Something that I’ve thought about in regards to how this will affect the economy moving ahead is now we basically have an extra illness circulating in addition to the flu, etc, that will cause hundreds of thousands of people every year in the US to miss work, which will undoubtedly have an impact on the economy. Assuming the September updated vaccine provides better protection against the newer variants, you will have around half of the country that refuses to get the vaccine because of made up health concerns (and also to own the libs), when the irony is that that same group of people argued for putting themselves and other people’s health at risk during the height of the pandemic to save the economy. It makes my head hurt.
there will never be another mask mandate of any meaningful measure (much less a shutdown of any sort) for covid. not even in the big cities. the ones on the right who are still fighting that battle are the dumbest of the dumb
I live in the deep south and am surrounded by these people. I continually have heard over the last week "the CDC admitted masks don't work at all!" Where is that coming from? I assume some random Joe Rogan or Ben Shapiro clip?
Roughly? Its a deliberately obtuse reading, and effectively misreading, of particular statements (and ultimately some bad choices in marketing by CDC people in a bunch of cases, like the differential minute-exposure graphic that the researcher took back later since it made no sense). That said, if you ask them for quotes from the CDC, they wont be able to find them, because they never said it. Instead, they treat their fave RW idealogues' red meat misinterpretations as truth. Stuff like "surgical masks catch droplets but arent dependable long term, more quality masks are appropriate for high exposure settings" is filtered through chud marketers to say "masks dont work," which is punchy and effective for people that are barely literate
Girl I know put on her social media story night before last that her husband was positive and numbers were going up. Story yesterday was her at work (she’s a nurse) and a selfie with a caption about the other nurses mad she was there if her husband had it. Update last night was her positive test.
It's also back-to-school here in Florida, so there's just general crud going around on top of covid. It's admittedly hard to distinguish without buying a giant box of tests to keep on the ready.
I’ve had a few non chud, fully boosted friends say they’re done with future boosters as of now. I’ll be interested to see what numbers look like.
Don’t understand this. I get the flu shot every year so if they got a new booster for Covid I’m getting that too.
I’m sure it’s a lot of things. Guessing because Covid is more prevalent and transmissible so breakthrough cases may impact their POV or, speaking from my experiences, the vaccine making me feel awful for a day or two. Hopefully enough people end up getting it to make a difference.
I think its just the social pressure of "being done" with thinking about covid in general, in a "well i didnt die from it" sense
Shockingly all of this is coming from America's #1 news source Alex Jones thanks to a "high level TSA source"
Well, first time I've actually tested positive. I'm sure I've had it before but never actually popped positive. Fatigue and congestion. Just generally feeling awful
If you use KF94s, make sure to to air them out for 30 mins before donning, as some manufacturers packaging is shitty https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37079939
I have gotten every COVID vaccine and each one has made me debilitatingly sick. It was way worse than the three times I have had COVID.the flu shot doesn’t do anything to me besides give me a slightly sore arm. I’ll probably end up getting it for all the typical reasons. but I’m on the fence.
could be. Got COVID for the first time in December of 2020 and then got the first shot 2-weeks later. In retrospect probably wasn’t the best move. I’ll probably end up still getting it, but just brought it up as an example of why someone may choose not to it.
Figure my days of being a Novid are numbered if I don't go back to diligent mask wearing and avoiding gatherings. Honestly, I don't really want to but I guess that's the price to pay to avoid it.
Assume you’re vaccinated and boosted. Is there some type of underlying condition or are you just trying to avoid it altogether?
Yep, we're up to date and will get the new one that's coming. Wife was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 (doing great now) and I was caring for my late father from 20-22. We were highly motivated to avoid it. Not so much now.
How is the accuracy of at home tests currently? Our household all has some crud for the past week since school started back. We keep testing negative but the tests are at least a year old.
I tested negative too when I felt symptomatic, although I think the test I had was maybe six months-ish old. Felt similar to lomcevak with congestion (like coughing up phlegm for a few mornings) and a mild headache, but nothing real bad and never ran a fever. It's not as easy to get a quick PCR test since I moved so I just chalked it up to being possibly ill with something else.
I feel like I'm on the upswing. Wasn't too bad, I've certainly had worse. Congestion, headaches, and fatigue were the main symptoms. Hopefully that'll be it... Looking forward to getting back on the bike and going for runs again Get that booster too. Although I might delay it given the timing and all
I was looking at reviews for solar generators on youtube and was informed that there's another lock down coming and this time it will be MANDATORY!!!!111! please confirm.
Once I tested positive Biden’s goons came and locked me down in my bed and…I’ll just leave it at that.
Are you my brother? I made the mistake of telling my mom I got COVID. Oh boy she has inundated me with all sorts of conspiracy bs. Ugh
Ok guess I don’t have COVID but man I feel so tired the past couple of days. Guess it’s unnamed virus
