    Unsuprising, but still shitty.

That 48 month DP in that thread is the bigger deal though. Really hoping thats not true

Someone said they had too many inquiries in 4 years. Not the 5/24 we're used to

I'm resigned to the fact I'll never get Chase again so that ok

Per the same thread, the IHG card is also now subject to 5/24.

Chase is on an anti-churning tear.

For sure. I think it would be crazy to try to strategize to get under 5/24 now once you cross that threshold.

I think the EIN loophole is next

It would be pretty tight if Chase was as incompetent as Citi

My strategy with Chase is eat up the Annual Fee for CSR (I usually break even on travel & dining out at least) and then just target other banks..

Right now, Chase is losing a lot of money on customer acquisition and rewards - so they'll tighten up today but down the line, someone's going to come around and see stagnating growth numbers - the circus will begin again..

Motherfucker. Just applied for one maybe half an hour ago. Makes sense why I got a "we need more time to review."

I'm finally back under 5/24 but AU'ed on 2 cards my gf has opened this year. Hopefully I can explain that away.

My sisters wanted to send my parents somewhere for our Christmas gift to them. They bought the flights and I used a reward night/points to get them a couple nights at the Chicago Waldorf(my mom has never been to Chi and really wants to go). Really didn’t “cost” me anything, but I get to put them up in a $450/night hotel. Feels neat. Probably gonna buy them show tickets or something, too.

Used my companion ticket for Delta Platinum Amex last weekend. No spectacular value or anything, but if you fly delta at all and travel with a spouse, it seems like a no brainer to have that card.

This is the only reason I keep that card open. Not hard to pick up a couple hundred (or more) in value there.

That's being very conservative. While waiting a couple months between apps is probably the best practice, it certainly is not necessary. During a six month stretch between April and October this year I opened five Chase cards. Three were business cards (for a legit business) and two were personal cards. That's admittedly pretty reckless, but I didn't experience any issues.

You can be a little reckless as long as you don't open more than two within a 30 day span. But I don't like being reckless with Chase

I think the only hard rules for Chase are 2/30 for personal cards, and 1/30 for business cards, but I like like to play it safe with them. Less eyes to your account, less chance to have to speak to recon, etc. Its definitely not necessary though.

I get spooked about shutdowns. I think someone in here got shutdown this year.

Chase caught a fraudulent charge which was totally in line with what I would have spent realistically. Must've been the origin of the transaction

Cash cost divided by point cost. Gives you the cents per point. My baseline is .015 since that’s what the CSR redeems for through the Chase portal
