What’s the timeline of arm soreness? Mines still sore af and red. Edit: it’s still not near as bad as a flu shot I had back in ‘19. Made my whole upper arm swell up.
Tigers possible your wife got really exposed and maybe had a breakthrough infection between the second shot and the booster.
Ooooh that could be bad. We'll have to wait and see, though China has been saying reproductive damage from covid happens even since the middle of last year
I get Moderna shot #2 on Thursday. I know I’ll take heat for this and that’s ok: I wasn’t planning on getting vaccinated because I’ve already had it (prior to vax availability). However, some clients are now requiring vaccination so I am getting it done.
Covid is not getting eradicated. I would blame criticise this guy for individual arrogance but then you read headlines likes from the WHO saying “the world can stop Covid when it wants to” and you realise it isn’t confined to a few individuals.
I mean given the efficacy of the vaccines it’s possible but it’s not gonna happen given the political climate in various countries
That’s not “taking heat”. That’s telling all of us that you’re an idiot that is only doing the thing that’s right because you have to.
It’s not just the political climate, it’s society as a whole. Romania got an endless supply of vaccines from the EU but only 30% would take it (huge wave there now) because of what happened under communism. Less than 7% here (and it’s smaller in reality as we don’t capture who was jabbed below) are unvaccinated and aside from the really tiny antivaxx loopers, public health officials here know that it is those originally from certain countries who are more reluctant than others. We can try as many micro level initiatives to get that up here but what we are confronted with is decades of mistrust built up elsewhere. I think we are all being very arrogant to think we can change other countries and societies, it’s the regime change complex of the 2020s.
I have not seen any data on that. All I know is that in the likes of France that it is allowed. France will not allow you get a second appointment if you have had Covid previously and they consider one dose as your booster. Your health pass (vaccine passport) is provided etc. Chise on Twitter posts all the positive vaccine data and keeps saying prior immunity plus one dose should be fine. Maybe something has changed in recent weeks that I haven’t seen, in fairness boosters has so the situation is always changing. I don’t think someone should be hammered for taking that approach previously.
Israeli study says natural immunity provides more protection than vaccination. However, it also says natural immunity plus vaccination is better than just natural immunity. https://www.science.org/content/art...er-immunity-vaccine-vaccination-remains-vital So yes it is not as safe.
Details here on France. They checked for antibodies pre vaccine and if you had them, they would only give you one dose. https://www.thelocal.fr/20210806/reader-question-ive-had-covid-19-and-one-jab-in-france-can-i-avoid-quarantine-in-uk/%3famp This is now a problem for people travelling as countries diverge - the new US rules would stop someone travelling there if they took that course but they didn’t have a choice. Their local health experts decided it!
While interesting data, it’s retrospective and could be confounded by several factors. Regardless, it’s incredible clear that previously infected individuals should be vaccinated with at least one dose of mRNA.
Didn’t Spliff just post something about the likelihood of reinfection after recovering from Covid and it’s detrimental impact on the immune system
So you thought if you had it you could never get it again? Look, I’m glad you’re finally vaxxed but why would you possibly think a) you could only get it once and b) that somehow getting sick was a better long-term solution than taking preventive measures?
I didn’t think I could never get it again. I actually have tested positive twice for it. No symptoms both times. Both times were prior to vax availability . I don’t have a reason. I’m not anti vax. I never went around touting natural immunity or anything. Fact is, I never discussed it at all. I just never got around to it and it wasn’t that important to me. So was I justified in my apathy? No. Was I wrong? Yes.
Well, glad you came to your senses before you were featured in the “fucked around and found out” thread.
Getting my Pfizer booster tomorrow. I got a J&J shot on April 9, and it kicked my ass the next day. Glad to be joining the Pfamily. Hope any side effects subside by Friday.
Who knows, I could be dead and not know it yet. Just because I was a symptomatic doesn’t mean there’s not been damage done. Honestly, I believe I never had a symptom because I have autoimmune diseases and have taken lots of immunosuppressive drugs like DMARDs. Without much of an immune response maybe symptoms weren’t visible.
Yeah you can’t really go around touring natural immunity if you’ve caught it twice. I mean, that’s two times.
Yeah, I was confused by this: "waited until I had to", implying that he had to wait or something, which he did not.
I got the first dose of moderna on day 11 after COVID. I was the sickest I have ever been with both shots. I am past due for a booster (got vaccinated in January) and am terrified.
