Honestly I don't get the love for the sapphire preferred. The metal is cool initially but having to deal with people's gawks is pretty tiring after like a month.
AMEX fraud prevention is great. Saw one sketchy charge on there this morning (for $1.61 ), flagged it, and another tried to go through just now and they called me right away to cancel the card and send me a new one.
Love SWA, never had a problem. Customer service is great and free bags is a welcomed perk. Plus their terminal in Tampa is top notch with Cigar City brewery there. Just booked a flight to Atlanta through southwest, great deal. Looking to fly to Chicago in September and I'm either on cheap ass American or delta as southwest is more expensive.
be me try for three days to change vegas flight from friday (today) to saturday finally get them on phone "ok that'll be a $381 charge for fare difference" my fucking face when "yeah just go ahead and cancel my flight" book flight on Delta so I can fly like an adult and not with the poors. delta flight was $260 but i just used my skymiles fuck SWA so hard their seating system is retarded and the clientele assaults my senses
I was a fan of SWA when I could legit fly to CHI from KC for sub-$100. When they first did their "re-branding", their flights seemed legit cheaper than the competition in pretty much any situation. I've got some jew hidden in my genes somewhere, so I'll always put up with extra bullshit (open seating, smelly/weird people) if I can save some money when traveling. That just doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I haven't flown SWA in a couple years because I can always find cheaper flights elsewhere.
Applying for a Citi Platinum Select AAdvantage MasterCard. I got a US Airways Dividend Miles one last year that converted to an AAdvantage Aviator Red MasterCard, which seems super shitty compared to the Platinum Select ($89 vs. $95 annual fee, fee waived first year on Platinum Select). Plus those 50,000 bonus miles are much needed.
Also, as far as "low-cost" airlines go, JetBlue shits all over Southwest. I wish they would start breaking into the western U.S. besides California.
Didn't realize that open seating is so hard for many on here to comprehend. Are y'all the Asian lady who stands at A15 even though she's B36? Do all airlines allow you to cancel your flight and transfer the credit to a future flight? Only had to do this with SWA so honestly not sure.
There's usually a fee for it, at least on the airlines I primarily travel on (AA/US, Delta, and JetBlue). I cancelled a flight to Austin last year and JetBlue kept my AMEX points for one leg and refunded me about $150 for the other after their fee (I think it was around $50).
Delta will let you apply that towards a future flight but there may be a cancellation fee. I never pay attention since I expense it.
Ah, just an averagely paid postgrad here so that fees take away from my boozing money when trying to travel to see friends in new cities.
i've really enjoyed taking advantage of Southwest RR Visa. 50k points on premier card and I think I got 20k w/ the original a few years back. i don't mind their seating policy, but i'm a man of the people. always get aisle no problem, just have to be diligent on checking in 24 hrs in advance. headphones immediately in and i just internalize all my hate for passengers w/ poor flight etiquette for a later date flew delta for business every week for 4 months a few years back. I didn't see any sort of separation in the flight experience vs. southwest
yep, especially in kc it is pretty easy getting cheap direct flights for quick jaunts to DEN/DAL/HOU/CHI/NSH. willing to sacrifice some comfort for free flights
I dont really ever feel like I'm sacrificing comfort. All those major carriers are the same to me once I'm in the seats
only real difference for me is clientele. some people on swa just don't know how to fly. my only gripe
