Cut it up - they send you a new one whenever the old one is expiring anyway. prevents you from impulse buying
Save it for credit card roulette with your boys at the bar. Then when you lose just cut it up and say you were joking. #lifehack
Chase Freedom for the categories Chase Sapphire for everything else Transfer Freedom points to Sapphire account and redeem for 20% bonus on travel Delta Platinum Amex for the free companion ticket and large purchases to maintain silver status. Pay cash for haircuts and nothing else.
Welcome. I've been swimming in cash back this quarter because apparently all the bars I frequent are considered restaurants as well. Lame department store cash back quarter is next.
the new benefits they gave to the Gold Amex Preferred basically make it a Chase Sapphire. If they don't do the same to the Platinum Amex I'm going to fuckin rage. I literally switched to the Platinum like 4 months ago.
Just out of curiosity but aren't all of the benefits they gave to the Preferred already on the platinum?
Not that I'm aware of. These new benefits are likely in response to the popularity of the Sapphire Preferred: 2x Membership Rewards® points at U.S. restaurants. $100 airline fee credit at one airline for incidental charges such as baggage fees. Personalized travel service with access to experienced travel counselors who can help with everything from a basic flight to the most complicated itinerary. No foreign transaction fees from American Express. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/th...fits-for-premier-rewards-gold-card-2015-06-02
Unless I'm not seeing it, they don't have the 2x restaurant points. https://www.americanexpress.com/us/...av=us-ccsg-cardshop-cm-viewallcards-learnmore
I'm pretty ashamed of the amount of my income that I spend at bars and restaurants. It's important to get the points.
Get stuck in an airport once and the Delta Amex becomes worth it. They're also fucking incredible with contested purchases.
My parents got me hooked on Amex at probably too young of an age but I put everything on it and pay it off multiple times a month. Their customer service is the unreal
I need to get a credit card so I can start getting points for shit. I will pay it off every month religiously and would most likely want travel points. Live in Cincinnati so tons of Delta flights here. Should I do Delta Amex or something from Chase? Someone please help me out
Chase Sapphire Preferred is pretty rad. I got the Amex bc their rewards program is nice and their concierge service comes in handy sometimes.
Quit a job a few weeks ago, moved states, and am currently trying to find another that I'll enjoy doing more. Considering applying for a new card, as well. While I've got excellent credit and a good work history, I'm worried my lack of employment right now will strongly negatively affect an application. I know they'll ask for current income which I obviously have none of but I'm wondering if those other positives would be enough to negate that. Should I just hold off until I've settled into a new job again or would it probably not matter much?
I've got both Freedom and Sapphire. I maxed out the points by paying for everyone's dinners and them giving me cash. The no FTF is gonna be sweet in Canada this summer.
How does the points redemption work on the sapphire preferred? I have the Barclays arrival plus with the travel statement credits and it's super easy.
You can get a cash back credit, use them in their portal, or transfer them to various hotel/airline rewards programs. I'm sending mine to Hyatt for 4th of July weekend.
https://creditcards.chase.com/sapphire/credit-card-benefits They usually transfer at a 1:1 ratio, depending on the program.
Another credit increase on my Discover which is nice for utilization as it's my/our primary card. Also opened a Citi AAdvantage card with a 50k bonus. Already hit it. My wife opened one as well. So we have some free tickets + taxes to somewhere. Trying to decide where.
Being dinged on your credit score because I don't currently have a loan and no loan history is pretty shitty. Makes zero sense as to why having a loan should benefit you. Sure, it helps the CC company get a better idea of your worthiness if they can see you're consistently paying a loan, but c'mon.
Yeah, I guess I was wondering if anyone knew if you get better value transferring to some programs than others. The only one I checked out was Southwest and it seemed like a bad idea to transfer.
