It’s too late, we’re getting steady deliveries and have been vaccinating more than anyone in the world for about a month now. Country with most people with at least one dose, and we’ve started to see days with more second doses than first doses this week. I believe 75% the country should be double dosed by the end of August.
lol meanwhile United States of knuckle draggers won’t reach 70% until mid October. 85% by February 2022.
I think an interesting idea I came up with this morning on my walk, would be to have health insurers treat mom vaccinated individuals like smokers. I would offer a considerable premium addition for those who are unwilling to offer documented proof of vaccination. Considering unvaccinated individuals will more than likely be at risk for higher medical costs, give people the ability to get vaccinated and enjoy a lower monthly premium than those who refuse to get it.
This way the government stays out of mandating any vaccine efforts but private business (insurers) reward those who make good decisions. If you don’t want it, fine, simply pay the increased costs your infection may create for health care workers.
Going to pass on encouraging private insurance to jack up premiums
Nationally I think right now we are slightly over 70% one dose and 9% second dose. Nice to see vaccines ramping up and hopefully things start opening up even more soon. Herd immunity is 75% ish and we should be between 80% and 90% when it’s all said and done.
How confident are you in travelling to USA? Most people I’ve talked to have no interest in visiting until more vaccines are administered there and variants are better known/controlled.
I think that’s 12+ pop., but yeah. I wouldn’t feel particularly scared. Clubs would be a no-go, obviously, but I’m sure visiting a restaurant in NYC is pretty safe. You just got to act the way you’d do here.
on anti-vaxxers? fuck them
Lol as a country we will never reach 70%
Nearly 200 staff members at a Houston-area hospital were suspended for not following a policy that requires employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Their suspensions followed a protest by dozens of workers Monday night against the policy.
The hospital, Houston Methodist, had told employees that they had to be vaccinated by Monday or face suspension. Last month, 117 Houston Methodist employees filed a lawsuit against their employer over the vaccine policy.
Jennifer Bridges, a nurse who led the Houston Methodist protest, has cited the lack of full FDA approval for the shots as a reason she won’t get vaccinated.
By Monday evening, dozens of Houston Methodist employees had gathered outside the hospital system’s location in Baytown, Texas, holding signs that read “Vaxx is Venom” and “Don’t Lose Sight of Our Rights.”
“If we don’t stop this now and do some kind of change, everybody’s just going to topple,” Bridges told local news media covering the protest. “It’s going to create a domino effect. Everybody across the nation is going to be forced to get things into their body that they don’t want and that’s not right.”
Those who did not meet the hospital’s vaccination deadline Monday were placed on a two-week unpaid suspension. If they still do not meet the hospital's vaccine requirements by June 21, Houston Methodist will “initiate the employee termination process.”
The workers’ lawsuit accuses the hospital of “forcing its employees to be human ‘guinea pigs’ as a condition for continued employment.”
stop talking down to us, you’ll spend your money in Vegas and like it !
FIL got his 2nd dose this week. MIL getting hers next week.
I’m personnally very much jealous of what’s happening your side of the border. We’re seeing less cases than the US per capita, yet restrictions are still up as if it’s WW2. Still can’t invite 2 friends at home right now in Montreal. We had 66 cases today, and a province wide positivity rate of 0.8%. Just feels like there’s a middle ground between the doomer paradise up north and whatever I’m guessing is been done in Texas.
I've been in Nashville all week. Masks are completely gone pretty much. it was quite the shock coming from LA but I still wear mine inside places.
We want to do boys trip to Nashville. Probably a cesspool of variants at this point.
Montreal outlawing threesomes? That place has really gone downhill.
You have to do it outside in a parc.
Can I Spliff it sounds like this is where you should be vacationing
I think Tennessee is ~#4 in cases/100k and is now T6 w Arkansas for the worst in vaccinations.
Just got back from Arkansas and I was the only person anywhere with a mask on. My brother was in Nashville all last week and said it’s just a free for all in terms of no one wearing masks
Semi-public sex sounds like trouble, i do say
Yeah they ain’t doing any of that in Arkansas. I went to the gym and I was the only person in the entire place wearing a mask and caught a ton of shitty looks. Same for pretty much anywhere I went where I’d normally wear a mask inside.
