One of my older TV's only had a 1.0 tuner in it so I bought this 3.0 tuner. https://www.zinwell.com.tw/us/digit...tv-atsc-3-0-box/atsc-3-0-set-top-box-zat-600b
This link shows the YTTV price trend https://www.androidpolice.com/youtube-tv-price-increase-history/ 2017: $35 2018: $40 2019: $50 2020: $65 2023: $73 2025: $83
my friend did a focus group on future YTTV offerings. I think they are going to try to offer smaller channel packages, with one of course focused on sports
Dropped Netflix today with the upcoming price increase. Can always restart if there are a group of bingeworthy shows but I just hardly use it compared to other services. I wonder what % bail each increase.
My cable +internet bundle was around 180 iirc. YTYV + internet is about 40 bucks less and it doesnt include premium channels. It's pretty damn close
did your cable package allow for viewing on other devices w/o cable boxes at home or viewing on your phone/browser etc when away from home?
in 2011, my final year in college, I lived in a big house and everyone who wanted cable in their room had to rent their own box and we divided the bill accordingly. OTOH, it was like $10/box/month.
Would one still have internet service without a streaming provider? When I consider the pricing, I take internet out because I’d have it anyway
No. But the only time I need to is for sports and all the networks had apps or sites that allowed you to w cable credentials
I have beef with how NBC does it. Just put everything on Peacock and be done with it. The "8 out of 10" are on peacock just means we have to open 2 apps to find where the last 2 games are. In practice, I turn on my TV and it's roulette as far as launching YTTV or peacock app, only to see I went wrong and have to close/relaunch the other one to access the game. I bet they eventually dump the USA game, but man it's annoying now (and has been for years).
Also unlimited DVR, no contracts, customizable lineup, quad box, etc. I mean it may not be as huge of a savings compared to everything like it once was but it's still the best "product" for the money easily
Having a room with multiple TVs it’s much easier to manage three Apple TV’s with YTTV than it would be three cable boxes or having to invest in something to simultaneously manage all of them like a sports bar.
So I cut yttv and figured I'd find a solution for march madness. Turns out I can get everything between my max and Paramount subs? What a stupid and redundant system they have created
I feel like thats on you for not realizing the two streaming apps owned by WB/Turner would also have access to the games being played only on those channels
I honestly didn't think about it because I have a march madness login through other means. It was more that instead of giving people access to overlapping content, maybe these dickheads should put it in one place and reduce the cost of the others
I believe WBD backtracked on charging extra $$$ for sports within Max. Didn't realize it was actually that 'free'.
When I had Fubo I used to just do a month of Sling. Max + an antenna or Paramount+ for CBS games is probably the move now.
YMMV but my Chase credit card has a $20 off YouTube TV and $15 off Fubo offer going right now. also notice they have a 100% cashback up to $8 on peacock so I guess basically free for a month?
ESPN will finally release all the details about its landmark DTC offering next week.— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing.bsky.social) 2025-05-08T13:51:07Z
If a person were to have YTTV + the already existing Disney/Hulu/Espn+ bundle, there is no need for that correct? or is Espn standalone going to have exclusive content an Espn+ or TV subscriber login wont have
I started out on YTTV. Then switched to Hulu for the DIsney Bundle when it came out. Last year I switched back to YTTV for quad box. We'll see how this plays out but the switching back and forth is do dumb lol
like is this going to have ALL of the ESPN live content across all networks including stuff like SECN+
yes, it will be comprehensive. Im sure you will have to pay for PPV fights. But no content will be behind a "select TV provider" wall.
I think I have an ad free bundle with Hulu/disney/max. I wonder if that's still just a small upcharge or if they'll force you into an ad plan
If all you care about is the SEC and nothing else it seems like a good deal. Doesn't really eliminate the need for a YTTV or other streamer.
