Tried to do tele-health appt today but they stopped doing those this week except for covid+ people. So now Ihave to call in tomorrow morning since my tests I took did not get done until after they were closed today.

Just woke up from a ~30 minute sleep cover in sweat from head to toe. Showered and got out and not a chill one while getting dressed again. Think/hope fever already broke as just took temp and 98.6.

Literally a 2 hour fever window for me. What a ride.

I had a bout of bronchitis in 2016 with similar symptoms. Can’t rule out pneumonia as it was going around the office at the time. It was terrible.

My family is not sick or showing any symptoms.

Pretty sure this is sinus infection related brought on by a bad onslaught of allergies. Similar usually happens to me once a year; although not generally with the fever.

Update, let PCP office know I ran a fever/chills for 2 hours last night and they pivoted to tele-health in spite of now 3 at home negative tests. I will be riding that Tussionex Suspension, Prednisone, Lorabid train in about 30 minutes.

8 days in, finally feel like I'm starting to get better. Here's hoping it's true this time.

If this wasn't covid, there's some other serious bad news goin around. I've never been out of work or school for a week before

More than anything, slightly paranoid about the post-covid neuroimaging studies that have been coming out over the past year. Mom developed Alzheimers in her late 50s, I'd rather not try to beat her record

Most chiropractors are morons who grift money for a living, so they’ve earned their reputation. *some* predominantly east coast chiropractors who know when to recommend proper medical intervention don’t bother me one bit. It’s the ones that trick their prey into believing that only they can heal them and to distrust modern medicine that bother me. I’m personally affected with my cousin’s ex-husband being a west coast chiropractor who turned his kids in anti-vaxxers.

No one here has blind faith in anything. Blind faith is for religion, not medicine or anything else of this earth. I don’t use or need blind faith when I discuss virology. I have data, many years of study, and expertise.

The problem with chiropractors isn’t necessarily that they’re all grifters who think they have unlocked some secret to physical and mental well-being, it’s that people are more and more showing up to chiropractors rather than real doctors.

Six months ago, 17 year old football player has a big hit in a football game, loses consciousness, neck pain afterwards. Mom waits til Monday then takes him to a chiropractor because they’re who fixes neck and back pain now right. Chiropractor starts manipulating spine, but kid is having a ton of pain. Luckily chiropractor decided to stop and get radiographs (they have their own machine in their office), it gets read 3 hours later. Kid has unstable fractures of two cervical vertebrae from lowering the crown of his helmet. Had to track down kid and mom, they’re in the car just driving around, no neck collar. Could have paralyzed or killed the kid.

They should never see patients in the post-trauma setting unless previously worked up imo

It pretty well reflects the basic lack of common sense in our society. Present to a physician to discuss management of a chronic disease, and you'll be told the answer is complicated and the available tools imperfect, but ultimately should be able to create a careplan that improves health and functionality.

Go to a chiropractor they'll tell you all you need is adjustment or ten and you're cured.

Too many people will believe the latter, and it's no coincidence that this whole country's progress is shackled by adult children with magical thinking

I’m experiencing the Paxlovid bounce back. Finished dosing on Tuesday. Yesterday was negative finally. This afternoon, strongly positive again. Only symptoms are mucus / congestion.

Woke up feeling lethargic and stopped up. Popped out one of my Biden-tests and within a minute the thing came back positive.

I am boosted and running a low fever. Any other suggestions other than getting some fluids and rest?

n=1, but paxlovid may not have been a good idea for me given my risk was fairly low already and now i've had a bounce back. you'll have to decide for yourself.

Wife and I had dinner at Lawry's The Prime Rib last night for her niece's birthday. First time dining in since it all started. We wore our masks until we sat at our table. It was a bit unnerving and the restaurant was packed, of course. Admittedly, it all felt very normal after about 10 minutes. Guess we'll see how it goes.

We went to the zoo with our friends this Saturday and ate indoors afterwards and it still felt awkward. They all had it bad at the end of March. Both kids (4 and 8 months) had to be put on breathing treatments and my buddy said he had a resting heart rate of like 185 for almost 2 weeks. He’s vaccinated but not boosted and hates himself for not getting it because he got wrecked by it. Wife was fine tho. It was their first time out since being sick and they said it was pretty scary because of what can happen.

My resting heartrate was a little high the day after I tested positive last month (was boosted back in late Oct) but it seemed to resolve only after 24 hours. ymmv but if you're not in bad shape, immunocompromised, or elderly then I think just riding it out as long as you're boosted seems fine in my non-expert opinion.

I’ve mentioned my mom is immunocompromised and had some issues w/ her Covid bout.

Her Dr recently recommended MAbs rather than another booster, saying it would provide the same benefits.

Is that correct or an actual thing?

Any insight into why someone wouldn't want to take Paxlovid? Are there side effects or other impacts? I am a moderate risk but boosted back in the fall.

There is a long acting mAb one can get, yes. Not a one time thing, will need to keep getting it but an option for immunocompromised people who may not respond to vaccination. I don’t see the downside in getting a booster and then empirically testing her respond to it, but that doc may not feel like going through the trouble

Bad taste in my mouth for 6 days Diarrhea were my side effects. Maybe if I let it ride out I’d be negative now and not worried about it. That said, Paxlovid may reduce my long COVID risks. Who knows, not studied well enough yet.
