FWIW if you can find a legitimate article questioning the efficacy or safety of the vaccine, post it so people can review and find flaws or confirm it’s findings We don’t work from the conclusion we want backwards with science a.tramp
I’m beginning to suspect the $1.6B invested might not have been totally based on merit….oh well no need to revisit it
Topol posted the mix and match meeting slides for the FDA approval, and they have a couple slides on safety and stats
Yeah, no one once has provided me with any sort of data to back up any claim they had. The most anyone has done was send me video(s) with impassioned rhetoric without any sort of scientific or medical data. Like I said, was just genuinely curious if the vaccines in their current states for the current variants and was a resolved matter or if there are ongoing efforts to tweak them.
Just say you're immunocompromised if you really want a full third dose, they aren't going to require you to produce a doctor's certificate I'd imagine. Likely a third shot of the half dose will be more than enough to last you for many months if you're fully vaccinated already.
I believe either Moderna or Pfizer has already been testing a Delta specific booster as well on a small group.
Neighbors (in their 40s) got vaccinated in January (healthcare) and panicked when delta started creeping up and got a full moderna third dose booster over their two previous Pfizer’s. Said it was nothing more than headache, fatigue and mild fever for less than 48 hours.
Seems like using the BMI condition or "I work in a high risk environment" would be the safest reasons. Although unlikely, I guess it's possible that Walgreen's could put you down for having a serious disease, and it somehow makes its way to your insurance.
1,500 Americans died of covid-19 yesterday and anybody trying to do anything to knock that number down is a pariah to the right wing of this country. We passed more American deaths from covid-19 than from the Civil War a bit ago and it largely went unmarked. This country is a nightmare.
I have high blood pressure Trying to figure out how to get the Moderna third booster or just go the Pfizer route. Just not sure I want to wait around for the booster to be available. I don’t give af about if it makes me sick. The Moderna shots just made my arm sore and sleepy
I thought FDA was supposed to be coming to a conclusion this afternoon/evening on Moderna boosters? CDC to follow shortly thereafter.
I should’ve clarified that they just walked into a pharmacy that was offering moderna abd asked for a vaccine (like they’d never gotten one before) and got it no questions asked. So this would be full dose pre booster moderna
Basically a 9/11 for 250 days straight in terms of lost American lives and the people that are most impassioned about making sure 9/11 is never forgotten are the very people trying to make covid into not only a non-issue, but also label those in power trying to do something as fascists & domestic terrorists.
I know there’s been some stats that show this might actually be a good thing to do, but how likely/easily will it be to do? Just find a place that has Moderna and sign up? Wasn’t sure if you’d run into any issues doing it, so was planning on just doing Pfizer again.
Why the huge flip for younger people? When you find the answer it’ll all make sense. And it’s not that the vaccine is miraculous in younger people.
I'm still not sure what this means. Can I now go get a J&J booster (or mix and match) or does CDC have to still approve ?
Yeah I mean it literally makes no sense that more people would get it who were vaccinated. At absolute worst it would be flat if the vaccine offered no protection… but yeah
say you used to smoke you’ll qualify. Saying your bmi puts you in the overweight category and you’ll qualify.
The other thing is that the UK is likely testing A LOT MORE than the US is. I know things aren't on lockdown there anymore hence people going out and probably getting breakthrough infections, but I'd imagine that they're doing a better job of making testing a hell of a lot easier.
Spoiler UF, which resides in a state run by, hmm, a person by the name of Ron Desantis, apparently is doing too much to keep its students, faculty, and staff from dying. A couple hours north: https://www.ajc.com/education/uga-s...-19-complications/EWGWOUBC3BGQXH43MQVR7PTAXA/ Would be super nice to keep exposure down as much as possible while scientists and doctors really nail down more treatments and stuff before we destroy peoples' lives and families
At a 100% vaccinated school, it seems silly to continue masking everywhere if community transmission is very low. I'm getting my booster today as part of the Moderna trial I'm in and once my 4 year old gets her shot I'll probably not worry about all of us masking indoors as long as some new variant doesn't rip through even recently vaccinated immune systems.
It's silly to try to do the bare minimum when there are still 1,500 people and 70,000 cases a day in the US. Mask and vaccine work better then mask and no vaccine or vaccine and no mask. If people would do both for a few more months it would maybe make a difference without causing any stress on the economy and education systems. But everybody wants to move on the minute things improve, keeping us in this cycle. I know it's bullshit that the responsible people are the ones who need to keep making the effort, but that's these United States.
Again, this is all predicated on how much community spread there is. The US is a huge country and in Southern California cases aren't near as high as they are in other parts, you aren't going to get a massive outbreak in a completely vaccinated community even with Delta. That was the whole idea during the summer when the CDC initially said if you were vaccinated you could start moving around unmasked. I'm not flippantly deciding to throw caution to the wind, I look at the state and our county's numbers every day.
