The fact that they took 8 years to make this game with a long term crunch and it ended up like this makes me nervous for the future of open world, story driven gaming tbh
This is kind of where I'm at. Have a solid frame rate and decent graphics on the PS5 and the bugs/crashes haven't been detrimental to my playthrough yet. I am a bit disappointed in how dead the world is, though. The actual world and city design looks and feels great, but the lack of people leaves a lot to be desired. I know it's not a major thing when it comes to gameplay, but walking into a club/bar/restaurant and there being only like 5 or 10 people in there really takes away from the immersion. This is supposed to be am absolutely enormous city, but it feels like nobody is there. The big changes I'm looking forward to, other than the bug fixes, would be improving the prices you pay and how much money you receive, being able create and save loadouts (not sure how likely that is to happen), a transmog system (I get some really worthless but cool looking stuff that fits the look I'm going for), and fixes to the crafting such as amount needed to upgrade/craft. Theres other stuff I can't think of for now I'm sure. Edit: a better way to deconstruct things would be great, too. Give me an option to deconstruct as I'm picking up and a option to deconstruct multiple at a time in menu (let me click multiple or deconstruct all of a certain rarity)
I think stuff like Ghost of Tsushima and God of War give me some hope that people still get it. Doesnt have to be the most massive world (both are still pretty big) but it definitely needs to be full of meaningful stuff to do. Those two developers have seemed to figure that out. I wonder how close CDPR would have gotten if they'd have just ditched the last gen models a few years ago. They definitely would have had time to flesh out the city a little more.
Yeah, I feel the same. Beautiful city and environments, but there's nothing to do outside of the missions that immerses me in the world. There are some side gigs that are nicely fleshed out, but it feels like there is nothing to do besides go here and shoot people. Having 0 interaction with civilian AI was not what I was expecting. It was the same in the Witcher, but humans hate and mistrust you,(and say so when you try to talk to them) so at least there was an organic reason there. The "talk" option for random NPC's is kind of a joke, as they just spit out a random line that means nothing. Driving is awful. There's a lot to like, but it's weighed down by a lot of stuff that's terrible. If anything, it's made Red Dead look even better, if that's even possible.
the city doesnt feel dead to me, honestly theres so many people im constantly getting the cops called on me for bumping into them. is there a difference in the amount of npcs on console vs pc?
also my driving experience is pretty good. always using a motorcycle. being able to make crazy sharp turns due to mouse probably helps too. but yeah, always motorcycle.
i dont mind the "go here, shoot stuff" open world missions but there does seem to be a lack of meaningful sidequests in the vein of bloody baron, etc. could be because i havent done any main story missions after hitting act 2, could be because they arent there. no clue yet.
That 8 years thing is way over blown though. The vast majority of the studio was working on Witcher until 2016. They might have had a small team tinkering away on this but from what I've read most of that was just conceptual stuff and got scrapped anyway. The tone of that initial trailer and what we got are quite different. I think this game really only got 4-5 years and honestly that's probably just not enough time for what they were trying to do. RDR2 took every bit of 8 years and you can see the level of polish in that world that this game is lacking.
@ anyone who has played more story content than me: do rippers exist that arent currently on the map for me? there seems to be a lack of legendary cyberware for more than a few types of items. still cant find a memory boost better than rare.
not sure how much of the map you revealed but I’m level 37 and I’ve found every store. Only orange mod I have is for armor and my OS but I’ve seen quite a few with high body and reflex requirements but most of my points are in Cool, Intelligence and Technical Ability so I haven’t been able to use them
On my 8th grade field trip to Washington DC I was in the airport in line to buy personal pizza's. Kid in line behind me was like , "is that Keanu Reeves?". Me - Who is Keanu Reeves? Keanu - It's me. Me - We made small talk for a few minutes waiting in line, but I had no idea who he was or what he was from. My friend behind me was too shy/scared to talk. When it was his turn to order he ordered two extra pepperoni pizza's and gave them to us and walked away. He was a cool dude.
Not picking at you just using it to start the conversation ITT since this seems to be a pretty common mindset at this point on the internet. What in your mind was the game that they promised? Bugs and Glitches aside - what were people actually expecting that's not in the game? By reading some of the games subreddit posts, it honestly feels like people had propped it up so much in their hype that it would practically be like a Virtual Reality experience on a console.
Maybe this is why I didn't get the same "dead world" feel as some people are... on XB the streets and clubs are packed with people.
The list is quite long but just go back and watch their own videos posted just this year of all the features this game was supposed to have and doesn't. I've lost all respect for CDPR. They lied their asses off about this game. They are just another EA or Ubisoft to me how.
I’m 38 and 8th grade me would have known him from Bill and Ted and Parenthood for sure. Speed as well. That would have been before The Matrix I think.
I had to look up his filmography. I think the first one for me would be Speed or The Devils Advocate. I do remember watching Point Break a long time ago with my dad, after renting it from Blockbuster, but that wouldn't come to mind quickly.
Oh man I forgot about point break. I only got to watch that at friends houses. I was obsessed with Bill and Ted as a kid though. I’ve seen both movies I don’t know how many times, watched the cartoon show, ate the cereal everything
I’m not big on replaying games, but I figured CP would have replayability. It seems like that isn’t the case.
Weird because I had the same feeling with it being like the Witcher and I know people still play it now.
From what I’ve experienced so far, choices you make don’t really matter, and the build you play as only changes the first few hours of the game. Plus the character builds are pretty meh. I don’t think there is any real variance.
I buy all their games regardless and know what I'm getting. Sports and Assassins Creed. So far this game is more fun to me than Witcher 3. so CDPR is still the same in my mind as before. Maybe just different strokes for different folks.
Damn. Some of you are taking this way too seriously. It’s a game that cost $60. It’s supposed to be fun. It’s fun to me. Lots of fun. There are still around 4 or 5 other builds I want to do to experience combat in a different way not to mention the story as the two other starting affiliation. Idc what they promised. It’s well worth my money. When I’m tired of it, I’ll move on.
I was doing the mission with the flathead last night and it did look like watching a movie on a scratched DVD. First huge glitches I’ve seen but they were really bad
I ain’t gonna lie, it’s not gripping enough that I don’t think I’ll ever finish the main storyline. Ghosts was the last game that got me hooked like that and this isn’t in the same realm as that
you haven’t even begun to play the game. I struggled to get past the first 10 hours on Witcher 3 and so I never got into it. Made myself get through Act 1 on Cyberpunk and I’m really glad I did
The 50 cent Candy Shop song was really popular then. By googling that says 2003. I've never seen a Matrix but it says Matrix 2 came out 2003, so makes sense.
hit street cred 50. duped thousands of items. now i can play the game. still would love a character level exploit
Does the film grain turned off help with the lagging? Have today and until Sunday by myself with nothing to do but put in some hours on this.
