If you are trying to prove my point that it’s not about mitigation with you, but rather an unrealistic guarantee that everyone can’t get covid, you are doing a good job.
No, I’m just trying to see if we can agree that the current plan of social distancing and masking is not likely to actually keep athletes and teams from contracting and spreading the virus.
So I was right about your expectations. Completely unrealistic. It’s impossible to guarantee a virus can’t spread through the small cracks, but it is possible to mitigate the spread of a virus.
I guess that’s an agreement? If you just answer, it makes life way easier. We’re on the same page about the current protections not really keeping the team from getting and spreading the virus. So it’s really about what happens once they inevitably get the virus, since avoidance is unlikely.
Hmm, I am having the same exact memory loss. Must be from all that brain damage from playing football. If only people cared about us as kids!
Current protections will do a very good job of limiting the numbers of players getting covid and mitigating it’s spread. That’s what matters. It’s proven to accomplish that realistic goal.
I don’t think that’s accurate. If you can’t even tell me the lag times between when players are contagious vs. when they can test positive, there’s absolutely no way to say it will mitigate spread if they’re practicing with pads and without masks daily. Additionally, the SEC’s own medical officials disagree with you and have said that outbreaks are guaranteed on every team.
My only argument with your argument is that were asking these adults to assume risk for the benefit of people watching TV and schools generating revenue off of them while they take risks for free.
Nothing is this certain in a country with 5m+ cases and 150k+ deaths (and counting). You’re disregarding the human element in this, which is significant for a country that has a cultural aversion to wearing masks.
Like, I can’t see how anyone can look at the MLB and think that 100+ member teams sweating and spitting and breathing all over each other every week will possibly limit spread. It’s fantasy land.
The Venn of twitter users complaining about wearing masks the last four months and complaining the most about not playing this fall is a circle.
You have no clue who said that, or what they mean by outbreak. It was very likely a poor choice based upon their clarifications. The realistic goal of testing is mitigating the spread, as it’s impossible to accomplish your unrealistic goal of guaranteeing no one will ever get covid.
If it’s true about me, the same applies to every single one of you. Y’all should care more about the kids!
Ha. I know that it was an SEC medical official speaking with players about covid, and it's literally the words that came out of his mouth. On the other hand, we've got your suppositions and assumptions, and complete punting on the unknowns with regard to testing and being contagious. Let's cut the shit - your entire position is that it's ok if/when college players get it because you don't think it's serious/the risk is acceptable.
My collection of masks is excessive. Might be the most ITT. I have a hardcore painters n95, 6 cloth for community use, and wear surgical masks at all times at work.
