Yeah, short of worst Korea, China is about the worst possible place for this to happen. We’ll likely never get the trust about its spread.
I'm actually sick and back in the U.S. (pretty sure I got a bug in Vietnam or Singapore...long flights aren't good for health). This was actually reported quite early in China, for the record. The numbers are no doubt being minimized, but the seriousness with which it is being handled is likely appropriate. Public health concerns are a pretty big deal with the near-term history in the region. Hong Kong was already on high alert before the Western world started hearing about it.
i would think north korea would be a great place for an outbreak considering the limited travel that occurs within and into/out of the country
yean but dear leader would have no problem just burning the entire city or region that there's been sickness once they caught on
Am I naive for theorizing that these coronaviruses aren’t actually that easily spread from human-to-human, which is why they always seem to occur in and be mostly limited to densely populated areas?
I’ll reiterate that it may be a naive question, but between SARS, SADS, MERS, Zika, Ebola, none really spread the globe on a large scale.
Friend sent me a video today of a Hong Kong flight where people in white suits are thermo screening all the passengers. Also, in 3 days starts the largest movement of people ever recorded with the lunar new year festivals. This is not good timing. I’m going to Xian in 3 weeks for a month. Been nice knowing you guys.
Yeah, the timing is about as awful as can be. Markets frequented more, people moving everywhere. Not great, Bob. Jelly you'll be in Xi'an for a month. One of my favorite places I've been in China so far.
I just got back from dinner at the dirtiest, sketchiest fish market I've ever been to. The food was incredible but I definitely walked out infected with something.
Zika and Ebola aren't coronavirus. Coronavirus can spread via respiratory secretions making them highly contagious. These viruses wi continue to mutate which will make it easier to transmit. Just think how easy it is to get a cold from someone. That is most likely a coronavirus. This isn't even it's final form.
