne is being motivated by the car incident. They are unrelated.
No one will ever refer to an event as “future president ____ Katrina” ever again. “Future president ____ covid” will be the line used for the next century to describe incompetence during a national emergency.
So we do employer COVID testing, and since there has been an outbreak at one of the hospitals in town, we'll be having a bunch of people coming thru here to get tested now. Yay. Luckily we have a mobile medical trailer we'll be sending them to to get tested but that's still a bunch of exposure for me.
My SIL is a nurse in Detroit who quit back in April and now has a contact tracing job for the time being. The stories she has been telling us about people she has been talking to is scary. She said to get prepared, this is about to get a lot worse and she thinks Covid won’t be under control until about this time next year.
Bi-daily reminder that Ron Johnson fucking sucks and that he once had a near drowning experience when he forgot to close his mouth while taking a shower. Republican Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, who literally just tested positive last week along with the leader of his party, told a conservative talk show that there is currently, ahem, “unjustifiable hysteria” about the coronavirus. “Why do we think we actually can stop the progression of a contagious disease?” Johnson asked, stopping short of saying only Jesus can do that. “[F]rom Day One, we never should have gone through the shutdowns. … We’ve got to carry on with our lives.”
Saying we shouldn't try and fix something because God will fix it if that's what he wants is my favorite type of GOP logic
A local high school canceled school for the rest of the week. Locally, we are doing 2 days in person, 2 days remote learning and one day to deep clean busses and Schools. Can't help but tewe will be 100% remote right around the time Thanksgiving break rolls around
literally his idol is isolated/dying and this dipshit thinks thats the perfect symbolism to say everything is fine let's just have full stadiums.
My connect in the Hard Rock staff says they’re gonna listen to the mayor and CDC guidelines. At least for now. I told him that business and the pursuit of money will have them raising that cap sooner or later.
So I figured as much but it's getting confirmed it's all Florida stadiums and not just a Stephen Ross/dolphins thing
Welp first in my family to have prolonged direct exposure with someone who just tested positive. I lost the bet.
We will see how things go. Mask and, most days, a shield wearer. More afraid for the high risk students that we/the positive person are around :(
Waiting on HR and health services. Don't think I will be told to do anything other than monitor my symptoms.
Damn...I missed early in all of this that the grandma that accidentally invited the two random guys to Thanksgiving, and they've been going ever since, her husband died. Legit made me sad.
All in-person teaching has been halted in my large school district. We're virtual with high needs students attending 4 times a week if they elected. We are no longer teaching in-person for who knows how long.
so ya’ll went back for a bit then they nixed that or was your exposure to a high needs student who elected to come back? we go back 10/26. half Mon/Tues half Wed/Thurs
Our district started virtual. Families with students in SPED were given the choice to receive 4 days a week of 8-12 teaching in-person or to receive virtual learning. Just now, our district elected to postpone all in-person teaching through all services indefinitely. Our county/the greater MKE area is not looking good.
Today is my first day back at work. Physically I'm fine but mentally I'm still sluggish. It's almost like it's my first day.
