Only significant problem I have with YouTube TV is lack of espn3. I need to be able to watch Stony Brook etc on Saturdays in the fall.
I think it's just NFL but why the fuck can't I watch on my phone? Whether it's WatchESPN or YoutubeTV says to use tablet, pc, etc. so I end up getting a random stream if I ever want to watch from my phone.
WatchESPN was complete two years ago. Constantly buffered and crashed. It's pretty reliable now. I'll always keep Netflix. Most of the shows I enjoy are on Netflix to begin with. Any other shows I want I'll just pay for ABC/NBC/Fox app for one month binge the show when it's done then cancel it.
NBC isn't available here currently on YoutubeTV Other than that - 1.5 weeks into it I love the service. Not even using it to the full extent. Once we get past our last deadline and slow down a lot at work I'm gonna get to looking for stuff to DVR while I'm at work. Also ready for them to go ahead and get an app I can use instead of casting it from my phone or laptop to chromecast.
Son of a bitch. Hulu may have just picked up a new customer: Hulu feeds '90s nostalgia with ‘Boy Meets World’ and 'Dinosaurs' It's adding ‘Home Improvement’ to its library as well. Back in the '90s, a Friday like today would've brought me endless excitement. Obviously, it meant the weekend had arrived and thus no school and no waking up early. But it also meant TGIF -- the best chunk of programming of the entire week in the opinion of tweens across the country. While TGIF is no more, you will be able to recreate your own lineup tonight if you wish because Hulu has added iconic TGIF series Boy Meets World and Dinosaurs to its streaming service along with Home Improvement. Thank goodness it's Friday. Hulu announced that it was adding some key TGIF gems to its library back in July -- Perfect Strangers, Full House and Family Matters -- as well as non-TGIF but still awesome Step by Step and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper. Those and the three series just announced will all be available for streaming starting today. I suggest you watch one episode of each tonight and maybe throw in a little Sabrina the Teenage Witch for good measure. TGIF is back even if it is a little DIY.
I have AT&T and watch on my phone with the chrome browser and set it to desktop site on the watchespn website.
Probably gonna get rid of cable and switch to Youtube TV soon. Neighbors just did the switch this week and already love it and everything I read online says it's the best option out there right now.
A weird byproduct of not having cable during football season for the first time - I spend way more time actually watching the games because of lag. I don't check Twitter because it's a couple minutes ahead of the game and I ignore texts and group chats until commercials so I actually spend more time paying attention to the game.
Really? Mine will occasionally buffer but overall I have no complaints. I do typically only use it for football games so Im sure it has plenty of feeds to choose from.
Only complaint I have is that when I try to go back to the channel section screen (return arrow on Fire TV) it makes the show I’m currently watching really small and the rest of the screen is black. I end up having to go all the way out of smoothstreams and kodi then go back in to change the channel...anyone experienced this before?
Yeah, it's a default setting. I can't remember how you change it, but if you play around in the settings there is an option that makes it just go back to the guides.
Same here. This happened after I upgraded to the latest kodi. If you hit the stop button on your current stream, you will be kicked back to the guide. It will save you from having to exit kodi.
Yeah, this happened to me too. As was mentioned, it's something to do with the settings. As for my comment about it not being smooth for me; quite often I'll have a stream buffer. Then, after it's done buffering, the video will work for awhile, then turn choppy. If I go back to the guide and click the channel, it fixes it for a bit, then rinse and repeat. Happens most often with Royals games...which of course are over for the season so that fixes that. I've thought about hard wiring my FireTV to my router to see if that helps.
Netflix is raising its prices for US subscribers Netflix is raising two of its pricing tiers for US subscribers beginning next month, Mashablereports. The standard tier, which allows subscribers to watch on two screens at once, will be bumped up from $9.99 to $10.99 per month. The premium tier, which is available in Ultra HD and allows users to watch on up to four screens, will go up from $11.99 to $13.99. The Basic $7.99 per month plan will remain the same. “From time to time, Netflix plans and pricing are adjusted as we add more exclusive TV shows and movies, introduce new product features and improve the overall Netflix experience to help members find something great to watch even faster,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement to The Verge. In 2015, Netflix bumped its standard tier, which is also its most popular price point, from $8.99 to $9.99. This summer, Canadian Netflix subscribers saw both the basic and standard tiers go up one dollar, to $8.99 and $10.99, respectively. Given the huge amount of competition in streaming, small but steady price hikes for customers are basically a given. Netflix is trying to grow rapidly, and that means spending a lot of money on original content. In a recent interview with Variety, Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos said the company plans to spend around $7 billion on content in 2018, up $1 billion from its spending in 2017. Netflix also recently invested $400 million in a permanent Canadian production presence. Hulu and Amazon each have several billion budgeted for original content as well, while the head of Amazon Studios has said the company is racing to find the next Game of Thrones. A small price shift probably isn’t enough to deter a majority of Netflix’s 100 million subscribers, but as the streaming industry splinters into small niche services, customers have more options then ever. Still, even Netflix’s new $10.99 standard tier is cheaper than HBO Now’s $14.99 per month plan and Hulu’s $11.99 commercial-free plan. Netflix says customers will be notified of the change based on their billing cycle, beginning on October 19th.
mine does this. long press the back button and it brings the guide up. need to find the setting that takes it back with one press. will the screen still minimize, or will it completely take the video away?
What's the consensus on Uverse...specifically the internet? Cox has been sucking something awful and Uverse just became available in my area.
Anyone else having buffering issues with SmoothStreams the past 2 days? Doesn't matter what server I'm using.
No problems here. I have had streams going all day yesterday and today on both fire TVs and web browser. Maybe your isp?
I signed up for the free trial and it sucked. I had to find and illegal stream and ironically it has been more consistent.
I've just been using the ESPN and FS go apps with my Sling login. Otherwise Sling would be receiving a strongly worded email from me.
About 1-2x a month, Sling streams just don't load. Usually I'm ok with it, but on Saturdays it pisses me off. At least the ESPN and Fox apps work fine for me. I know they don't for a lot of people. Otherwise, I'm happy with the service. I do hate their interface but it is what it is.
Yeah, they are sending them after your 1st payment, after 2 week trial. I just got mine the other day.
Just moved into a new place a couple weeks ago and was prepared to try PSVue or Youtube TV as a cable alternative, as I had previously had miserable experiences with trying to stream WatchESPN or FSGo, particularly ESPN. But I got a new Fire Stick and decided to give the apps another try before I went the pay route, and through two weekends of football, I've had almost zero issues streaming on either app. Combined with my HD antenna, I haven't missed a game I wanted to watch, and I've been able to watch everything in perfect quality. No clue how long this will last for me, but so far so good.
Update (monthly costs finalized, includes taxes/fees) ~$38 for YT TV ~$47 for 100/10 internet from spectrum. ~$139 from Cancelled uverse Means I'll save $54 a month or approx $650/year. Really only losing ESPN3 Content, but that might show up later.
How has this worked out for you so far this football season? I am looking at the antenna someone suggested in reply to this post you made so I'm hoping I can get it + PS Vue and be happy
I got an HD Antenna and all the channels are pretty great except NBC and CBS. I see the Fox and ABC games just fine. My sling package picks up all the FS1 and ESPN games without a hitch so all I really miss out on is the 2:30 CBS games and Notre Dame (which I generally don't care about). I'm not a huge NFL guy so if you are maybe consider that when it comes to CBS.
