    Pretty sure there has been muscle ups, ring or bar, in every year of the open. Most of the time they appear at the end of a workout.

    MU in general are used to separate many athletes. One of the more complex movements within Crossfit. Can definitely expect them again this year.

    It's going to be real fun when I get to about round 7 and my quads are burning and about to lock up and I realize, mid burpee on the floor, that I'm just barely halfway through. And when I finish there's a max clean waiting on me if I beat the time cap

    Got a good feeling I’m looking at power cleans tomorrow night.

    And to add to the muscle-up discussion, I’m fully expecting rings this year. I’ve done the bar muscle-up Rx the last 2 years and haven’t had to touch an Rx WOD with ring muscle-ups since I started so it’s time.

    Gym does an Open Thursday night throw down between 2 more-or-less evenly matched RX members. The 2 that went last night severely lowered my expectations, they struggled to get 80-90% of their 1RM.

    Think I'm load up the bar with a no-doubt power clean weight and work from there, they did say squat cleans got easier as there legs loosened up from the WOD....

    Wrist has been in a splint for a few days to try to settle my CTS.

    This one was a struggle. 10:27 Rx with a 185 lb clean (10 below 1RM). Had time for 4 attempts and failed 190 with just enough time to get the 2.5s off and try again.

    I’m one and done for each one this year.

    i really sent it on the first part and shaved 1:18 off my time from Friday (7:16). i was toast after that though, failed first 3 reps of cleans and had to keep going down until i could hit something. 37 pounds less than Friday's 257.

    threw up after. good times! lol

    i'm going to submit today's score. i think the fast metcon will count for more than the pounds on the lift.

    lol I don’t have a fucking chance.

    Maybe I get through a hand full of the ring muscle ups.

    Wrist pain is definitely going to factor into this bullshit for me. I hate this.

    I have to scale it. The more I think about it, the more I’m going to cause myself serious agony.

    Although 115 is pretty doable for me in chunks usually, I don’t think I can stabilize it and I’m not about to expedite surgery for Dave Castro.

    Basically, I’m treating this as MU practice, I’ll get off a few but there’s no way I can do 12.

    I think it is an odd choice to have an open workout that’s too hard for your games athletes to complete

    Did scaled this morning. Man that was a lot of jump roping, got 916 reps. A little annoyed as I've been really sick for over a week now. I think fresh I could have finished.

    Thanks for the confidence. I think it’s coming at a terrible time for me as I finally have ring muscle-ups and still haven’t gotten to log them Rx on a WOD. I’m capable of all of the moves, which sets me ahead of a lot of athletes. But I agree with you. It’ll test me on the scaled side as 90% of my gym will be tackling the same thing and I think I’m capable of finishing it scaled.

    got to the Ring MUs at 6:53 and finished with 230 haha. I hate them so much. Half of them i couldn't complete so it was just a waste. May try again monday

    Did muscle up for first time. Also did first set of 100 DU's unbroken which is most I've done unbroken. Got to muscle ups in 4:43 and managed 5. I'll take it.

    Games athletes that had done 500+ DU's unbroken were struggling in their third set. It was a super aggressive time cap for sure.

    the new HSPU is very challenging. you have to get to full triple extension through your hips to clear the line. just having your arms locked out isn't enough. i took 3 no reps because of this.

    I can't get the kipping motion down for hspu. I def need more practice, but I got the kipping motion for pullups down really quickly. I always end up kicking away from the wall

    Push your knees out wider instead of in front of you and it will help keep you on the wall.

    62 and my judge is dead to me.

    I was apparently a little too deliberate with my reps. My coach came over 6 minutes in and told me I was clearing the line by an inch. I told my judge multiple times I wanted to hear a cue for every good rep so I wasn’t intentionally holding it for too long and wasting energy. He wouldn’t do it and, for that matter, he wouldn’t tell me if he no repped me.

    I have a ~10:00 Diane usually and respect the height of the reps. I still think I’m capable of finishing it but I can’t afford a retest with my wrist so I vowed for everything to be one and done this year. I’m just fucking angry right now.

    There is a certain build that's more conducive to success, but my main problem is that I'm just too heavy which is 100% on me... working on it though.

    Lots of gymnastic moves, that makes sense. Wish there was more oly lifting though. 1RM clean was the only heavy lifting required, and that was a power for most after doing those DB squats and burpees
