Luckily you can organize the guide in any order you want so I put all my most frequently used channels on top and hide all the channels I have no interest in ever watching.
Yea I've gotta reorder and hide most of the guide and I should be good. On a side note, could we start an argument over which streaming device is best. One of my TV's does not have a WIFI connection, I'm leaning towards a Firestick 4k for it.
I have Amazon and Roku so I never tried apple. I’m not sure I ever will in the current state of technology but things change. That said Roku >>>> Amazon if you are paying money. If your trying to pirate anything Amazon.
I was all fire at first, but had an issue with one and had an unused roku express. I ended up liking the roku better, so I switched the other TVs to 4K roku devices.
Apple TV Android TV (Sony and tons of other boxes like NVIDIA Shield, new AT&T Box, MiBox, etc. ) Samsung Smart TV PlayStation Xbox And on these mobile for Android devices and iOS (so pretty much all phones and tablets in the US)
Can't chromecast from Android in the app. Anyone else try this? Chromecasting from laptop is very laggy
For me, the chromecast connection links near instantly for me from Android app on my phone to two different devices and then playback begins very quickly. No bugs or lag so far. What device are you casting too? Vizio?
Only tried once, but I didn't see a way to chromecast the app to the TV. Are you mirroring vs chromecasting? Casting to oldish (2015) Samsung
Google says i should be able to do it. Will try again tonight https://www.peacocktv.com/help/article/chromecast-or-apple-airplay
proper chromecasting from the app. HBO Max supports casting from the browser, but you're right to point out that older devices might stutter or have finicky chromecast connections, despite being supported or having the button/icon.
moving at the end of the month so i was changing my internet and decided to play around with tv packages, just to see what the prices were. could get internet and 200+ tv channels for $110/month. Im thinking - ok, that's not bad at all. that's less than what i pay for internet + yttv at the moment. keep going through the process - ok, 5 per tv receiver. $10+ for any sort of useful DVR. then they add in broadcast fees, sports fees, other taxes and fees and all the sudden that 110/month package was $178/month (and that was with the 1 or 2 year contract discount). i'll stick with internet and yttv thank you very much
I remember one of the last times I was ordering cable "Can you please tell me what the exact amount my monthly bill will be." "Sorry sir but there are local taxes and fees we can't account for." ...."You have no way of telling me what my taxes and fees are? Am I the first customer in this area?" "No but it's against privacy agreements to look at other customers info." "So just to clarify once more there is no way I can find out the exact amount of my bill?" "It should be somewhere between x and x ($15 range)."
Anyone have a good IPTV service? Had been using Jarvis Hosting TV for a year with great results but out of nowhere it stopped working.
That's what I use. However there are some questions about the company that acquired them at the end of last year. I may try switching it up when my current subscription expires. https://restoreprivacy.com/private-internet-access-kape-crossrider/
Hulu is really bad about keeping my place across multiple devices. I’ll watch episodes on my iPad while I’m working, then on Roku in the evenings. They never pick up the progress from the other.
I typically fall asleep at night to something. When that something is on Hulu I feel like I waste 15 minutes trying to figure out where I stopped earlier. Then I usually fall asleep in the middle of an episode and have to repeat the process when I resume the next day.
I’ve had problems with it on the same device. Like I’ll finish watching an episode and exit out to watch the NBA Playoffs or whatever. Next day I go to watch the next episode and it says I’ve only watched a few minutes of the episode I had last watched to completion.
I had YTTV for two years but canceled once they announced the price increase. Trying Hulu TV for a month or two and 3 weeks in, I hate it. Will probably switch back to YTTV and deal with the increased price.
I've said it multiple times, but it bears repeating: Hulu's interface and design is just bad. Unnecessarily "different" than how everyone else does it.
yeah it’s fucking terrible, my girlfriend had it for a few months & it drove me insane compared to my YTTV
Fewer sports is really awesome because I grabbed an antenna and watch Pluto if I want a live tv sort of experience. Pretty pretty nice.
Maybe Maybe not Looks like it will be part of an optional add on like it is with some other services. I just searched it too and it's definitely coming. NFL Network and RedZone logos are selectable when you search. When you select RedZone it has a small logo in the bottom right saying "Available with Sports Plus".
YouTube PR said this was coming, I just didn't expect it would be within the context of this season. I expected in like 6+ months or a year.
That's a big get. If that add on does come in at $10 that should hopefully keep YTTV from doing another price increase on the base package to support it.
below-the-radar winner in the streaming wars: Roku The streaming battlefield is a land of giants: Apple ($2.3Tmarket cap) Amazon ($1.8T), Netflix ($245B), Disney ($241B), AT&T ($210B), and Comcast ($206B) are all in the ring. Valued at only $22B, Roku is a relative minnow. But the company has become a “major gatekeeper” in the premium streaming space. In recent negotiations with these content kings, Roku essentially dropped every company’s dream line: You need us more than we need you. How did this happen? Cable companies have traditionally been the gatekeepers of premium content. But Roku crashed the party in 2008 with its ubiquitous sticks and app that enabled users to stream online media on their TVs. Roku now boasts 10k+ channels and 43m total active accounts -- more than any US pay-TV provider. Bolstered by pandemic binge-watching, the company hit 14.6Bhours of streaming (+65% YoY) during Q2 2020. Roku sells its hardware at a loss In 2019, Roku took a loss of $60m on revenue of $1.1B -- largely due to its hardware costs. But the company’s services business (ads and subscriptions) now account for ~70% of its revenue. One analyst tells Variety that Roku’s pivot from hardware to services is something that you “almost never see in tech.” That’s probably as rare (but not nearly as satisfying) as telling streaming giants that you don't “need” them.
Shit it sounds like this will hit asap https://awfulannouncing.com/youtube...ackage-redzone-to-a-new-sports-plus-tier.html YouTube TV will be launching a new add-on called “Sports Plus” as soon as tomorrow, which will include NFL RedZone. The package will include Fox College Sports, Fox Soccer Plus, GOLTV, MAVTV, Stadium, and TVG. We expect pricing to be at least $10 for the add-on, with the service expected to expand the package with more channels in the future. But the bigger news for NFL fans, YouTube TV will also be adding NFL Network to their base tier.
Sneak Peek at new sports package from YTTV. Pretty significant to do a custom add-on, but the particulars of this package are nothing too crazy to get excited for. Expected to be a $10 package add-on. For those following along: Stadium (upstart, has focus on college sports, some content available OTA in select markets) GolTV (mostly latin Soccer coverage) NFL RedZone Fox Soccer Plus (Soccer fans know this is almost a rugby channel, these days) Fox College Sports MAVTV (motorsports) TVG (horse racing)
