The report I saw was basically out of the 30,000 trial participants like 130 were hiv patients so there wasn’t enough data.

Our local hiv specialist says no big deal, just curious if you knew more.

As long as they are controlled and have reasonable cd4 counts I don’t see why they wouldn’t mount a good immune response

2nd dose of Pfizer 6 hours ago. So far my arm is less sore than first time and I feel fine.

Got my 2nd dose yesterday at 11:00AM. Felt fine all day. Had almost zero problems after the 1st dose so I got a bit cocky. Woke up around 1:00AM with headache, body ache, chills, and extreme fatigue. I got some Motrin and coffee in me this AM and I'm functional. I'd do it again every night this week though if it means I won't get sick or help spread it. But no lie that was rough.

Is there any indication states are starting to smooth out the vaccination process? 9 million vaccinations a month isn't going to do it

My wife and I both have covid. We are a 1 year old that seems fine so far.

Doctor has told us not to test her without symptoms but obviously she has to be around us.

Is the protocol that she'll have to quarantine for 14 days after our ten?

Fed just recommended rolling out to everyone 65 and over and people with president existing conditions but it will still fall at state level on how it’s distributed. Ex: some states may continue to push to vaccinate healthcare workers first

Hoping things will begin to improve once Biden takes office. I imagine putting capable people in the right positions and actually having some support from the federal government might help

Pediatrician just told us that our daughter is quarantined 10 days from my wife's symptoms starting. Seems weird but ok. That's assuming she doesn't show symptoms.

Newest cdc guideline. 14 days is the conservative option. 10 day catches 95% of cases in most of the studies. I tell people 14 days just in case but I’m just a lowly toilet salesman.

    just FYI

She'd quarantine 14 days from our symptoms starting or from us being clear?

It gets tricky, but since you are living with her and unable to isolate a 1 year old TECHNICALLY it’s 14 days after your 10 day is up, but your pediatrician is basically assuming your kid has it and so is just saying 10 days from onset of mom’s symptoms.

there’s no easy answer without a positive test. I think waiting 14 days after onset of wife’s symptoms and if asymptomatic ok to come out of quarantine but watching kid for another 10 days closely.

Is there a new 72hr symptoms free rule for close contact clearance?
My employer just told me 72hrs without symptoms is clearance to return to work. I worked in close contact with a COVID positive worker last Tuesday. I get tested tonight with results 4-6 days out. This seems problematic if I test positive after returning to work.
I don’t believe my employer wants to pay sick leave. They’ve already told me to file for unemployment. Uhhh this is workman’s comp if I test positive if I’m not getting paid sick leave.

There is no 72 hour rule. Wear a mask and blow off as much work as possible the rest of this week, I guess. But you should really quarantine through Friday.

Yea I've gotten a ton of conflicting information.

My understanding was 14 days after wife and I are clear.

Nurse at my school (we are teachers) says 10 days from my positive test.

Pediatrician says 10 days from wife's symptoms.

Baby doesn't go to daycare but my parents watch her and obviously I don't want to give then covId.

The safest answer is take another 3 weeks off work. Would make 30ish days I've missed for covid.

Almost all the major county websites yesterday crashed because of heavy traffic and even if you can get to it everything is completely booked. My Dad's PCP isn't vaccinating anyone (how the fuck are there PCPs who aren't getting doses). A lot of this isn't even a shortage in doses, it's that there's very few staff to administer the doses that have been distributed, quite possibly exacerbated by us setting new COVID and hospitalization records daily.

Putting that kid near your elderly parents is the last thing I would personally want to risk.

The general guidance has been 14 days from the last possible day your child could get infected from you which is basically day 9 after your initial positive test. Whether that's your wife or you - if you're both interacting with your child then think of those as independent potential opportunities for your 1 year old to catch it. We have absolutely zero data in when and how 1 year olds are infected from others and the rate at which they transmit it. It's believed to be low, but like anything else, non zero.

Your nurse just isn't following the guidance properly. it's 10 days from your positive test for you to be cleared. Not for someone you could infect on day 9.

Just got COVID tested. Swab to the nostrils wasn’t even uncomfortable. The 5 minutes I was there, I was the only person tested. Saw a guy leaving when I pulled in the parking lot and that was it. Marin county, CA has been blowing up with cases for weeks and there’s still no push for testing.

24+ hours after 2nd dose of Pfizer and ya boy is feeling healthy as a horse.

Really tho, was a bit nervous yesterday as I had to work all day after getting it, but so far, so good. Wife gets hers Friday. Both my parents got their first dose..Feeling encouraged somewhat.

The clinic conducting the Moderna trial I'm in is getting their materials slowly that they're having to push back on unblinding visits. I believe there's only 350 of us at this location (750 in Atlanta total) and half of us got the real vaccine so that shows you how slow things are moving even in the damn study groups lol.

God willing I'll be able to find out before the end of the month.

I mean, this avoids the problem with people not showing up for second shots, immediately creates immunity, and avoids Alf of the distribution and administration issues.

Johnson and Johnson vaccine in 1 dose appears to give almost everyone who gets it antibody response at a month out.

now to prove that means they can’t get sick and it’s effective at preventing infections is next step, but coming

If this ends up being proven, couldn't we just focus on manufacturing this vaccine instead of the Pfizer and moderna versions? I realize patents and money may be a reason why, but seems like this is the way to go vs a vaccine where you need 2x as many doses to work
