maintenance guy at work is 75 with a wife who works in a nursing home. today the maintenance supervisor told the entire crew that he was “out for 14 days” and wouldn’t say why as if no one would have any questions eventually admitted that he tested negative yesterday but no word on his wife or any future tests myself and my manager are the only two in a plant of 100+ that wear masks some of the maintenance guys were getting mad at the idea of this one dude infecting them as they continue to just hang out in close quarters with no masks or anything

What type of plant is this? Is it one where people are required to wear some form of PPE? Only reason I ask, is because I work for a "plant" based company with a series of terminals across a region as well....and everyone already was required to wear PPE so adding the mask requirement for everyone working there and the hundreds of truck driving customers that come through daily has not been an issue at all. I'd guess the majority of them are people that think masks are stupid as well....but what's one more PPE requirement?

Random thought here but it really pisses me off that anyone in a commercial lease has stopped paying because they can get away with it using coronavirus as an excuse while anyone in a residential lease is likely to get fucked
In my state, the state froze residential foreclosures but left commercial leases alone. The courts are more or less closed anyway, but small business leaseholders are getting hammered. Would be nice to see some rent stimulus to go along with the freezes, and the inclusion of local commercial holders into the residential provisions.

What?? mental illness is taking a hit because of all of this. Because this guy is backing off his claims, which we had no real reason not to believe, unless you somehow knew him and knew he was lying or over-blowing things, does not negate the many other ways these lock-downs and this response is having a negative impact. cancer screenings are down, people are not going to the hospital or the doctor for issues, domestic violence and divorce will rise, kids' education suffered, lack of physical activity due to cancelling of sport and closing gyms, etc etc etc. Now before you take the absolute most extreme version of what I just said, this does NOT mean "fuck it open everything right fucking now!". It simply means all of this should be part of the discussion.

I don't classify everything into right or left wing. I was looking at information. Because part of the information was wrong does not negate all of the information or the larger point. There are health and wellness issues caused specifically by our response to the pandemic that should be a part of the discussion as to what our next steps and future response should be.
