A whole shit load of them offer it but chase sapphire reserve is the best value currently, especially if you can sign up in a branch Every card I've ever had that's not specifically branded to an airline or hotel let's you use your points for cash back if you don't want to use it with them for travel or a travel partner of theirs
Airbnb takes a 3% service fee from the host for each reservation to cover the cost of processing the transaction. This fee is in addition to the 6-12% paid for guest service fees
CSR gives you 1% cash back if you request your points for cashback. You get 3x points for dining and travel coded purchases but i rarely travel or dine out. Seems like a bunch of hoops to jump through for less rewards than just 2% cashback on everything. The citi and quicksilver cards are much better suited for my purchasing style.
If you sign up in a branch they start you offer with a thousand dollars... Takes a while to get to that cash back number on other cards
Anyone used the CSR trip delay reimbursement yet? Just submitted my first claim after my flight from CLT was diverted to Albany and then my connection for my flight back to PHX was cancelled and I had to rebook out of JFK a day later. Only submitted about $70 for meals since American comped a hotel in Albany. Hopefully it goes through.
Actually a thousand bucks is $1,500, but that's the point. I do agree tho, get the bonus and go from there.
Sorry I don't read this thread everyday. So when i look at the online details I see they offer 50,000 points when you sign up...are you saying if I go into a chase branch and apply I can get 100,000 point sign up bonus? So I would sign up. Get $1,000 cash back bonus and have a $450 annual fee so that would be a $550 net gain? Am I correct so far or am I missing something? Edit: ands thanks for your responses.
I dont travel. In the next year I will drive to Florida a few times and stay in a family owned condo. So my travel expenses will be gas, entertainment, and dining out.
You asked where you'd been I just answered You'd also get 300 dollars towards travel immediately. Uber, taxi, planes, trains, whatever. So 850 net cash gain assuming you take advantage of 0 chase travel options
hey at least i got the card that by your own admission is the best in the game. I'm on the correct path.
I asked where I had been? Maybe I will take a work related trip in the next year but it's not likely. And family vacations will not require airfare or hotels so I would have to plan a trip based solely on wanting to use a $300 travel reward. Thanks for trying to help me see the light but I just dont think I will use that reward. $550 still isn't a bad bonus. Is there a penalty for canceling the card after the first year as to not incur another $450 annual fee?
Sounds like you wouldn't take advantage of any of the travel credit, so you'd really on be getting a $550 gain. If you can spend $4,000 in the first three months and want that net $550 gain, then get the card. Gas isn't included in the travel credit for the card. Airfare, hotels, Uber, taxis, subway, tolls, and more are included. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like you would benefit from that.
You can't spend 300 dollars on parking, hotels, uber, a flight, literally any travel thing in a year? You need an intervention, assholes are supposed to have more fun than this
Just hate seeing someone throw away $500 cash/$750 travel funds because they didn't want to drive into a branch. However, your time may be worth more than that
Thank you for your response. The 4k wont be a problem. I put all monthly expenses on a cc and pay off the balance each month. I just wanted to make sure I was thinking about this correctly.
I have twin 3 year olds and a wife. Last year I took a trip to the bvi where I charted and captained a 60' yacht for 10 days so I do get to have fun. But unfortunately I can't afford to take those trips every year. Or every other year. Or every 5 years. But I'm working on that.
Can you challenge this? I just spent 1,000 on a vbro in Asheville. I'd like my points. Edit...answered. payment went through HomeAway....is that how all vbro payments are done?
It was noted in here a while ago that vrbo/home away was coded differently than Airbnb. Sorry to those finding out the hard way
Sitting in the KML lounge in Houston enjoying a bagel and johnnie Walker with a splash of ginger. Some would say that's too much for 8AM. However, it's my first time in a lounge thanks to the CSR so I'm gonna enjoy it.
my CSR came in the mail today. It's beautiful. Now i'm going to get my cable bill and whatever monthly stuff i have on my visa trasnfered to my CSR and start spending on that bad boy
chatted with 2 different people over 2 days with Citi on an issue. both took 10-15m to give me the same answer (that i didnt like) CALLED THEM this a.m and within 30 seconds the nice lady in Maryland solved it always call
I found this out last year when I used my CSP to book a trip at the beach. I called and politely said wtf and they ended up crediting me the points. I honestly don't remember the explanation the girl gave me as to why it doesn't count.
i have like 5 different monthly charges on my visa -my car insurance, dental and vision insurance, my gym membership, etc. Is it worth calling each of those placing and getting the card switched to CSR or just leave them on visa? I'm pretty sure you get at least 1X points on that stuff. If not points then I'll just leave them cause switching them over gonna be a pain.
It's a good perk IMO, even if you don't travel all the time. I have only used the lounges in Houston and ATL. Got a good buzz at the one in ATL with a buddy that was able to get in for free.
if you're going to have trouble spending 4K in 3 months, switch them all over to CSR and then switch them back once you hit the minimum spend.
It was nice to get a free breakfast instead of the overpriced trash in the terminals. The liquor selection was nice, but only had Heineken and saint Arnold's amber ale for beer. I did like that we were able to pour our own drinks.
ready to get on that luxury lounge/airport life next time I travel. Feeling like a baller already. I'm telling everyone i know to get on this thing
Just FYI, you need to go on the ultimate rewards site and request the priority pass. The card itself doesn't just get you in.
