I didn't read the article but does the provider ever actually have leverage over the big boys networks?
My uncle in Arizona watches nearly every reds game. I live close enough to the stadium to hear the fireworks and the only way I can watch is by borrowing my dad’s password.
I'm enjoying the quad view but when you have a lower volume ABC game in the mix it kind of screws it all up. jmo
This Disney/Directv fiasco was the kick in the pants I needed to finally cut the cord. YouTube TV for us now
I don’t think that’s the only way to watch. I bet the powers at be would prefer if you went to the game and watched in person or bought the subscription yourself.
have other people's YTTV been really buffery / garbled during 4 boxes? my friends in Denver have confirmed the same, so I can't imagine it is our otherwise high-performing wifi.
Mine hasn't been great on my bedroom TV but I also have had wireless signal issues with this TV in the past and chalked it up to that.
I've looked here in this thread in others but can't find the conversation. It was about a not-quite-pirate method of having a box (along with internet) that gives you pretty much everything available (local, cable, pay-per-view, Netflix, etc.) for a weekly/monthly subscription fee through any of a wide range of "providers." Boxes purchased through Ebay, I think. Any help? Even just responding with what the overall technology/service is called might be enough to get started. Thanks.
Just jailbreak an Amazon firestick/TV and then subscribe/load an IPTV service provider to it. It is what you're describing, but you can easily do yourself. Just google it.
So basically we're nearly back to where we were with the streaming apps replacing the old school on demand channels
I did not noticed anything during Saturday or Sunday, but I’ve had that before and mines connected via Ethernet cable to a 1 gb fiber connection.
It eventually becomes the streaming bundle once the tech fully catches up. Especially being able to use a guide on streaming apps like cable perfected. Once it gets to I’m watching a game on ESPN+ but wanna see what’s on Paramount+ w/o having to exit ESPN+ is when this all fully changes.
Yeah the exit app to open another app just to see what's on is literally the worst It's also why I think in the future, kids like my 10 year old may not have much desire to even have large screens in their homes at all. Just no desire to put up with the clumsy tv channel changing when everything they want to watch is at their fingertips on a phone The way things are trending, with TVs being cheaper than phones, it probably would just become part of the decorations in the house and not so much a focal point of the living room like many of us
Hulu price increase means I'm going to look at options again. Thinking about fubo or directv since they have plans with Bally sports, so I can cancel that too.
Seems the same price as everything else because of the add on fees for directv. Their advertised 74.99/month bundle is actually 97.98/month when you go to checkout. Plus another 10 for Disney plus a month, you are at same price for new Hulu/Disney bundle and paying monthly for Bally Fubo seems potentially cheaper but you can't see their add on fees up front, and they don't have WBD so you won't get ncaa tournament or TBS/TNT and their sports
I don’t know if this has changed but the Fubo lag was really bad when I last had it two years ago. The broadcast delay reduction alone on YTTV would make me not even consider anything else right now. Their channel line up is unmatched if you’re into only football and soccer. Definitely lacking for everything else. You can craft your own quad box with any channels though.
I would switch from paying $200 a month on DTV but my internet in the sticks is a T-mobile hot spot and it has a habit of going out a few times a day for 5-10 minutes. It works fine otherwise but the first time it goes out near the end of a close game, I would be afraid that I would throw something at the TV.
Does anyone ever run into issues where the sound doesn’t match the video on YTTV? Feel like I saw a solution for this awhile ago but can’t remember.
I have audio drops with YTTV using a Google TV Chromecast. I have to change the channels to get the sound to come back. Zero problems using an Nvidia Shield TV.
Came across the billing history page for YTTV. $37.89/mo in early 2018 $53.11/mo in mid 2019 $69.05/mo in mid 2020 $79/mo in early 2022 $89.83 since Aug 2023 Could see it getting to $115-125 without much channel or package changes.
isn’t the beauty of YYTV is sharing it amongst friends/family to cut that cost per person down? Isn’t that what most people are doing?
Was over at a friend's house yesterday watching games and he had this. Was pretty sweet. Could pick any games or anything to watch all at once. We had 3 games on and redzone. I think he pays $20 a month for 2 firesticks. Sounds shady (it probably is) but it works.
For some of course. I don't share with friends nor have any family that can share due to the location check-in that occurs every ~30 days or something like that.
I know this comment is like 3+ years old, but I have a buddy who uses it and swears by it -- he just told me about it a couple weeks ago, and now I'm strongly considering buying a yearly package and splitting with a buddy since 2 devices can simultaneously stream.
