BayouMafia called it. I personally enjoyed the interview with AA CEO where he seemed to be thoroughly confused as to why AA was struggling yet he hadn't ever flown in the basic economy seating.
ohhaithur what kind of credit score am I going to need to get the CSR? Just trying to be as prepared as possible
not ohh, but it looks like you'd want something in the 720+ area for that one edit: and already answered
I belong to two Executive Platinum forums and Doug Parker is universally hated in both. Every move he makes is geared toward stripping the customer experience to the bare bones. He thinks AA's network is enough to keep them competitive, and has even flat out called AA's "elite" level flyers spoiled and entitled. To an extent he's correct. I've become quite disillusioned with AA over the past couple of years but since I live in DFW and fly to such a variety of locations for work there's not a feasible alternative. And there are tens of thousands of flyers like me.
Not to get this thread to off topic but I finally reached some sort of status with AA this year but I am more than happy to start working towards another airline as soon as I lose this status.
flew AA basic economy this weekend and it was awful. Two of my four flights were half empty and flight attendants made me return back to my “assigned” seat on both occasions.
Status match.. I had AA and my regular flight was direct through Delta. I status matched and never looked back. Randomly have status with United because of Marriott status as well and have flown them a few times. Status on SW is the only one I don't see a ton of value in since they are open seating.
i admittedly also poke around on flyertalk and a finance forum the olds really know how to get drama going
Delta seems to have to have best planes/amenities. And if you fly a lot you'll get upgraded. I don't fly much for work, twice a quarter, but always fly delta... Also in ATL
Atl in and out is hit and miss for upgrades. Assloads of people have high status. I was 25th in line for an upgrade to 6 first class seats. Basically get upgraded every time out of other places.
Came back from Austin a few weeks ago and I'm not shitting you, 95% of the plane was Zone 1 or higher. They started checking people's carry on who were in Zone 1. I've never seen anything like it
Well, I thought it worked like a charm. Got a letter in the mail today - "Smuggy, our records do not indicate you were solicited for the offer you mentioned (75k miles for $3k spend in 3 months). Please send a copy of the front and back of the offer you received" Has anyone actually seen an American Airlines AAdvantage/Citi offer for 75k miles? I haven't.
Well boys .. remember that you're in the long game - don't cancel a card before 12 months. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/american-express-rat-cracking-down-on-closures-within-12-months
Hilton Diamond Desk Called to ask about the weekend night certificate. She could see that AmEx has posted my card info for them so I should get the certificate soon. I was wanting to do the advance purchase rate to help hit the card spend, so she said "oh that's easy, we'll book the first 3 nights at that rate and then the last night (Sunday) as its own reservation and the flexible rate. Booking that flexible room will hold it out of the inventory, then when you get the certificate we'll cancel it and use the award for that night."
If they’re clawing back bonuses where somebody pays the AF up front, keeps it open for 11 months then downgrades before paying a 2nd full AF, that would suck. That’s much different to me than cracking down on people trying to exploit loopholes, apply for multiple cards at once, cancel within 30 days to try to get fee back and keep points, or even cancelling before 12 mos on a card that skips the AF the first year
Another day, another Citi AA Platinum approval.. I got a code for 65k bonus for spending 2,000$ in 4 months & annual fee waived for the first year. I figured it was time I got another one anyway..
Thanks man! Wife and I are planning a free trip to St. Kitts & Nevis and looks like AA has the best flights down there
I got 3-4 mailers for 60,000 miles for spending 3000$ in 3 months. I ignored those and got the 65k/ lower spend one.
for the CIP application, what does everyone put as their line of work? i know sole proprietor, but then it asks what line of work. is there a trick there? i was going to put catering or whatever because I do that from time to time, but i wasn't sure if there was a trick or best option there.
1. Does Chase Ink Unlimited allow for referrals? If so, hit me with a link 2. Got CIP a couple of months ago. Wanting to get the Ink Unlimited now. Is there a waiting period to get to sign up bonus for the Unlimited?
Would highly recommend just getting another CIP. You can get as many CIP's as you want and the signup bonus for CIP is much better. Also CIU does not have referral. Is your other CIP still open?
Yes it’s still open. I could use the 12 months worth of 0%, which is why I’m looking at the Unlimited.
Hi team, I got a 100k mailer from Amex Platinum, thinking I might sign up. Can anyone here confirm the $200 airline incidentals credit can be applied to Delta gift card purchases? From what I've read, you can get away with it if you buy in $50 increments but it seems like a glitch and not guaranteed to work. I can't even come close to justifying the annual fee if I can't apply all of that $200 credit to Delta airfare.
I've been able to do it two years now with the Hilton Amex so I'd be surprised if it doesn't work with the Amex Platinum.

When you sign up a pet for an aa account do you use a real email and phone number? Wasn’t sure if I can put my own or if that would tie back to my aa account.
I just booked two first class tickets thru Virgin Atlantic for Chicago to Tokyo. 240k points and $531 in charges. So pumped. ANA operated flight.
Ana first is great. Best flight I’ve ever had. I had like an 8 course meal, top level booze and really comfortable for sleeping.
Also, I'm wondering how you eventually access the AA points when they are tied to some else's name (whoever the mailer was addressed to)? Anyone ever ran into a problem with the credit card they're using showing someone else's name on it?
My brother-in-law is saying he gets his AF covered being in the military. I asked if there was a limit and he said no. I directed him towards the CSR and feel like that’s gotta be the best bet for him.
That was my other suggestion, but wasn’t sure if those benefits were better suited for him than the CSR.
