they were supposed to have a two week orientation for virtual but they are scrapping even that because there arent enough teachers or bus drivers to even do 2 weeks district is the second largest in the state and includes charlotte Jake Scott
Children don't get it, right? So let's flip the script for this election and have the max voting age be 17 years and 363 days.
Arizona, Florida and Mississippi on Thursday reported record-high new deaths in one day, according to data tracked by The Washington Post, as deaths nationwide spike after a surge of cases that appears to have peaked. Florida reported close to 10,000 new cases and 252 deaths, a tally 176 percent higher than the average daily deaths over the past week. Florida’s average daily death tally has risen to record heights for several days in a row, while another hot spot state, Texas, has seen its average break records for weeks on end. Mississippi added 48 deaths and 1,775 cases, also a single-day record. Over the past week, Mississippi has been second only to Florida in new cases per capita and — along with Texas and South Carolina — lags just behind Arizona in deaths per capita. Arizona added 172 deaths Thursday, a significant jump from its previous high of 147 single-day deaths announced July 18, though health officials have noted recent improvement in other measures of the state’s coronavirus situation.
San Francisco hospitalizations, which reached a new peak today at 107, will likely reach an average 750 per day by October resulting in 600 deaths by the end of the year, Public Health Director Dr. Grant Colfax announced in a press conference Thursday. Dr. Colfax added that, in a “plausible worst case scenario,” the city could reach as many as 2400 hospitalizations and 1800 deaths. Dr. Colfax noted the exponential rise in new infections and hospitalizations in recent weeks. “Let me be clear: we are in a major surge of COVID-19. The virus is moving fast,” Dr. Colfax said
1,772 new IL cases announced today. The most new daily cases since May 24th. And 14/16 days with 1,000+ daily new cases. Not good. Not good at all.
a week ago today I stopped at a dispensary in Anna, IL and was blown away by the complete lack of masks on display in that small town. Then I remembered Illinois is basically Evanston/Chicago and the rest of it might as well be the south. Wouldn't go back to that dispensary fwiw, way too expensive. Your state weed tax is way too high
Good. There's no reason to go back into school at this time. These school districts are so shitty. You've had months to come up with a comprehensive virtual schooling gameplan. My wife still talks to a lot of her teacher friends from Nashville, Jacksonville, Raleigh and now here near Charlotte(next door neighbor is also a kindergarten teacher, which is wild) -- so many have just quit, found a different job, etc.
from that NYT piece on NJ cases creeping back up: The head of the State Police said the parties may be linked to the continued shutdown of indoor bars and restaurant dining, spawning what he called an “underground situation.” In perhaps the most glaring example of this apparent thirst for summertime revelry, a house party in Jackson, N.J., about 65 miles south of Manhattan, drew more than 700 people on Sunday night, leading the police to issue tickets to the three organizers. More than 100 cars were parked outside, and it took the police more than five hours to clear the scene.
I understand that for many it's a matter of work or get evicted, and teachers are not paid well enough to have emergency funds to support them for many months... but I just don't see how there will be enough teachers to overcome retirements, those that quit, and those that die. And if those vacancies can't be filled, classes will have to get more crowded as the teacher to student ratio becomes worse than it already was pre-covid. Crowding students indoors should only exacerbate the situation.
There aren't going to be. You're correct. People are going to die, a lot of them, if kids go back to school right now. So the teachers that didn't quit will get sick. Have you seen young children wear a mask? They're constantly touching it and their face. It's going to be really really bad IMO. Everyone should have been gearing up for virtual learning and used the failure that was last winter/spring as an opportunity to grow.
ive been talking with some of my friends that are teachers and administrators about this. Most subs are high risk anyway and who is going to go into a covid classroom for 14 days for $100 a day
So fair to say that $100 a day shit ain't flying. Your kids are not going to get an education at all this year.
It was just one lady who had twin sons a year older than me so she’d substitute in whatever building they were in. Her husband Jeff Longwell was on the district BoE and eventually became the mayor of Wichita (just was voted out a year or two ago under some corruption allegations). She was a cunt.
I thought the same thing, realized that he had basically the same amount of experience in politics as the actual president, then realized that at the very least the will of people had chosen the orange moron and not him. JFC
You prob remember this, but I always think of the story about the shadow task force. Kush apparently hired a bunch of 20 somethings fresh out of college to handle the logistics of getting ppe/test supplies evenly distributed across the country.
as most saw in here, I tested positive in early July. Back to normal now and I’ve also noticed my energy has skyrocketed. Makes me wonder how long I had the damn virus for.
Glad you made it through ok. I have heard/read several people recall once they got passed COVID they felt more energy than they ever have before. I don't know if it's more of a psychological thing or what. Just thought it was interesting.
Yeah, I’m not sure what happened. I’m not sure when I got it. A few different days of fatigue. I’m basically just done with analyzing it all. Getting (and being ok) it is an honest relief for the time being. Let me tell you though, it is rather interesting to drop the “I tested positive” when people are stating their opinions about COVID to me. Their eyes widen. I’ve became the one guy for their “i only know one guy that got it” comment. And as i always tell them, you don’t know people because people aren’t getting tested.
No, I got sick (fever, loss smell). After you test positive you get to be shamed by everyone you know, so that’s cool.
Hired this guy who wsa What kind of asshole shames people for getting a damn virus. Its not like you were sucking dicks for meth money under a bridge to get it. You didn't do that right?
It’s Florida, you get shamed for caring. You should have seen the boys at the meth lab, would barely look at me.
The mask wearing and hand sanitizer gave you the virus. If you walked around licking windows you would have never caught it.
More of a magic trick.... Prior to this my lungs were strong/normal and now despite never smoking a day in my life, my lungs are permanently damaged.
