I’ve decided to commit myself to Delta since they fly everywhere I go. Can I get the Delta Reserve Amex then downgrade to the Gold? Looking for tips on best way to do this.
I'm trying to book our hotel for Boston that we leave for on October 17th. I got the World of Hyatt card and am already at about $5,000 spent in my first 2 months or so. You have to spend $3,000 in the first three months to get the 40,000 points. I was well past that before the close of my most recent statement. The points haven't shown up yet though. I called and they said it will be October 1 (6 weeks after) when the points hit . Is there anything I can do to book this hotel before then and still use the points when they hit?
Chase is being slow on posting bonus points across a lot of cards, FYI. I hit the min. spend on my CSP & the statement cut over a week ago, & they still haven’t posted, but they have up to 6-8 weeks to post them.
Yeah they acted like it would take 6-8 weeks. This sucks as idk what to do about booking the hotel. In my previous experience whenever I hit the threshold for points they would post within days. I expected the same this time. Welp, looks like it's gonna be another month and I won't be able to book the hotel until two weeks or so before we leave which makes me nervous af.
I had thought about that but wasn't sure if it would work. Just makes me nervous. Not sure if I should call the hotel or just do this plan.
Guys, ohhaithur and I have never had a single delay in our points on our top-rated, #1 Hilton Aspire cards. Just FYI. Probably the greatest card ever made.
Do you have status currently with Delta and/or would the $25k spend 10,000 MQM boost that comes with the Platinum/Reserve give you status or bump you up a level?
By the way, Hilton Aspire bonus is 150,000 points today - public offer. AmEx Hilton no fee version: 75k (you may see 75k+$50 offer by making a dummy booking) AmEx Hilton Ascend: 125k AmEx Hilton Aspire: 150k AmEx Hilton Business: 125k (you may see 125k+$100 offer by making a dummy booking)
Delta Gold Amex has a 60k offer through a referral with no AF the first year. If you’re doing it for strictly the bonus, go Gold.
If ohhaithur is maxed on referrals and anyone is interested: Apply for the Hilton Aspire Card with this link. We can both get rewarded if you're approved! http://refer.amex.us/MICHAPSqmH
I am now about that Amex Platinum life. Very excited about Delta Lounge and Centurion lounge. LGA is my home airport and always end up spending more than I should on beer/food/etc there.
I talked to a rep on Tuesday and he told me that didn't even send it out till last Thursday. Was shocked as they've always been 2-3 days with my other cards. This is terrible though, I've got bills to pay and shit.

I applied for a couple when I was moving because I was going to use the money from moving to hit bonuses on them and they shut me down for the CSP because I already had the CSR, then I closed my CSR and transferred the credit limit to a slate because I was just using it for the 15 month no apr and then I applied for the amazon prime visa (bc I live right next to whole foods) twice in 2 months and then I got all this shit this past week. wtf.
Oh well, no big deal. My churn game is on hold for now. I'll just stick to my amex platinum and citi AA advantage
You could try to get it reversed. It doesn't sound like you're a real churner, so you might have a shot. By the way, I'm sure you've looked since, but I've always seen to wait 3+ months to reapply for a card.
Well in all honesty its probably better to pay off my move. I'm about to buy into a business which is going to be 200k and I'm trying to figure out how to approach that, I think I'll just call my hometown banker who knows me and my family and see what kind of rate they'll give me if I take that from them and then try and just roll my student loans (115k) into that as well before I start opening other cards.
For two weeks itt we talked about decreasing credit limit to avoid shutdown CoastalOrange had issues with his business cards and a potential shutdown iirc I warned people about shutting down cards under a year and how that might cause shutdowns Idk how many times I've talked about being cautious about Chase Don't start slipping guys
The cards they closed (2) were one I wasn't going to use and one I was going to close in Jan when the fee hit (United club card, I still have the membership card that's still active). I'm just going to let it lie. Pay off some bills and then maybe open a CSR in 4-5 months. I still bank with Chase so they'll get over it seeing as how I have a not insignificant deposit with them.
Never close a fee card in under a year with a bank you'd want repeat business with. With Amex RAT team and Chase enforcing rules, it's not worth it for the long run.
Been eyeing that one but I'm pretty much stuck in the Marriott/SPG universe for the foreseeable future. I've had the SPG AMEX for close to a decade and have been considering making the jump to the SPG luxury. However, my upgrade bonus is only 50k, not the 100k they're offering for new signups.
