I guess the "for the first 12 months" stipulation is what would scare me. You don't get the initial 0% APR for 12-15 months with a product change either.
It's definitely uncharted territory. Since this is a normal un-sketchy part of your transaction I would definitely call and ask.
https://dannydealguru.com/2020/09/13/product-change-to-chase-freedom-flex/ I don't know how trustworthy this site is but it sounds like the 5% on groceries is considered part of the bonus so you wouldn't get it on a product change.
Trying to game plan for my next CSR/CSP based on the 48 month rule 1/4/2017 - signed up for CSR 2/26/2017 - end of billing cycle/statement date that I got 100k signup bonus Would I need to wait until 2/26/2021 to apply for the card? Or could I apply before and just make sure I don't meet the minimum spend before that date?
We're not sure but my guess is that you can't apply for the card until exactly 48 months + 1 day from the day that your bonus hit (2/27/21)
I wonder if the increased signup for the CSP was timed to coincide with the 4 year (plus one month) anniversary of the release of the CSR
How are chase ink applications going these days? I've been scared to try for a third CIP for the past 6
The Amex Hilton cards don’t have the same 2 or 4 year cant get both cards like chase csp and csr right? The aspire and whatever the next one down is, that has the 95 fee
Are freedom flex categories different than regular freedom? I have CSR and freedom. Was planning on downgradimg CSR to freed unlimited and then get CSP. Curious if the rotating 5% flex categories will outweigh the extra 0.5% on every purchase.
They do not, however Amex does have a limit of one bonus per seven years. However, I have heard of people being able to get more than one bonus in that timeframe.
seven years? Yikes. I got an email offer for an extra 25k points (150k total) on the 95 annual fee card. I was waiting on probably next year to get the aspire bc of covid. Maybe I should just wait for that.
You can get both cards and get the bonus. I’m not 100% on what the seven year rule is, but I can tell you that I have all 3 of the Hilton Amex cards and got bonuses on all 3. comrade static the 7 year or lifetime bonus is for each card. So you can’t get the aspire bonus twice in that time frame, but you can get bonuses for different cards
Same. But some of the mastercard perks are different/better than the baseline ones offered by Visa (primarily the cell phone insurance but some other small ones as well)
I got this offer to. Fucked up thing is I tried to get the card in May and got the Amex Pop Up. Wonder if I can still get it
He meant when downgrading the CSR. Freedom Flex and Unlimited both have 3x on dining now permanently as well. I'm hoping this means a change is coming for the CSR. 3x on travel is pretty fucking worthless right now and same dining as no-fee cards is ridiculous.
:( https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/chase-no-longer-matching-credit-card-offers/ Chase has traditionally been very good at matching signup offers when they go up within 90 days of applying for a card. Unfortunately it seems like those days may be over. At least a dozen DansDeals readers, forum, and facebook members have reported being denied a match to the new 80,000 point signup bonus on Sapphire Preferred, despite just recently applying for the previous 60,000 point offer. Rejections have been reported via phone call and Secure Message.
Just got a notice from chase that they’re going to terminate my business card if I don’t use it within 15 days. It won’t hurt my credit score at all if they close it right? Just wanted to double check before doing nothing.
Correct. Your personal credit score will not be affected by this business account. You can check your credit report to confirm that this account does not show up on your personal report.
So my home refinance is complete and I am looking for a new card. My sapphire 4 year window opens back up next March so thats a no-go, CIP's are a no-go, and thats really all I had been doing the last few years. I am 0/24 so what is the best signup offer going on right now? Following the reddit flowchart I may go with the Chase Hyatt card unless someone else has a recommendation?
I’d pick at the Chase branded cards first. Then possibly Barclays since they are pretty hard to get approved for if you have a lot of accounts. Finish with Amex.
Probably what I will do. Also, any word on if and when Chase is going to extend the Pay Yourself Back? Need to make a decision on whether or not I should buy a couple thousand worth of Amazon gift cards at Whole Foods in the next day or two.
Really Amex? Annual fee of $95 hit on on Friday. I talked with them yesterday morning to downgrade to the no fee card and I got a credit today for $94.22, so I owe $0.78
To confirm who are more in the know than me, I can buy a $1,000 amazon gift card at a grocery store like albertsons or whole foods and apply it to my amazon account then use pay yourself back to pay for the $1,000 gc at a grocery store at 1.5x redemption correct?
And supposedly Chase will be announcing some changes to the CSR this week. Probably expanding categories you can pay off with points or upping the earn rate on dining/groceries/travel
FYI some grocery stores, maybe not a large chain like Whole Foods, will charge a fee if buying a gift card with a credit card.
Update: spoke with an Amex rep today and they offered me 50,000 MR points to stay on and I took it. They began reopening Centurion lounges today. The MR points plus the Uber, streaming, cell phone and seemingly constant gas station rewards make it seem beneficial to me.
Looks like CSP referral is back if anybody is in the market. 80,000 points for $4k spend in first 3 months: https://www.referyourchasecard.com/6/9GGPPMVBHY
I think others have done it before, but I’m not sure if there are special steps that need to be taken.
Got a mailer for the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card today. 5 free nights for rooms worth up to 50,000 points for a $5k initial 3 month spend. Anyone else thinking about this card? That sounds tough to beat for a $95 yearly fee.
Very good point. It sucks having to “make up” a vacation you weren’t otherwise interested in/planning to do just to use certain about to expire.
50k max opens up a bunch of new spots that the 35k free nights don't work on after the recent massive shuffle to how hotels were categorized. It seems like they moved a ton up from 35k
So I have a question which may be a bit outside the normal discussion here. My wife and I had a child in July and my wife is preparing to go back to work (working from home). I have been working from home since August. My wife's mother in law has happily offered to come watch our son during the day when we are tied up on calls or the such. Basically she is acting like a nanny. She lives about 30 miles from us, and its about a 35-40 minute drive. She is refusing to let us pay her, so my idea was to get a gas card and have her buy all her gas with that card which I can pay off every month. Would I be better getting a credit card for this function? I mean its probably going to be less than $250 a month and I wasn't sure if I would have better luck getting a QuikTrip card instead? Anyone ever look into this? Its not for a business so I don't think I need one of their fleet cards. Thanks in advance.
QT is killing its credit card offering next month You can get Bank of America Cash Rewards and pick gas stations as your 3% back? But that's only $72 a year (and only $48 better than a doublecash)...you might as well just go for a big bonus at that point
Easiest way to handle it is to get her a card on one of your existing accounts as an authorized user. If you're chasing cash back or a signup bonus and are willing to open up a new account: -the Chase Freedom unlimited gets you $200 plus 1.5% (in addition to a pretty great offer of 5% on grocery stores the first 12 months) -the BOA card that earns 3% but you would have to spend $333 each of the first 3 months to gualify for the $200 signup bonus.
Chase also announced today that new and existing Sapphire cardholders will earn a bonus on grocery spending from 11/1/20-4/30/21. Sapphire Reserve will earn 3 points per dollar and Sapphire Preferred will earn 2 points per dollar, both with a $1,000 monthly spending cap https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-ca...mporary-benefits-sapphire-cards-due-covid-19/
