I know everyone says it's not bad for kids but I'm terrified of the long-term effects. who knows if my kids have had it already, but they're all likely a long way from being able to be vaccinated and in daycare. it keeps me up at night thinking I'm doing something that is going to have a negative effect on their lives long-term.
Yeah the long term effects are ?????? I'd like for them not to have to deal with whatever they may or may not be
MIS-C seems to be a relatively small but serious near-term concern and my oldest has environmental induced asthma. Plus we don't even know anything about the long term impact of it. Not a fan.
My cousin passed away last week (not covid related) and the funeral was Saturday. My 3 year old daughter woke up Saturday morning with a cough and 102 degree fever. Was super conflicted with what to do and ended up deciding not to go, just didn't feel comfortable. Really pissed off a lot of my family but I'm comfortable with the decision I made. Got an email last night that a kid in my daughters class tested positive for Covid. We are now on a 2 week quarantine. She's totally fine, got tested this morning but no results yet and I think these are probably just coincidences (at least I did cause the timing seemed too quick but reading a few posts back I guess some people are showing symptoms super fast with Delta) but it does make me feel validated in my decision.
Living in Mississippi I’m seeing more and more people asking for prayers that their loved one may die from Covid. I look at their Facebook pages before and they just spew nonsense bullshit about the government conspiracy theories on vaccines. It pisses me off that people can get so mind warped.
Conversely I’m concerned about the long term health affects of Covid-19 infection. Many long term effects of influenza have been documented. Will Covid-19’s be less or be more? The uncertainty is unsettling to me.
Man how nice of pfizer and moderna to share the outcome results of that clinical trial with Matt Walsh. Can't wait till the rest of us learn the side effects of those vaccines on kids. Anyway, lets see what long covid could do
That could be it too. I think most public schools use those kinds of clocks but its hard to say for sure.
Number 2 person I know not vaccinated is getting it now. Mother of my kid's best friends whom wasn't getting it along with her husband. We told my kid he's not allowed to play in their house anymore for that reason. He of course tells his friend at camp that he's not allowed to play. My wife calls his mom. The mom said actually I know we haven't seen yall in a few weeks but I got the Delta one three weeks ago and was asymptomatic. Only reason I got tested was because my friend was sick and tested positive and I was with her a lot. She said "it made me realize it's not about me and whether I get sick it's about whether I pass it to other people who might get really sick so as soon as I can do it I'm getting the vaccine." I want to rage at her considering this is what we've been saying for a fucking year but glad that's another one getting the vaccine.
People are so fucking dense, but better late than absolutely never if we want to get out of this. It really takes people getting sick or seeing someone close to them die for them to get it and it's absolutely infuriating.
It finally looks like here in Georgia, for instance, a lot of people are waking up and getting their first doses in the past couple of weeks.
Long Covid is some shit. My wife lost her sense of smell back when we got Covid last year. When her smell returned everything started smelling like exhaust to her. It's been 11 months since she had it. My youngest turns 12 in March. Really hoping he can get vaccinated before his birthday.
Late to the party but I got my second Moderna shot back in April and I'd take a booster right now if I could.
If you’ve had prior Covid and then get vaccinated you are even better protected than those that haven’t had prior Covid and get vaccinated.
I haven’t worked at the hospital for awhile and I know numbers went up in Nebraska the last 2 weeks. I’m there for the next 3 days, and I just have a feeling they’ll send me to the covid unit. It’s not like the first time where you get a couple nice patients and a shithead and a really old person. This time around it’s all middle-aged shitheads that worship Trump and Tucker.
This sounds a lot like what I had last weekend. Woke up overnight Sat nite with a fever, headache, and diarrhea. Throat was really raw too. Stayed home from work Monday and Tuesday as I was awaiting test results, and surprised me when it came back negative. I was in Mexico a week before I experienced symptoms, so the GI aspect I now believe is related to that. But it was so unlike any illness I had ever had, and seemed to match up perfectly with what I read about symptoms of COVID among vaccinated. Never lost taste or smell tho.
Haha his character voice is Chris Farley from tommy boy. There is def a certain added appreciation when an athlete, military person, etc is not a chud.
So there's a chance a bunch of deep south antivax Trumpists lose even more cognitive ability? This will accelerate the timeline of Idiocracy.
4 year old is no longer running a fever and seems completely normal. Hope like hell this is all she'll have to deal with and nothing long lasting in terms of neurological or other problems.
Back to work in the office and the only rule is unvaccinated need to wear masks. Not a fan. So far at half capacity only one person is wearing a mask. We’ll see how it progresses as more people come in. So stupid to be back.
We go back next week, have to be there 3x a week minimum. A couple of us have been back on a voluntary basis. Dude who sits next to me is going to Vegas on Friday (he’s at least vaccinated) but hoping he doesn’t bring Delta back.
if it makes you guys feel any better, I've been back in the office part-time since last August, full-time since January. masks for vaccinated people were stopped in June. so far, no issues I'm aware of.
We have a meeting today for training on how to use Teams for our phone system and it looks like we are staying at work from home for good. I’ve only been to the office once to pick up my computer when I got hired last year but it’s a small office and no way to distance and if someone had it it’s gonna spread like wildfire. I don’t understand the push to return to offices for certain jobs. Companies have to be saving a ton of money on overhead alone with people not being physically in the office using company supplied electricity, water, coffee, everything basically.
My work has been trying to kill me for over a year now. We've had random outbreaks in departments that then had to wfh for 2 weeks. I'm sure people have died through the chain of transmission linked to my work but we have to be in the office for uh reasons
My company has suddenly decided to put everyone back in office for no good reason. Barely anyone is using the vaccine reporting system but they’re moving forward anyways. I have zero idea why especially since I probably won’t be sitting near any of my coworkers on my team. So why the fuck am I being forced to go in? These old ass executives for these companies are such pieces of shit
I mean I get the nature of the relationship with your job but I didn't expect them to so blatantly tell people that they didn't care if they died
