Eh. It's a bad look for all of these pro and college teams to be holding onto money during months of uncertainty. I don't think it has anything to do with it being a "bad sign".
Totally okay not having to watch Nebraska this season. Hell, just to be safe, let's hold off until 2022.
I’m only burying tickets this season so I keep my seats. I have no intention on going to any game (even Clemson) at this point
Maybe. But I think the odds of a season starting in fall is 5 percent. Kind of thinking a February-May season at this point because the revenue is necessary for minor sports/smaller programs.
So many people would sit out no top prospects are playing in that and the NFL isn't moving the entirety of it's draft and off season program and all of the bowls aren't playing in June or July Not to mention trying to play so many games in the dead of winter all over the country this isn't going to work for college. NFL could do it
I think the need for revenue will cause ADs to try to salvage something. A conference-only season in the fall completely fucks Group of Five/FCS schools, so i think it’s semi-plausible to push it back. And there’s not going to be a delay for bowls. If players sit out, so be it.
I'm doing this social distancing until we get a vaccine. Not sitting down in restaurants, not going to movies, not dilly-dallying around businesses (and what business I can I'll push to the extreme opening or closing hours to minimize contact) and I'm for damn sure not going to any public events like sports or concerts.
I assume anyone looking to go in the draft would sit out and turn the the entire thing upside down and it would be entertaining from that aspect. Seeing big time programs gutted would be fantastically entertaining. But I agree that the logistics around having such a season pose quite a challenge. While I, and probably most people here wouldn't care, essentially 9 months of college football in a calendar year is going to draw down casual interest.
Heard some talk about olympic sports being moved out of the current conferences and into regional ones. Makes a lot of sense to me but tons of egos in the way.
Cal State Fullerton announced this morning it is moving all online for the fall. If the entire Cal state university system eventually follows, we’re gonna end up with a blue state red state battle over opening and it’s curtains for football.
Hard to see any way schools reopen before Jan/Feb '21, and that's assuming that some good anti-virals have been found.
lol. Gotta pay for all the new buildings, or whatever Purdue spends its money on. https://www.purdue.edu/president/messages/campus-community/2020/2004-fall-message.php
Fuck Brown University football. Fuck Mark Whipple for recruiting people to play tight end and then leave to go coach at UMass and never contact them again.
He doesn't really say much in that other than we should test and trace and then says they must be open. You can test and trace all you want but you'll find that every student is linked to hundreds of other students. It wouldn't take much for it to be passed to a bunch of people in a few days. I guess the question is if you're alright with like half the students getting sick. Not to mention I don't think we have the ability to test on that scale
At what point would they cancel the upcoming football season completely? I mean obviously they'll hold off as long as they can, and try to postpone or reschedule to the spring maybe. But at what juncture do they actually cancel the games and we shift from the 2020 schedule to the 2021 schedule and just lose those games entirely?
Didn’t want to face us without fans on a level playing field. VERY SAD! Spoiler I hope this means our game happens, I’m really looking forward to it
Thread title needs to change IMO....States are already pulling restrictions and there’s too much money involved. If y’all don’t think the Tahd is suiting up this fall, you’ve got another thing coming. Its going to happen, I have no doubt
They aren’t going to play if only some states are pulling restrictions. If we do get games, they will be in the winter of 2021. You all laughed but the PAC 12 has joined us in the Leaders division and we couldn’t be happier.
They might suit up and I wouldn't bet against it necessarily but completing a full season is another animal and I'm pretty skeptical there
This means they are mobilized to make it happen, but it doesn't mean that it absolutely will. A lot can happen between now and then and in the present universities are having to make decisions based on their own survival first and foremost (ie, the actual public health concern isn't necessarily winning out)
Which means no CFB in CA since a lot of schools have said if it’s not safe for fans, it isn’t safe for the players (as it should be)
