    Regarding Pregnancy

    https://journals.lww.com/greenjourn..._Maternal_and_Perinatal_Mortality_and.14.aspx

    n= ~500 positive women

Incidence of maternal intensive care unit admission was 3.0%, frequency of critical disease diagnosis (defined as respiratory failure, septic shock, and multiorgan dysfunction or failure) was 1.4%, and no deaths were reported. The preterm birth (PTB) rate was 20.1% among SARS-CoV-2 patients (compared with 10%–11% worldwide) and the cesarean delivery rate was 84.7% (nearly 3 times the baseline rate in the 3 included countries). Vertical transmission occurred in none of the deliveries and neonatal death in 0.3%.

Wife and had emails this morning say our results were ready. Did not expect them that fast. Both of us were negative. Im still not sure they went deep enough but unless either of us start showing symptoms I think we are good for now.

Any of y'all know anything about Path Group or Luminate Health? Guess that's the lab that did the test.

I will say, I'm not sure if this is all standard legal speak or i should be worried about the accuracy of their tests lol.

It’s probably a fine test. But if you have symptoms consistent with Covid, then retesting may be warranted in a few days. Discuss with your physician.

How long are asymptomatic people contagious for? I have a friend who’s tested positive, negative and then positive again over the past two to three weeks. The two positives came from rapid tests and the negative was from a test that took a few days to get results back.

Yes it did. Combined with new np viral load data, saying kids couldn’t transmit or transmitted poorly was a pipe dream. We closed schools. Giant confounder.

Rapid is not the gold standard test. That said, 10 days from positive test is sufficient

I first tested positive for antibodies about a month ago, and tbh I still don't feel 100%. It's hard to say what are normal allergies, it is 100 degrees outside, anxiety from living in a global pandemic or lingering COVID.

I'm still just amazed that we're planning on starting school NEXT WEEK down here. South Louisiana is a hotspot, the hospitals are full (or near full), and the principal's 19-year-old nephew DIED Friday.

I'd be shocked if schools opened up here in Illinois in 3 weeks. IDPH is saying we don't have the testing capacity needed to keep them open which is super frustrating 6 months into this.

What in the fuck is this opinion and how can you be a professor at Hopkins and have these opinions

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/stevensalzberg/2020/08/02/start-vaccinating-now/amp/

just an all time awful take.
    1. must make sure vaccine is effective before we just hand it out
    2. Must make sure it is safe
    3. Must see how long it provides immunity to prevent reckless behavior that jeopardizes other people
    4. Go enroll in clinical vaccine trial, you goon
    5. Don’t give anti-vaxxers anymore ammo (but fuck their opinion regardless).

Agreed but I do think we should probably start mass production of multiple vaccine candidates now

Pretty sure that's already happening and if not it will be very soon. It's what we've talked about a bunch with Gates foundation pledging a bunch of money (along with other companies and people) to start manufacturing the vaccines that are in current Phase III trials way ahead of time regardless of their results.

Right but I haven't seen where the US specifically has started mass producing any vaccines.

The only one I know of is India with the oxford vaccine.

Yeah I'm not sure on the specific timeline yet. I will say that this is one thing I think I'm correctly optimistic about, that we'll start hugely scaling up manufacturing soon of some of these vaccines, I'm much less optimistic how quickly we all can go to the doctor to get one given how much distribution will be quickly needed.

The last thing we need is to roll out a vaccine that isn’t safe and have the anti-vaxxer movement gain more followers.

At the Savannah civic center now to get tested. 2 hour wait. Woke up this morning with @ 100.4 temp. Has gone down sense but I still have a cough, runny nose, etc. Normal cold symptoms but we've had a handful of people at work test positive (no one I work directly with).

Screw you, really was hoping I could get on a trial. :)

Ask how long it is before they tell you if you got a placebo or not, I'm curious if they even reveal that information at the end (I'm guessing they have to).

Did you submit for a specific trial? I just filled out the form I posted before here and they'll contact you if you get picked for a trial.

    https://www.coronaviruspreventionnetwork.org/

Obviously they can't take everyone so I'm mostly joking, they probably also want people who are more likely to be exposed in their day-to-day life so that they can get results quicker than someone who was already working from home permanently like me.

Me and the wife are going to visit her family this weekend. We've both been fairly isolated and just got tested (I know, it could be a false negative, but neither of us are showing any symptoms and never have really).
Anyways, she wants to go to the st louis zoo on Friday. She looked online and said they are limiting the number of people allowed in at a time, you have to reserve a time to attend, masks are required and any inside exhibits require a separate ticket and time reservation. We've been before and are good not doing any inside exhibits. So walking around only the outside exhibits, with masks and sanitizer, stayong 6 feet or more from anyone else, etc should be fairly safe right?

That's what i was thinking but wanted to get some other opinions. I told her if we did that, as soon as we got back to the family's house we would go in through the back door into the basement and change clothes and take showers as well.
