Yikes. That will probably become a problem for me as a Virginia fan (even if most games move to ACCN, I'm sure plenty of basketball games will remain on ESPN3). I hate to be one of those "I use my parents login for _______" guys but it looks like that's going to have to happen.

Just CTRL+F "espn3" and scroll. Some digital/streaming coverage may end up in my estimation.

Most is FCS or lessor content, but there are definitely Group of 5 games in here.

It's an unfortunate move, but I think most meaningfull cfb is moving over to espn+

    YTTV is getting ACCN allothersnsused

Thanks for the heads up but I should be ok - I’ll be getting ESPN + anyway when the Disney+ service rolls out & I subscribe to their bundle with Hulu & ESPN+

I would like to cut my cable when I move, bros.

Xfinity is offering me 150MBS download speed and the channels we want/have for $141/mo. If I go to internet only, at 150MBS it’s $82/mo + $50 YTTV I’m at $132. Internet just tested at 62MBS, so there’s that.

AT&T internet only is $50/mo for 50MBS, which makes things more worthwhile, but is 50MBS enough to handle two streaming TVs and let’s say two devices at once?

So Fios has been out in Tampa for close to 36 hours now. Sucks when you cant stream anything on a TV once you cut the chord. Have to resort to your phone and chew up data.

According to YouTube, you need: 3+ Mbps for standard definition video. 7+ Mbps to stream a single high definition show if no other devices are using the network. 13+ Mbps to stream shows in high definition if other devices are using the same network.

    You'd be fine.

Ashamed to admit it looks like I may be ponying up the $35/mo. for basic Sling + RedZone, for at least as long as my fantasy teams are relevant.

Going back and forth if I want YTTV or settle for Reddit streams. Reddit has been working well for the pre-season, and it's nice being able to watch any game you want rather than what broadcast decides for you.... but I'd also like to DVR the Buckeye games.

Speed is only one concern. When cutting cable, though, data caps can present a problem. It's not too hard to blast through a terabyte each month. Just one 4K television running 10 hours per football Saturday could burn through almost 300 GB per month. Expect to shell out another $50 for the no-cap option.

I have a 2 TB per month limit (which is fairly standard I think) and have never come close to hitting it. I'm not saying it's not possible but during football season I'm typically running 2 TVs for many hours both Sat and Sun on top of plenty more after work during the week.

  17. Schadenfred

    Schadenfred Well-Known Member

Unless the major providers have collectively changed recently, I think 1 TB is the standard. Plenty providers have a cap under 1 TB. And it has to be so with cordcutting being so prominent. They have to somehow recoup the losses from customers dropping cable.

edit: Naturally, data caps are pretty much fabricated. It costs the providers pretty much nothing to give you more data. It's the speed that costs more money.

I have Cox which is a major provider and it's 2 TB here but they could do it differently in different markets I'm sure.

Sounds like it's unique to your area. Or maybe you're already paying for it. Or maybe it's a temporary freebie. Per their website, the cap is 1 TB.

Yep, 1TB is pretty much the standard with some having a fairly substantial fee for unlimited. Some even do tiered data caps, forcing you to pay a shit ton to get a bigger cap. Where I used to live, if I would have had Shentel internet, Iw ould have been paying well over $100 a month to get the plan with a 1TB cap.

  22. Schadenfred

    Schadenfred Well-Known Member

Yeah, if 2 TB were the standard limit, then internet providers would be losing money hand over fist as customers flock to cutting the cord. Caps are pretty much their only remedy.

Most streaming isn't in 4K for people itt. Most people here are watching more sports on PSVue or YTTV than some of the 4K content elsewhere.

I don’t like YTTV. For some reason I can use my main gmail account if I’m using an app, if I try to use the browser it says it can’t use that account.

So it’s useless on a fire stick for me, since the browser isn’t an option and my bedroom tv it can’t cast to.

Got the FS for Kodi, but I never use that anymore. Should just order a Roku stick, as YTTV is still the best option as far as which package I want. Also don't really care about watching it via browser, I just knew that was a go-around for FS.

Well, I was excited to join those in this thread, but called Xfinity to see how much it would cost just for internet, and they told me $90.

My bill with internet + cable + netflix included is currently $128. I was really hoping to get internet + YTTV + Netflix for under $100.

My internet just went up $20, from 50 to 70. Gotta call and see if it was a promotional year or what, but need it back down to $50. $70 + the $50 for YTTV may mean I can get a cable package for just as cheap... tho YTTV will be cancelled once football season is over.

Supposedly 100 mbps. When I do speed tests on my phone they're usually around half that or a bit lower. Cox is shit.

With that being said, I've never once had an issue with YTTV buffering. Netflix will every once in a while though.

Never have issues with Netflix, but I'll have issues with YTTV occassionally, especially TLC On Demand for whatever reason.

I have 150 mbps from xfinity in south florida but google wifi consistently test at about 170mbps. Currently on a promo where it's 59.99 but that expires in November and don't look forward to how much they will increase it then. AT&T is shit where I live and xfinity is really the only option for good internet.

Never any buffering issues. Occasionally will have issues with on demand content from YTTV but that seems to have more to do with the ads they try to load for on demand stuff than my internet speed since when i back out and go back in it always works fine.

$44.99 for 400/20 with Spectrum in DFW.

Actual wired speed tests regularly show 400-450. Very satisfied. Part of that satisfaction is that Spectrum auto upgraded my speed from 200/20 to 400/20 a couple of months ago.
