So I’ve had two different student loans that I’ve consolidated down to and been paying down, type E and type F whatever that means. I just paid one off. Both of my scores just dropped 1-2 points on account of that line “closing.” What in the fucking shit is that?
Alright, just signed up. The latter part of your post--how do I ensure I get the mailers for more offers? Do I have to refer someone?
Feels so good finishing up with a 14y old student loan. Just a punch in the dick to see even a 1pt ding for it.
Also, agree that we have a very real housing problem in this country right now. I don’t know how to fix it, but it’s why I focus my real estate investing on affordable, multi-family homes.
I’m under 5/24 and have only opened a CIP and the SPG Lux AmEx in the past 6 mo. Any reason I wouldn’t be eligible to get either/both of these Marriott Rewards Premier bonuses? We’re trying to rack up as many UR and Marriott points as possible for our honeymoon. https://www.marriott.com/loyalty/earn/credit-card-rewards.mi
My wife still hates me making up a business for CIP. Seems like the best option for points right now. New house so spending limit not a problem, just need some points to fly with my companion pass. There is no reason to cancle my shitty Wells fargo and shitty student discover card right? I think we have like a 50 dollars a month on either of them.
Be careful if these are recurring payments (ie gym membership) on cards that you’re not using regularly and you start churning multiple cards. It’s easy to lose track of small monthly recurring payments and get a ding on your credit.
Not eligible for any of the Marriot cards because of the SPG card you opened up. The only one available to you is the SPG biz.
Yeah I check them, they are my phone's months payment and I have it set to pay off every month . I only have 3 cards lol I'm not gonna churn, bc my wife doesn't understand it fully
Going through this. Gonna have my last loan paid off in 2019. What will really piss me off is if the feds roll out some forgiveness plan for student loans after that. Will have paid off $50k+ in the last three years.
I have zero confidence that our government will be able to roll out any form of student loan forgiveness. Pay it off, don’t look back. Also, congrats.
as someone “in” PSLF, be grateful you paid yours off. I’m sacrificing the first 10 years of my career with the hope mine actually get forgiven.
They also are fucking the public forgiveness plan. 99% rejections. And Devos would happily kill a puppy just to steal $2 from a poor person so I'm with you. She'd probably kill the puppy for fun
How do I refer my wife to the CS Reserve? I want to get credit for referring her, but I"m not seeing anywhere to do it. We're buying a trip to Jamaica for a friends wedding and I want to take advantage of the signup bonus as well as use the $300 travel credit this year.
Is there a good site to use when trying to use your points? I googled and some make you pay. Here's my travel plans, let me know if it's smarter to get a CC and earn rewards or to use my 300k UR points (would prefer to use unless new CC makes more sense). In the next months I'm: Going on a cruise - Fly to Vegas (March Madness) Fly to Nebraska (Sister's wedding) Fly to New Orleans (work) Fly to Jamaica (friends wedding) I have only paid for the hotel in Jamaica so far. With work, I can get reimbursed, so I was going to pay and earn points. Thanks
You can use the portal or look at the travel partners directly. Shouldn't take very long at all and you don't need to pay anyone. But if you want to pay me I'll do it
Yeah I got it. Need referrals for personal and business Southwest cards. Would love to swap for cip referrals.
I have personal but have nothing to trade. I won't be applying to any referrable cards for a while https://www.referyourchasecard.com/224/PUIXF3XKZ5
So I got that my request on the business needs review. Do I go ahead on the personal card? Next step on the business?
Damn. Got need time on the personal card as well. I wonder if my wife making me an authorized user on her cip back in October is an issue. Called to check. Business was 7-10 days personal was 2 weeks.
Am I dumb for not getting the free Amex Platinum since I’m active duty military? I travel a good bit but it’s on the government’s dime usually.
I use awardhacker.com to research flights and find a starting point for redemptions. It’s not going to show you actual availability just what is generally available in peak or off peak season
So I have been approved for the personal southwest card but still 7-10 on the business. Having convinced them on the cip back in August will I need to change my strategy this time?
Yes you should sign up for both the amex platinum and CSR asap, no reason to not have both if the fees are covered. I would just make sure you are getting the 100K signup bonus with the platinum.
Anyone else targetted for AmEx Hilton transfer offer? 50% bonus. So 100k AmEx points is worth 300k transferred to Hilton, instead of normally 200k. Going on a honeymoon in April, and trying to maximize value, likely on a Tahiti trip. 300k Hilton points is not insignificant, but their Tahiti property redemptions are astronomical. Starting at 253k/night
Get the aspire and have an automatic free weekend night cert or get the ascend and be able to reasonably earn one.
Agreed. Don't transfer MR points to Hilton points. A better value would be business/first class flights to Tahiti I would think. Also look into the Hilton Biz as well. I think the current offer of 125K +$100 beats the Ascend, with the same benefits
And I’m almost certain the Conrad Bora Bora is eligible for those certs(May change for some dates) which is $800-$1,000 in itself. Add in the bonus points for signing up for either card(+$250 credit if you go aspire) and you’re in good shape. C A N E , I haven’t forgotten, I’ll PM you about excursions and stuff.
If you have the old Chase Marriott card, they're now offering up to 50k pts to upgrade. Just costs $10 via an annual fee increase. https://www.chase.com/chasegreatrewards/catchall
