Not sure if it's possible but you might want to see if you can get a small HD tuner from your cable company. I looked into it because I am also in the hills, and it works out to about $10 month for your local affiliates and some other shitty channels you won't ever watch. But that would at least cover you for football ABC/CBS/NBC/Fox, minus your FS1/2 and ESPN but those are easy to get logins for. Downside is that there is definitely an installation charge which would probably negate cost savings by disconnecting it off-season. Other than that I have basic PSVue and I don't have any complaints.
Not that I’m aware of, but I’m on Spectrum for internet & won’t even consider AT&T until they start offering the gigabit service in my area.
Regarding Plex, research tells me that in order to watch local channels I still need an antenna, correct? Cutting the cord in the next week or so and trying to avoid an HD antenna. Planning to use Rapid IPTV for other channels, so I just need a local channel and DVR solution. thanks
Which of the services (Hulu, DirecTV Now, etc) have the largest selection of shows on demand? Thinking of switching away from Hulu Live but if the future Mrs Jax Teller can't go watch old seasons of Big Brother she's not going to have any of that.
Also we are looking for the best option that has live tv and on demand shows. Tried DirecTV now this week but it's on demand library seems weak
Been doing a bit more research as I'm trying to pick an IPTV service. Somebody tell me why this is too good to be true. I mean it seems somewhat illegal, but other than that it appears that quality and reliability are great, and the price is fantastic.
The good thing for Youtube TV is when you add a show to the DVR, you immediately get access to all the previous On Demand episodes for most shows. Also its unlimited DVR. Downside is if you record something, after two days it becomes On Demand and means you have to deal with some commercials. It doesn't really bother me much.
really the idea of IPTV in general. The services I'm considering though are RapidIPTV, BestBuyIPTV, or Epicstream.
You nailed it, not somewhat illegal, it is. That said, get yourself a VPN and go ham. Just realize you have no recourse if shit goes sideways with one of those services. I have one myself, for sports, but again, at the price it's worth the risk.
My brother in law has been doing IPTV's for probably a couple years now and loves it. There are occasional lag issues, but relatively rare. I think he has to change services a couple times when one of them got shut down, but he loves it. The one plus I have for YoutubeTV is that I can watch wherever from my phone, different TV's, etc. I think his services limits him to 1 stream at a time, but you can purchase a plan that allows for multiple. I think he pays like $10-$15/month.
Considering canceling Sling for Youtube TV. It's only $5 cheaper vs Sling Orange + Blue + Sports Extra but I haven't been all that impressed with Sling and wanted to give something else a try. Plus my new place has terrible antenna reception so it can be tough to pick up the four major networks on my HD antenna sometimes. Yay or nay?
Maybe wait until football season gets in full swing and do the free trial before you cancel Sling. If it sucks for football then you still have Sling to fall back on without having to sign back up.
Ah good call I completely missed that there’s no NFL redzone because it’s not football season. That might be a dealbreaker, that’s like 90% of the NFL I watch
Do it! What do you use to stream? I do Youtube TV via my Roku. I can just subscribe to Red Zone thru the NFL app/channel
And football season approaches I’m digging deep into these services as far as CFB coverage goes. Buying Sunday ticket and will get local for NFL games. Do any of the online packages have all of ESPN/2/u, FS1/2, BTN, P12N, and SECN? I think YouTube tv has all but p12?
Hulu has: BTN CBS Sports ESPN/2/U/News Fox Regional Networks FS1 FS2 Golf Olympic Channel SECN Local Channels Vary by Location. I have CBS, FOX & NBC. But can watch ABC sports games live via ESPN app. No Pac12
Just cut the cord so I could use some assistance with what to pick up for football season as well. Hulu could be the answer based on the post above. I really just need ESPN and access to Espn streams, access to top games on fox or fox sports networks and access to regional sports networks via fox so sounds like Hulu could cover all of that
I went with YTTV primarily because their sports channel lineup is so strong as well as all local channels. Gets me everything I would ever need.
I think I get burned every fucking time I sign a contract with cable/internet. Thankfully I'm only paying $30 a month for Internet so paying out 6 months is only $180 but still, fuck.
Yeah I think the biggest advantage of any of these streaming services is that they're month to month. If you're not getting what you need, you can just cancel and pick up another one.
I didn’t really have any issues with fios when it was Verizon. When it switched to frontier it’s been hidden fees, lock ins never asked for and problem after problem. I cancelled just so I wouldn’t have to deal with them. Honestly didn’t care about paying a bit more. I just got sick of the contracts and the bullshit. Switched providers just for internet out of spite. Happy to just have Netflix/Hulu/amazon in the summer and then add something next month once football starts.
In Florida I get Fox Sports Florida and Fox Sports Sun on YTTV. Only negative thing I see sports related is what has already been mentioned. No NFL Network and No RedZone. Maybe it could get added before the season starts but more likely I'll have to use a login for the sunday nfl ticket app from a friend/family member who has directv.
Yeah, it's Frontier. I was with Comcast but once my promo period was up their offers were shit. I tried twitter, calling, chatting, every avenue possible. Then like 2 weeks after I switch I got a local rep calling me up, coming to my house, begging me to come back. Saying things like "Well ya know Frontier isn't doing too well and likely going under soon." Still even having to pay out this Frontier contract I saved money vs what Comcast was offering, better speeds too.
My comcast promo period ends next month, and they also recently took away espnu from my package for some reason, which is really bad news if you're a unc football fan. Looking like I'll be researching youtubetv and hulu this week.
I get Fox Sports Kansas City and Fox Sports Kansas City Plus which is our local Fox Sports affiliates YTTV also gets NBCSN
I believe you can purchase Sunday ticket and/or redzone individually through the NFL app but I could be wrong.
Looked at this yesterday, they have a $99.99 Game Pass but it doesn't include NFL Redzone or any live games. Seems like a waste of money https://gamepass.nfl.com/packages?redirected=true
Really looking through all of this now to prepare turning off Direct TV in November. This is what I've found, please let me know if I'm missing anything. I'm looking for the ESPN, NBC & Fox sports lineups plus Red Zone and DVR storage Sling - Blue, Orange & Sports Extra needed which is $50 + an additional $5 for 50 hrs of Cloud DVR - Total $55/mo PS Vue - Core & Sports Pack needed which is $60 - DVR seems to have no additional charge but only last 28 days? - Total $60/mo YouTube TV - Missing RedZone but unlimited Cloud DVR - $40/mo My DirectTV TV & Video costs are currently $85, so anything under that is good. Feel like YouTube TV would clearly be the best if they had RedZone. I am planning to keep my AT&T fiber internet which is only $60/mo for 100 MPS & a 1TB/mo limit, which I'm never close to. I guess this year I'd roll with Sling to get RedZone and hope that YouTube TV gets it for next season. Anyone know if this is in the works?
Do you have any of devices below? If so, you can get YTTV and then just subscribe to RedZone thru the NFL app.
