Turns out Colorado passed a Covid sick leave bill (80 Hours) and it was enacted January 1. Told my friend about it. She talked to HR. Turns out she gets paid leave without using pto. Her supervisor either didn’t know the new law or tried to fuck her over. I am a hero
That's the way I read it. I think it's good for 8 tests per person, per month. Although inventory issues may make it hard to take advantage
if you have private insurance, you show your insurance card and it's covered if you dont have insurance, you pay upfront then submit a receipt for reimbursement
I think I broke the fever last night. I’ve had to have my thermostat at around 78 the past 36 hours (about 10 degrees above what i prefer) because anything less and I’d shiver uncontrollably. But in the middle of the night last night I woke up cold sweating through my hoody/sweat pants. I’m not much of a sweater and usually sleep in just boxers, So it was a thrilling experience. when I woke up for real I didn’t have much of a fever anymore just the worst the sore throat has been, and a average size head ache. Tylenol alternated w ibuprofen helped a lot. Today was definitely my best day. Much less lethargic, and back to being able to temperature regulate a little better. Thermostat down a few degrees! Went to a mass testing site in my city an hour before they opened this evening. Took 25 minutes to find the back of the line of cars which was ~2 miles long. the nose has been super runny today and I’ve got a full on winter beard going. I was annoyed by the mustache/runny nose combo but was not ready to invest the effort into cutting everything off. So the mustache part is gone and I look Amish, which is a neat plot twist in all of this.
2 days with monoclonal antibody therapy and double vaxx. I also tested negative after 4 days with the vid. No idea why I passed it so quickly
Cincinnati Public Schools had over 800 employees report sick last week. The school board voted 6-1 last night to go remote until 1/24/22, assuming they have enough staff to return.
MA pumped millions into local businesses to make N95. Now they're not buying from them. Spoiler https://www.wgbh.org/news/local-new...t-making-masks-but-the-state-isnt-buying-them By Marilyn Schairer Paul Singer January 10, 2022 SHARE Email Facebook Tweet In May 2020, as Massachusetts was in furious competition with the rest of the world to obtain high-quality masks and other personal protective equipment to protect front-line workers from COVID-19, Gov. Charlie Baker announced millions of dollars in grants to local companies to create a “domestic” supply chain for this critical material. But as school districts across the state — and just about everybody else — have scrambled in recent weeks to procure high-quality masks to combat the surge of omicron cases, Massachusetts apparently has not bought any masks from the suppliers it paid about $7 million to build production lines for N95 masks. It can’t be like that going forward.” That same day, Baker announced a $2 million grant to Boyd Technologies in Lee, Mass., for “equipment for surgical and N95 production lines” and $1.2 million to ViruDefense in Burlington, Mass., to “expand surgical N95 manufacturing through purchase of new equipment.” But Boyd CEO Stephen Boyd told GBH News Monday, “The state is not currently buying any masks from Boyd Technology.”
Good thread. Zero Covid lunatic Yaneer is in the comments desperately trying to make out that Omi is the only driver in the US because that is the only country on earth where the data on hospitals is anyway concerning (but really not that bad when it is really looked at).
It Could Happen Here podcast had a good two parter this week talking to a Chicago public school teacher about the lockout there.
Still have not had covid and nobody in my house has had it to my knowledge. Feels like dodging bullets with as many covid positive people as we've been exposed to since spring of 2020. During the worst waves my wife has been exposed to covid positive people basically every single day for weeks at a time. We're basically invincible is what I'm saying.
It felt weirdly over the top when he basically said being a teacher fucking sucks and is an awful job. Pay, resources, etc aside I’ve never heard a teacher with gripes talk like that.
Oldest just tested positive on his shield test. I’m negative on a rapid, his little brothers shield was negative. Going in for a confirmatory test now
I was definitely exposed to prior variants but was either asymptomatic or never got it. Omicron is currently ravaging my work place. It’s a different animal.
We are debating pulling our kid out of daycare but we’d lose his spot. There’s no way the place stays open much longer. It’s running through everything here. Wife’s office is shutdown (one of the largest O&G companies in the world) and anyone who has to go into office for something has to wear an n95. I don’t think schools can close and go to remote because Abbott can only get his dead dick to twitch with the thought of children getting sick or dying.
Has anyone worn both the kf94 and the kn95? The 94s feel a little looser, but I'm not sure if that is expected due to earloops vs a headband, or if I need a smaller 94.
You might wanna try a smaller one. I've been wearing KN94 masks for almost a year now and the BOTN in large is my favorite. It has adjustable loops and a stiff nose wire so you can get a really good seal. I just got in the XL size BOTN to try out. The POSH brand from Be Healthy USA is really good but was too small for my face. The Blue brand is ok but the nose wire isn't as stuff as the others and I'm not a fan of the cloth like material on the inside. Reminded of a KN95 mask I had.
Our quite large healthcare org is out of all IV monoclonals, oral anti-covids, and testing supplies being pushed to brink, results coming back in 24-48 hours (last week I could run a pcr in my office and get results in ~hour). dire straights rn. I only have 2 Covid hospitalized patients atm, 1 is 47 and the other is 50, but unvaccinated morbidly obese dudes, the 50 year old is probably gonna die.
I have some of those black Botn large masks on the way. Big hopes that they’re good. I’ve read the 94’s are better for working out in. Fiancée is going to Orange Theory trying to do mid-afternoon classes to avoid people and wearing a surgical mask. Once these show up, gonna have her try to work out in one. How are we supposed to do rotation of re-uses for high quality masks again? Say she has five 94 masks, just use them in order meaning they’ll be at least five days apart from last use?
It's the evergreen cleanfit. The adjustable one was out of stock, so maybe the ear saver would tighten it up
YouTube man says he puts his back in the bag (open) and doesn't use it again until after 4 days. I think I'm going to keep mine by the door, grab one on the way out, and then put it at the back of the line when I'm done for the day.
You won't be disappointed. The first time I wore a KF94 after wearing only cloth masks was mind blowing. And yea the KF94 should be better for working out in as the mask is projected away from your nose and mouth. With the BOTN and POSH brands, the inside of the masks is a more smooth plastic feeling material which I like. The Blue brand had a more cloth feeling inside so it felt a bit warm. And I definitely need to do better with rotating my masks. I've mainly only used one up for up to 40 hours. And BOTN stands for Breath of the Nature. It's a brand of masks.
Yep. Give the mask about 4 days between uses. Paper bag is good b/c it lets the mask dry out (as opposed to a sealed plastic bag). Obv you'd prob want to use one each day. Just be careful not to touch the outside of the mask when you take it off and put it back on during the day. Wash hands after taking it off and putting it back on. That's probably it. Securing it behind the head will help. I want to try that one at some point.
I've used the Bluna Facefit and the adjustable ear loops have worked for me. Back when we were all using the DIY bandana masks (and others), I used rubber bands to tie it behind my head. Just find something to act as a clasp for the rubber bands. I've seen people say that they also like using lanyard with an adjustable bead to tighten it. I haven't tried that yet, but Amazon has some like this. There are also a lot of ear savers (link) and adjustable lanyards on Etsy. Somebody posted this in the Amazon reviews for a lanyard:
