around you where? Bars and restaurants around here have no mask usage or poor mask usage. I live in an apartment with university of Tampa students since I’m right next to the school and they only put on a mask to get into an Uber. They follow the rules. Unfortunately the rules tell them to wear masks in Uber’s and in Publix only. Luckily for us, the weather has been great and a lot of places in Florida are built to have people outside. Mask usage in the state as a whole is pretty bad though.
Wisconsin putting up some pretty bad numbers on a Tuesday. 7,000 positive cases and 92 deaths. From what I can see their old record death day was 66.
cooper said no further restrictions. said our cases are increasing but not surging classified counties by red (critical spread), orange (substantial spread) and yellow (significant spread) all the main population centers are yellow which is good. hospital resources are strong in 99/100 counties i of course live in the hellscape of a red county.
This is encouraging if true. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/17/health/coronavirus-immunity.html?action=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage guess you have to sign in to read but it says new study shows immunity may last years. Some survivors of SARS caused by another coronavirus still carry certain important immune cells 17 years later.
Had two coworkers lose parents to the virus in the last 48 hours. For one, her father went into the hospital on Thursday and passed away last night. Fuck this virus
when this is all over, there will be an animated graphic of the country that shows all the spread and how it goes from region to region cant wait til 2024
We all know everyone there will be tested beforehand and wear masks and social distance. It’ll be fine
Mine took less than 5 minutes but my fiancee’s took almost 2 hours. Seems like it depends on which location you go to
There is a lot of truth in that comment, but it also really bothers me when someone tries to point to what has happened in China without a clear acknowledgement of the authoritarian/surveillance state part of the story.
The people who wrote those articles need to come study my two kids' schools. My youngest started showing symptoms a few days after being exposed to two classmates that tested positive. My middle child currently has a couple friends that caught it in the same class.
There were 183 total flu-related deaths in all of 2019 in Wisconsin We just had 92 COVID-19 deaths in one day Worse than the flu though
Half the country isn’t upset. They’re ignoring it and still doubt it. The world is truly all fucked up.
Can someone explain to me the incessant fascination with blaming the media for “fear mongering” and “shut downs”. I am seeing very liberal, PhD educated individuals say that somehow the media perpetuates lack of evidence based approaches leading to school shutdowns and not bar/restaurant shut downs. Really, help me understand why people like to blame the media for stuff. There’s and old Chris Rock joke in here somewhere... The lack of personal accountability and blaming the media has to fucking stop.
There is just something I am feeling that I can’t quite find the words for. I also don’t understand why lots of people go around saying how everyone is afraid or scared. Is that true? Are any of you actual scared / afraid? It seems to me that’s another made up boogeyman to shit on people who have empathy and want to do what’s right.
I can’t believe we are still hear. This is dumbfounding. How (not saying you do) does anyone think this is true. JFC we are by far the dumbest developed nation in the world.
