I loved Grantland and TBOB, but it always mystified me how Simmons got as much pull at ESPN as he did.
Kinda of douchey thing for CC to do IMO.
Don't hate Simmons, didn't root for him to fail, but still laughed.
Simmons' downfall began the moment he let people hear his voice
Simmons could have phrased that a thousand different ways but the road he traveled down was ill advised and he caught hands because of it
You do something douchey, expect it in return.
I just feel like Simmons went to level 2 douche and CC went to level 9.
He timed it well. He was a Boston guy emerging when Boston teams got good. I'll always respect him for Grantland, but he's a pretty big douchebag.
They call that a Trumping.
Don't start nothing, won't be nothing.
favorite new idiom (to me) that applies here:
"play stupid games, win stupid prizes"
Is his show failing?
This is particularly brutal when you consider that Collinsworth wore a lavender sweater on national television during last night's game
Why would CC delete the tweet? Stand by making fun of a guy for having a shitty TV show that was cancelled.
Fuck, that's one of those knuckle sandwiches Diamond Joe is serving up at the White House.
I don't know what paints a worse picture of that show, the fact that it was cancelled so quickly, or the fact that sports fans like myself had no idea it was cancelled so quickly.
I only saw Simmons' show once...A drunk Ben Affleck went off about Deflategate. Was kinda bizarre
Charisma of an ant
He talks shit about Collinsworth constantly. Maybe he had enough?
As Ark so eloquently said "play stupid games, win stupid prizes".
You think it would be possible to keep political shit in one of many political topics?
The people's staff member
I was as big of a fan as there could be. Read the book of basketball, all of his columns, and listened to his podcast. Somewhere along to way he became a huge douche. It all took a strange turn right around the time he said people in Memphis still haven't gotten over the MLK assassination and he could sense it at a Grizzlies game.
Yes, he actually said that.
He really became a caricature of himself.
that was amazing
Lavender is a very soothing color, so step the fuck off!
Simmons makes fun of Collinsworth on his podcast every single Monday (it's not funny). I'm sure Collinsworth just had enough. Team CC
Lavender isn't a color it's a laundry detergent scent
He went from 0 to Arkadin real quick like
They have past history. Simmons does praise their broadcast team for being elite, but then makes fun of his comments in a terrible impression and it's almost never funny and always makes CC look bad.
Simmons stopped actually watching games as he got "more important" and busier with running websites. His takes went from being interesting and/or funny to just bad and hot takey.
Also his pop culture references seem to never evolve other than Fast and Furious and John Wick, and is starting to slide into Chris Berman territory.
Eventually all dads become uncool.
If nobody watched his show it was not great because he's bad at tv and it was basically just a new platform to whine about deflategate more. The guests were always friends of his and the interviews consisted of him complimenting them and agreeing with everything they said.
I think I liked everything about Simmons show, except listening to Simmons himself. He did ask some interesting questions, which was part of the reason I liked the show, but man is he annoying when he talks.
Collinsworth lives at level 9 - Simmons shouldn'tve been standing there
Since that's out of the way I'll chime in with
Simmons is the textbook definition of a corny chode
I think that's more of an axiom than an idiom.
If you don't think Simmons is reaping what he's sown...you don't know Simmons.
This fucking board. Explain yourself Fancy you fool
Hate when misleading thread titles don't include pictures.
Peyton Manning will steal Collinsworth's job and Simmons will have the last laugh.
I'm just happy it took this long to get called out
Tirico and Romo in 2018. I think next year will be the last year for Al and he goes out on top with the Super Bowl.
Bout time someone clapped back at bill Simmons
Ha. The 42 page thread on this guy just wasn't enough, huh?
"post this in a 42 page thread that's only kinda related where no one will read it"
god you're fucking terrible
Weird that Michigan would have a terrible fan
he makes those super cool "look how little i care" posts in so many threads it seems like
