Somebody should hire Lewis away. Just keep dropping straight back. Never attempt to establish a run game. No motion. Nothing quick to the edge. No attempts at moving the pocket.
hes limped like that the last 2-3 games. He just gets teed off on. I’ll give him credit. He’s tough as shit.
One of the twins tried to shake his hands and he brushed him off and a bunch of CU players got in the way.
For some reason many in our fan base hate the guy, but he does know what he's doing in terms of o line coaching.
Did your timer go off to come in here and mention them? Cooper has been solid. Thomas is worth the content.
Spoiler A potential game changer on both sides of the ball. Viewed by some college recruiters as a pass rusher at the next level and others as a tight end. Turned heads at both positions the spring/winter following sophomore season as he dominated both elite camps and 7-on-7 tournaments. Already looks the part as he’s over 6-foot-4 and over 235 pounds. Thick throughout the torso, but in a good way. Should only continue to add mass over the next few years. Still learning how to formulate a game plan and attack a quarterback on a consistent basis, but initial burst and ability to dip/bend tends to cause plenty of issues for opposing offensive tackles. When it comes to the catching passes, has shown time and time again that he can not only win 50-50 shots in the corner of the end zone, but also create separation on drag routes over the middle. Will eventually need to settle on one position, but should be viewed as one of the top mid skill athletes in the 2024 cycle given how he moves for someone his size. Ceiling might ultimately be highest as a stand-up edge player in a 3-4 front, but does have some of the required tools to emerge as a difference maker at tight end. CUgator
Spoiler 2. Tristan da Silva | 6-9 forward | senior | Colorado This is the most underrated player in college basketball. I think da Silva makes an All-America team this season and leads Colorado back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2021. Simply put, there just isn’t anything da Silva struggles with on the court. You could theoretically rank him among the bigs, but I chose to put him with the wings because he just has way more to his game and fits here better. He can certainly post against mismatched players, but what I love most about da Silva is his ability to drive and attack from the perimeter. The German forward is a legitimate shot creator and ballhandler at 6-9, and he can knock down shots off some off-ball movement. That allows him to attack closeouts as well, using his ability to drive well. Sometimes it’s for a one-dribble pull-up, other times it’s getting all the way to the rim. Then on defense, he can grab and go on the break, and create shots that way, too. He’s just very balanced and fluid, capable of using his length to cover ground quickly. He was an All-Pac-12 selection last season after averaging about 16 points per game. You’d love to see him rebound it a bit better, and I think there is some room in his game to become a better passer. But with Eddie Lampkin Jr. coming in, I would expect da Silva to play mostly at the four and slot in well next to incoming five-star freshman Cody Williams as well as another All-Pac-12-level guard in K.J. Simpson. If you’re looking for a Pac-12 sleeper that could crash the party and get into the top-three of that league instead of Arizona, USC or UCLA, Colorado is a good bet. This is a really good basketball team, and da Silva will stir the drink.
Nice write-up and a positive review of the team on the the whole. If Da Silva can maintain the improvement he has shown each year, he should put together quite the season. The biggest opportunity for him may not necessarily be more rebounds because Lampkin/Hadley/O'Brien and even Cody should be strong rebounders themselves, but rather to add a few more assists to his game. His teammates need to help him in that department by actually finishing, but if Tristan starts cooking there should be plenty of good looks to go around if he can make the pass. A Buffzone article the other day mentioned a quote from Tad that he loves his first 7 (KJ, Hammond, O'Neil, Cody, Tristan, Hadley, Lampkin), but that he is not sure that the rotation will go deeper that 8-9 guys. Presumably that means RJ Smith, Diop, and Dak may need to earn it -- every indication is that Hurlburt was already overtaken. A few thoughts: 1. I would assume RJ and Diop are going to get time anyways. They need to start developing another Guard in case of injuries, and Diop brings more interior size in case Lampkin has any injury issues. 2. I think a tighter rotation is going to be better for role development and for the overall record, assuming they can manage the health. That top 7 is salty. 3. I think there is a lot riding on Hammond and O'Brien this year -- maybe too much. Tad was looking for another guard + shooter for a reason (fucking NIL). If those two can't hit from outside more consistently, and if Hammond struggles against higher-level talent, KJ + Tristan are going to need to carry quite the load. Still, I think the 2nd half of last season was huge for both of them, so I am (as usual) optimistic. 4. Random note: 247 had Diop listed as 6'10 and Bangot Dak at 6'9. That said, cubuffs.com has them as Diop = 6'8 (210) and Dak = 6'11 (180). Based on the video, those seem much more accurate -- Dak looks incredibly long (and thin), but Diop looks like he has a college-ready frame that is less likely to get bullied. Next year's team is going to be nothing but tall dudes and a couple mini-PGs.
In case it is not clear from that fucking essay, I am using basketball to bridge the gap from today to the opening of the transfer portal. Do love that basketball is almost here though.
Yes. More recruiting news. Very excited for the basketball team. Women's team should be pretty good again too. Looking forward to Dak developing into an NBA guy.
Another composite 4-star for Tad, if he is indeed onboard. Surprised they grabbed 4 freshman, there has to be some turnover now (cough cough hurlburt). That said I don’t expect our NIL in basketball to be worth a darn, so recruit and develop will remain. Another dude with some legit size.
