It’s not worth watching. If, IF, they make C3 into its own animated show, it’ll be worth watching. The live stream isn’t. the characters aren’t interesting (outside of Laudna and FCG) or entertaining (outside of Chet and to a lesser extent Fearne - who definitely gets more interesting and funny as the campaign goes on). Imogen is just fine, she should be interesting but the lack of drive to finish the main quest undercuts her entire character arc. Orym is a boring supporting cast member. Ashton is the worst character in any campaign by a large margin. Robbie is completely forgettable and just along for the ride. No spoilers on second half of the season, but the episodes where they take a break from the main 8 PC table were all infinitely more interesting and watchable than the main campaign. the craziest part is, Matt’s plotline and the way he incorporated the aforementioned breaks from the main 8 PC tables was in retrospect really well done, and the BBEG and setting is really compelling! But the composition of attitudes and relationships in the PCs just makes for a garbage product. Travis, Sam, Robbie, Liam all made minor characters that don’t want to make decisions and Marisha and Ashley aren’t assertive or driven on what they want to happen. That leaves Imogen to make all the important decisions (and Laura clearly doesn’t want to unilaterally make any decisions until 118 and Ashton is just a fucking worthless and insufferable character everytime they open their mouth. as you can tell I don’t like the season but I’m too close to the end to quit now.
One-shot supporting LA wildfires tonight c3 final episode following Thursday (8.5 fucking hours lmaoooooo) then they are gonna let Brennan do another EXU:Divergence 4 episode mini arc again.
Can’t wait to wait the new CR/Brennan series(?). Calamity was absolutely incredible and his main nudge me to a rewatch
Episode 1 was just ok. The PCs aren’t very interesting yet. Brennan is the main draw so far. one of my favorite things Brennan does is for certain skill checks he’ll pre-roll give the DC and then will often have multiple DCs and outcomes. I like him narrating it pre-roll instead of keeping the DC cutoffs secretive.
Not compared to C1 or C2, no. They brought a ton of crossover from the other 2 campaigns and had basically multi shot/one shot with C1 and C2 during C3 nearing the end. I think Matt’s BBEG and big fights were great in C3 compared to C2 ending fights (wizards battle was the best), and I think the wrap up 8 hr was mostly worth it on 2x speed… but that’s still like 100 hours of content on 2x speed. long answer probably not, no. I don’t regret watching/listening to it but it was pretty mediocre.
