I know a few folks that cancelled their weddings, instead did a very small ceremony (like immediate family only, less than 20 folks and only the ceremony/vows) and courthouse stuff and are planning on having a big reception celebration that is TBD.
and these are the circumstances i'm kind of referencing in the push the envelope path, I didn't think any tmb'er really getting the shotgun wedding push tbh with our average ages now, wifes grandfather couldn't make ours due to ill health but got to video chat in a couple times during the day to be included in the different events and died maybe six months later. not real religious or traditional so it wasn't a big deal on that end, but was cool he got included. tough situation to be in obviously with no real right answer. weighing shit like "likely much better wedding experience" vs "make sure grandmas get to see it" is impossible.
Fair point. We don't know. I'm optimistic things will, for one reason or another, look a lot better a year from now. But you're right there's no certainty. I would also add a disclaimer to your invites or website. You are taking a risk, despite whatever mitigation strategies you employ, that your wedding may well be a source of virus spread to guests. And as such you are inviting family and friends to take a risk with not only their health, but the health of their families as well. I would disclaim that you would whole heartedly understand if people did not feel comfortable coming to your wedding amidst a pandemic. A lot of people will feel afraid of disappointing you, and you need to try to take that element away as best you can
This is the alternative that I’d like to see if we do postpone. That presents a few annoyances in itself because my brothers both have a million kids, but still something small. She got to the point where she was ready to elope but we’re not sure that we can get to or do what we’d like in Hawaii so also exploring alternatives like that
Yep, we’ve updated the website and been contacting people to make it clear that we would not be offended in any way if they choose to not attend. Cooler heads coming through, I think we’re both leaning towards postponing now. The big kicker for me is like what you said, people will have to have their guard up the entire night, and we will have some people in attendance that are not concerned at all with the current environment so making those that are concerned feel comfortable is a struggle
Right. The idea is to make comfortable people concerned and help concerned people somehow feel comfortable. I don't know which one is more impossible.
I do. Experts do. Give it 9 months. Try and trust science. We'll have a vaccine (not that people will get it) and we'll be much more ahead with other therapeutic approaches.
From what I've seen in our healthcare community, no one's jumping on that EUS for CP. I think it's a non-factor. Political window dressing, IMO
No one at our org is using/allowed to use convalescent plasma outpatient. We’re one of Regeneron’s sites so fingers crossed they got it right.
Do you have an idea of the cost of getting a treatment of monoclonal antibodies? You mentioned you're starting outpatient procedures of this so I'm assuming it's cheaper than being laid up in the hospital and getting plasma treatment or a blood transfusion. Do most health insurance companies cover this or is it too new and experimental?
tjosu Have you considered having a small, private ceremony and then throwing a big party next year? That's what a lot of people I know are doing.
Yep, we’re looking at options for that as well. We’re more leaning towards postponing so now the decision is if we get married this year or not
Get married now so you're not living in sin Back in the early 90's wife and I lived together for three years before getting married. Her grandparents wouldn't talk to her until they knew we were engaged, because getting the milk without buying the cow or something old and quaint like that
100% of study related costs, including clinic visits, drugs will be provided and patients may be paid for their time. there’s also an arm for household contacts exposed to a positive family member for prophylaxis. Will probably use for my olds
Right, sorry I'm not asking specifically about this trial your clinic is doing, but an idea of what this may cost once it's approved for general use. Just wondering if this kind of technology being new (possibly not covered by health insurance) would bankrupt patients that have high deductibles.
Also if you get married at the courthouse, you could easily end up saving a lot of money if you never get around to having a party down the road
monoclonal antibodies aren't new. been around a long time. that said, they are generally pretty expensive and much more expensive to manufacture than small molecules that get put into pills. these are delivered by either IV or sub-cutaneously. health insurance will cover it (not commenting on high deductibles, etc. - but if patients WITH insurance are bankrupted then, well, you know how I feel about how fucking corrupt health insurance has become).

sure - would like to see some actual data and not just computational predictions, but worth exploring. these computers are HYPOTHESIS generators. not answers.

Just got back from my trial appt. I can't disclose a bunch but a few thoughts: - The nasal swab sucks ass. Worst part of the appt. - In comparison, the shot itself was quick and painless - The physician said they are stopping enrollments at their site next week, and Pfizer believes they will have their 30k benchmark hit by mid-late Sept.
I’ll add you to the PM chain where we discuss all the dirty details that these peons aren’t allowed to hear

I'll have been legally married for almost 2 years by the time we actually get to have our wedding thanks to covid and football season
I'm glad to see a collective agreement among vaccine manufacturers to not seek or accept FDA EU authorization before adequate safety/efficacy data are obtained. I hope they put their money where their mouths are. Bigger point: The safety of a potential mass novel vaccine rollout is effectively completely left to the honor system of private companies right now. The FDA functionally does not exist in the most critical time for their existence ever. This is a very, very bad thing.
The framers of the constitution and a limp dick congress that's afforded the executive branch the powers to do it.
