It's really hit or miss on airports having participating lounges and then whether they're even accessible to you depending on terminal location, etc.. It's nice when it works out but so far the only Priority Pass lounge I've been able to actually use was at MSP.
I know this isn't the credit score thread, but had to tell someone. Just checked my credit score for the first time in a month or so, score went up 65 points. Back solidly in the 700's for the first time since 2010.
If you are traveling before the priority pass comes in, you can call and have them credit your account after you pay to get in to the lounge
It's amazing how a divorce can just fuck you royally. Usually it's the guy. I say we start protesting.
Every priority pass network lounge I've been in has had open bar. Some are just beer/wine, but a lot are open liquor and pour heavy (ATL, you're my boy).
48 minutes might not be enough time to try it out. The Houston lounges are in the international terminal
I'm currently in Houston and the lounge is at capacity so I'm sitting outside like some pleb. Bullshit.
I came in at E5 I think....probably ten, maybe 15 mins. I was in no rush at all. If you walk at a brisk pace you can definitely do it in 10. Edit: Update- I'm in here now. The johnnie Walker is gone so I've moved to jack. Running low. Might be red wine or Heineken soon. If I get bumped to the 9pm flight I move to tequila.
Was coming up on the program fee renewal date of my Prestige Card, so cancelling was an option. Note: If you cancel, your Thank You Points affiliated with the cancelled account expire 60 days after closing the account. I knew this already, but went ahead and liquidated my account for 2 First Class RT tix for the wife and I and will cancel next month before the renewal. ~$2k in tickets for about 130k points. Now running Chase Sapphire Reserve and Amex Hilton Hhonors Surpass, both program fee cards but between my spending level on the Amex to retain Hilton Diamond Status and the lounge access/travel reimbursement/Chase points bonus make the net outflow negligible.
fyi the new Hilton rewards allows you to extend your diamond status. if you're ever on the fence about keeping that card
Define extend? My status Honors Diamond status this past and coming year is a result of my spending amount on the Surpass Amex the past two years as opposed to Number of Stays/Nights at Hilton properties. I'll never get rid of the Surpass. Simply having the card means you're baseline is Hilton Hhonors Gold.
Had a later flight and went to The Club at Las after a guys super bowl weekend (look at me). Even earliear with my TSA pre quick entry. Sat and ate a dinner of a bunch of random stuff, had a couple beers and a quick shot of Jim Beam before heading over to my flight... to find out it was delayed (about face back to the lounge). Thought I was going to struggle with the 4K. At 3K with a month and a half left. Spring break with the kids will be on CSR points. Thanks for the advice everyone.
The missus' CSR was approved on Dec 31 - just hit the 4K spend today. Looking forward to the sweet 100K bonus to hit in the next statement.
Advice: don't tell your wife about the points and how they work if you don't have to. My wife and I both opened the card and got the bonus, on top of a bunch of existing chase points we already had. When this month's points come through we'll crack $5,000 in travel credit. She asks me literally every day why I haven't booked a vacation yet.
Ha! My wife lets me handle the logistics of miles/points + trips so I'm in the safe zone. We're planning a trip for June anyway so along with my 160K odd URs, the 100K should help there. Unfortunately, I'm way above 5/24 to even get the CSR. On the bright side, should have another 100K AA miles in March from Citi & Barclays AA cards Edit - I just got a targeted message offering me the Chase Freedom Unlimited with a 150$ bonus when I logged into check my UR balance. Too bad - while it'd have been nice to get a Chase card over 5/24, I value a new account + hard pull to be much more than 150 bucks.
Why, if you don't mind my asking? And the $150 is really 15k points, so ~$225 if it goes towards travel
That's a fair point. I usually go for new accounts as long as the signup bonus value is around $400-500 at least or 40-50K miles. As far as the Chase FU is concerned, I was going to downgrade my CSP next month to a Freedom Unlimited anyway so that sorta mucks it up for me.
If you're planning to downgrade the CSP, I agree that you probably shouldn't worry about opening a new account. And I agree that there are better signup bonuses worth chasing. I only brought it up because I sometimes see people be a little too cautious about their credit score.
Anyone that has a Discover It card: if you've wanted a travel rewards card but aren't in the CSR game, I just got an email from Discover saying you can now finally switch your Discover It card over to an It Miles card. No annual fee, 1.5 miles per dollar. I didn't read too much into the specifics but it seems like an okay, free travel card for people that don't travel too often
I bought a $50 gift card from Delta back in December to finish out my $300 CSR travel credit for the year. I'm now trying to book a flight through Chase Ultimate Rewards, but not seeing where I can use that $50 credit towards a flight. Anyone run into this before? Do I just need to call?
going strong on that 4k in first 3 months. Already at $1k for February which is my first month and I'll probably spend another $750 this week between vday and mardi gras crap. then i'll only need to spend 1k a month for the last 2 months which is easy. then i'll be flying somewhere cool on chase banks dime.
Just save the gift card for in flight adult beverages. Not sure if you can tip on It, but if the stewardess is heat, tip 100% and you should be good for the rest of the flight, and possibly afterwards if you fit into the 2 rules of Tinder.
Not a credit card deal, but if you (or someone you know) has AT&T cell service, you can get a code for Buy 1,Get 1 Free movie tickets on Tuesdays. Only applies to certain theaters. http://tickettwosdays.att.com
SPG is a 35,000 bonus starting today One of the best bonuses out there with how valuable those points are I wouldn't mind a free 5k points for referring someone hint hint
Got a mail offer for the Chase United Explorer Plus card with a 70k signup bonus. Strongly considering jumping on that offer and just downgrading that to the no fee United card later on
Think I'm gonna apply for a CSR next time I'm anywhere near a physical location. Closest one is 100 miles away in WV. After that, it's a trip to Atlanta.
Just got an Amex hilton offer 60,000 points for $1k spend 7x Hilton purchases 5x restaurants supermarkets gas stations 3x all other Sounds like Hilton points are more like .50 per 100 points. No fees on card. Thoughts?
