Don't really care for Leonard Cohen's goofy voice. Jeff Buckley did it better:
Buckley is my favorite artist of all time, but Cohen's > Buckley's.
Me singing Garth Brook's "Much Too Young".
Meh, just not for me. I mean it an amazingly written song, just not a fan of Cohen's delivery.
not sure if better than the sonics but still one of my favorites
Perfect song for them to cover. I like it slowed down a little. My vote goes to the Keys on that one.
Any Jerry Garcia/Grateful Dead cover of a Bob Dylan.
great post. great song
There is no way that you actually believe this. Cohen's saving grace is his lyrical genius, but he is an absolutely atrocious performer.
Here's one from high school. Technically this isn't a cover because Gary Numan sings on it, but I still like it better than the original.
I also love Jeff Buckley.
Unfortunately, he was not much of a swimmer.
Gary Jules' "mad world" is so much better than Tears for Fears' is
Very much so.
He was more of a drowner. Real sink or swim type of guy.
this. also i'm partial to this version as well, tho not over Hendrix.
Anything Pearl Jam covers of The Who is usually pretty solid as well. I guess not better than the original, but sure as hell better than that Fred Durst shit.
This is a statement of fact.
This isn't better then the original but still great
Didn't even really like the original, but this version made me enjoy it:
hahaha everything about that is awesome.
Covering the Beatles is like putting ketchup on a steak at Ruth's Chris
Yeah, yeah I know it's sacrilegious. But not really being a huge Beatles fan in the first place, it works for me.
both versions suck, shitty song is shitty
Your face is shitty.
I genuinely hate dave matthews but I like Warren Haynes and the setting of this cover puts it over the top...then again I'm not a huge Neil Young fan to begin with
I guess this last one isnt technically a cover but its a lot better than the original
This is big for me because I fucking love The Pixies:
Its not better than the original version... sorry.
Nice fucking additions, Rod. I love Saul and Trent's version of SBS as well as Taylor singing Have a Cigar. Good shit.
cash/reznor is like the end-all of cover song arguments. both are ridiculously good but I do side with cash on this one.
also I love this one. although I love Bowie's as well, its really 50/50 for me.
I feel like everyone just loves the Cash version of Hurt because it's Johnny Cash. There isn't one thing better about the Cash version, and when you ask anyone that question, all they can come up with is "It's Johnny Cash"
